I use it for keyword research, on-page & technical SEO, and also to perform backlit audits. It has saved me time by focusing my limited resources on the right content to target, as well as identified many technical SEO issues which I had previously overlooked. Pros I like the Keyword Magic Tool, which makes keyword research easy. While the results can vary drastically from Ahrefs, I find that is more accurate when it comes to keyword difficulty, and how realistic it is to rank content. Cons The price. While there is a 7-day free trial (unlike Ahrefs), the cheapest option is still quite expensive for new businesses or bloggers. There is also a learning curve when first using the software, as there are so many different tools and reports (of which a large percentage I never use). I can't imagine not using this tool! Cons The one thing I like least about is the limit on the amount of keywords we can track without having to pay an extra fee. Especially considering that tracking one keyword on multiple devices counts as multiple keywords tracked. Pros As a company with multiple websites, it's helpful to be able to create projects for each site within and track position separately. It's great to be able to crawl for issues within the tool as well. Reporting is easy and robust, and we haven't even fully exploited its functionality in the year since we deployed. I love the categorization of the Keyword Magic tool - I was a Google Keyword Planner enthusiast, but I think I'm a convert! Cons It can be hard to know whose data to trust when data conflicts with other tools (mostly on MSV). You can't tie a page to a particular keyword to track ranking. SEMrush decides which page to tie based on which one is ranking best - which does make sense, but it complicates things a bit for us. Pros provides invaluable insight into my company's website and our competitors' websites. It's also one of the few tools I've used that does a good job of monitoring rankings and letting us know where we're slipping or rising. I also use the SEO Audit tool on an ongoing basis to monitor our site and see the impact of any changes we make. Cons is great for businesses but I find the price point is way too high for smaller "mom and pop shop" businesses, especially those that are new to SEO.
