It allows me to quickly identify areas of opportunities and best performing keywords. Pros SEMrush is perfect for professionals who want to understand more about their website's performance for SEM/SEO. It allows you to quickly compare your website performance with competitors, who are disputing their ranking position on Google organic and paid search. It also gives you a lot of insights on which keywords should you focus on and how each player is positioned. Cons There aren't many cons about this tool. The only issue I've noticed is that it's heavy and not very user friendly. I needed someone to give me an overview of how it works. Even thought I'm not an SEM/SEO expert, tools like SimilarWeb are easier to understand and operate. Pros I really enjoy the SEO toolkit, particularly the position tracking tool. Cons There are too many "additional packages" you can purchase for ridiculous amounts of money. It's sad that I would have to pay almost half of my subscription price just to have a second user be able to access our account. Some tools that should be in the base software are in these so-called packages that can add another few hundred dollars per month to your subscription price. It has been a huge help to our digital team! Pros SEMrush has so much data that is helpful for SEO. I love the ability to see competitors' ads and to analyze the keywords their pages are optimized for. I also like the Keyword Magic tool, which can help you find new or better keywords to incorporate into your website. Cons It can be cumbersome and difficult to learn. It definitely takes time to figure out where stuff is and how to best used it. They do have training modules, which is super helpful, but still ... it is not an easy-to-use product right off the bat. These tools are often my go-to because they are easier to use and give me more unique insights than some alternatives. Pros I love the SEO writing assistant because it is easy to use and understand. I write every project using this tool, and I can make adjustments as needed while working. The keyword suggestions are a great help to guide content for a page if I'm starting from scratch. Cons There are so many things you can do in this platform that it's overwhelming without a thorough onboarding or tutorial. I've found that if a section of the software isn't showing you the data you want to see, it's probably because a different section exists for that reason – and you just haven't discovered it yet. I log in to the account at least once a day so it's an essential tool for me. The regular emails with tips and tricks are nice. Pros SEMrush gives me a ton of valuable information that I can use to improve our website and keep track of competitors. The position tracking tool I find especially useful. Pros The amount of info you can gather is crazy! But then it is up to you to do something with it. Find where and how to improve your website. How many errors and warnings there are and what to do about them. Cons Mainly, it is the lack of knowledge and time on my part. I understand why there are SEO companies out there where this is all they do. It takes time to understand and correct websites in order to help them be optimized. I feel like the pricing for SEMrush could be a lot more fair for freelancers who are starting out and aren't like the well-established agencies that already have dozens of clients who pay six figures for SEO services.
