### "Great functionality and usability for 0 cost!"

May 23, 2019

5.0

We're using it as a secure internal password database, it's saved us from writing the passwords down in word files or on our computers which is very insecure. As we've got it on our online file server it's also accessible from any device, it makes connecting to routers a whole lot easier as all the information can be put into a single Keepass entry.

Pros

The software has the same functionality as a lot of other software I've tried but without the price tag, it's an amazing bit of kit when you consider it's free. The database itself is encrypted, it has the ability to generate secure passwords based on your preferences. It has a secure copy/paste function that deletes it from your clipboard after a certain amount of seconds.

Cons

It can be annoying if you've saved changes and another user has the database open although this can be fixed by setting up the sync client to avoid this.

### "It's hard to not like it...but it's also hard to use it"

October 11, 2022

4.0

KeePass is one of the top of line the Free and Open Source password management options out there...and when it comes to keeping your passwords safe...you kind of want a FOSS application doing that for you. So if you're a tech-savvy user looking for a highly customizable way to keep your passwords seriously secure this is the app for you. If you don't have a degree in IT or the time to muddle through the murky waters of generating, encrypting, and integrating your own secure passwords, then this probably isn't the way you want to go.

Pros

What drew me to KeePass and what I like the most about it is that it's FOSS--free and open source. The developers did a really great job with the product. Users get complete control over their information and there are a lot of different options to choose from to help keep your passwords REALLY secure. Like...really, REALLY secure. I also loved all the different plug ins and extensions that they had, which is what most users expect from software like this. The best way to use KeePass is for in-browser use, especially since it doesn't have an "official" Android or iOS app--but considering its FOSS, I don't think the lack of official app is necessarily a bad thing.

Cons

KeePass isn't user friendly, like at all, in anyway. It feels antiquated...which if were purely an aesthetic drawback wouldn't have deterred my use; however, it's not. I mean yes, the user interface looks old and outdated--it's not flashy, splashy, bright, or modernly luring in anyway, but what's worse is that interacting with the software is difficult. t's not "self-explanatory", it doesn't have any flow or direction, let alone guidance. It was a bummer.

### "The best free password manager"

August 26, 2022

5.0

Once I passed the initial learning curve, it is a terrific piece of software I know cannot live without.

Pros

On top of the fact that it's free and open-sourced, it is featureful and extensible, able to be used as much or as little as one wants.

Cons

Initial set-up, especially if you want to be able to have the same vault on multiple devices, can be time-consuming, as it isn't done for you out of the box. Also, it can be daunting to configure each entry for auto-typing, especially for the less technology literate.

### "I don't trust Cloud-based password managers. KeePass is the next best thing!"

May 15, 2019

5.0

If you're like me and don't trust cloud-based solutions, use this! I love KeePass, and until I find out that they compromised my passwords, I'm going to use them forever!

Pros

Very easy to use. I have my .kdbx file syncing on Google Drive and do monthly backups to Dropbox. This thing is great for saving my passwords because my memory is terrible. It also generates random passwords for you, but I don't usually use that feature. Also, they have so many configurable shortcuts. It's the little things that matter for this app.

Cons

Wish there was a way to save/sync my settings. I have this installed on 4 different laptops, and I always need to open it up a previously installed one to copy my settings over. Not a big deal.

### "Manages passwords well"

June 3, 2021

5.0

Keepass has been a reliable keeper of my passwords for years. The manual password management fits my operating style just fine, but I do sometimes run into frustrations with its lack of integration with other software.

Pros

Organizes and manages passwords well and keeps them in an encrypted format. With a plugin addition, can also sync your passwords to a cloud storage provider and share them across multiple devices.

Cons

It doesn't integrate with web browsers or applications to automatically enter or record the passwords, so all management is manual.

### "KeePass is A Good Key"

September 19, 2020

4.0

Overall my experience with KeePass has been good, and very positive. Our parnet company has switched to a different password storage system that is more cloud-base so it is better controlled, but KeePass is still a program that I use on a daily. As mentioned I like that fact that it is easliy accessible and that I can hard acees to my login-information that I can copy and paste from it I need too.

Pros

KeePass is a great tool for storing passwords on your system that are not cloud-based. What makes it great is it allows you to have access to the actual login information, and you don't have to rely on a cloud-based system to log in to specific sites, especially if you use multiple log-in information.

Cons

What I least like about KeePass is that it allows you to save your log-in info as databases that you can give specific names too. The problem is that if you are not careful it will save them to a hidden folder on your hard drive which is hard to recover. Also, it lets you save as a URL, but I found that the URL save as is not very helpful and functional.

### "Great credentials manager!"

February 10, 2021

4.0

Pretty content with the features it provides, it serves as our main credentials manager for the IT department, will keep using it.

Pros

1- Totally free. 2- Incredible number of supported plugins and extensions. 3- DB file (.kdbx) is compatible with third-party apps which runs on mobile platforms such as iOS and Android. 4- Easy searching and sorting. 5- Could export to TXT, HTML, XML, and CSV.

Cons

1- Can't centrally manage all user files. 2- GUI somehow looks outdated. 3- Can't auto-save passwords.

### "I couldn't live without it anymore"

March 24, 2021

5.0

I use Keepass daily to store both all my job's and personal passwords. I store in it all the information I want to keep private, and it is super easy to use it to autofill all your user/password combo fields. I really could not live without it any more .

Pros

The most important feature of Keepass is that it is completely offline. It may sounds stupid, but it is the safest way to protect all your passwords without exposing them into a server that could be hacked.

Cons

If i would be forced into finding something I don't like on Keepass, would be the user interface: very old style, you can feel all the years that have been passed on this piece of software... but it is really not important, to be honest.

### "A Good Quality Password Manager"

May 9, 2022

5.0

Overall it makes password management a breeze. And you can't beat the cost.

Pros

KeePass has mostly everything I need in a password manager and it's free. It's also easy to use and isn't loaded with features I don't need. Also, if you're not syncing passwords across more than one device (for instance you're just using it at work) then storing the vault locally is more secure than having it in the cloud.

Cons

Because the KeePass database is stored locally it's not possible to sync up your password vault across multiple devices. You have to use a third-party service like Dropbox to do this, which makes it less desirable than something stored in the cloud and is accessible from anywhere.

### "Passwords Never More Secure"

December 8, 2019

5.0

One of the worst things that can happen to a company in this era is a data breach. I feel like KeePass is helping that not happen. If you don't have a password management system, or have one you aren't satisfied with, there's no reason not to try this.

Pros

I remember on my first day at my previous company, I walked into my boss's office and he had his passwords posted on his laptop with a sticky note. We've come a long way. With KeePass, I keep my passwords and log-in very secure through encryption and the info is with me at all times through syncing. There's no program that's easier to use, and even my peers who sometimes struggle with technology are now using this tool.

Cons

I appreciate the syncing, but the KeePass settings that I've put into place on Windows had to be re-set on my iPhone. Not a big deal, but an area for improvement.

### "Securing storage at a business level"

March 27, 2019

4.0

Pros

There are quite a few layers of protection you can apply to passwords and files stored within a KeePass file. So while the whole KeePass file was password protected, we could also further password protect SSH credentials and env files stored within the KeePass DB.

Cons

The ecosystem around KeePass and the various ways and places you can use it looks immense but is very fragmented and hard to learn how to use. There's no unifying use case around using the KeePass CLI program with the desktop client other than it uses the same underlying security protocols. From a usage standpoint, this has led to me trying and failing many times to incorporate KeePass ecosystem elsewhere but always falling back to just using the GUI and copy/pasting passwords/data into the appropriate places.

### "Effective, fast, portable"

April 5, 2020

5.0

It has been a great tool to store passwords and websites securely without having to remember my secure strong passwords.

Pros

I can store my keepass file on the cloud meaning I can access my passwords from anywhere. The password generator is a great tool as I can generate extremely strong password or pass phrases and then store them without having to remember. The abilities to add descriptions and URLs against each password really saves me time trawling through bookmarks!

Cons

I love keepass, I don’t have any issues with it. It provides me with all the abilities I need to complete my every day job with the additional bonus of generating passwords for me.

### "The best password management tool"

April 15, 2021

4.0

My experience with KeyPass was seamless. I use it to manage all my passwords at a single place. I can easily look out for the usernames and passwords for anything. It also allows you to mention the URL and notes along with the username and password in case you want to note something down.

Pros

It is a very good tool to manage all your passwords at a single place. It stores your password database locally which is encrypted and hence safe. The usernames and passwords can be easily divided into groups and subgroups which makes it easy to maintain and manage. Most importantly it is open source and free to use. The user interface is also pretty easy and simple to use.

Cons

It can take some time to get adjusted to this tool. But once you are comfortable with it, there's no going back. There are no cons to this tool and serves the purpose very well.

### "You Need A Vault For Your Passwords!"

January 5, 2017

5.0

After a little bit of a struggle with getting started, I'm happy to save I've been using KeePass for over 2 years now. Whether I'm being slightly paranoid about my prospects of getting hacked or whether it's just the day and age we live in, KeePass is definitely a lifesaver. All it took was one breach of my PayPal account (whether thru phishing or outright hack) and I was on the lookout for something to keep my "keys" safe. The amount of time I spent on the phone that day talking to banking institutions, credit card companies, merchants whose services I use with recurring payments tied it, and so on was borderline exhausting. All because of compromised account credentials. After some searching, KeePass ended up being my go-to for my laptop and also on my mobile. I especially like the password generator which can be customized according to the password requirements of a particular company (i.e. no special characters, only letters, and numbers, etc.) You only need to have one password memorized and the rest is as easy as a drag and drop on your computer or touch/copy and paste on your mobile.

Pros

The encryption it offers and the peace of mind it provides.

Cons

You'll need to have at least a little bit of tech savvy to get this going on your laptop.

### "KeePass is my favorite password manager"

March 5, 2019

5.0

Overall, KeePass will always be my go-to for keeping my passwords safe and secure.

Pros

I like most that KeePass is, by default, storing my passwords internally and not pushing them out to a server in the cloud somewhere to be hacked at some point. This is the key reason I prefer KeePass over something like LastPass, I just don't feel as safe using something like LastPass.

Cons

I've not really got any cons for this software except the normal thing with a password manager where if you lose your master password or the person who knows it dies then you're kind of out luck, but that's not really a fault of the application, more of the user.

### "A simple, secure and free software for all your sensitive passwords."

September 14, 2018

4.0

This is my first software for password management and works just flawless when I use. It has a secure and open-source code which you can review anytime just set it up and forgot about any hassle and remembering your multiple passwords anymore. As it doesn't support simple cloud sync and low-quality android port app, it is hard for me to keep up with my increasing work devices. I really recommend this, but for its cloud-less feature's I have to use another option which provides me with online sync.

Pros

Free, Opensource and secure software to store all your valuable information. I love the open-source software because you can see the code which is being in charge of your safety. It generates a random password, stores securely your all passwords, notes, menu, contact details and everything else. You can import or export to any format CSV, HTML or any other, you are not limited to one platform.

Cons

Sometimes it crashes other than it is a good alternative. Low-quality android apps and lack of online/cloud sync. It is not as simple and user-friendly as other options available in the market currently.

### "Indispensable tool"

Pros

\-A tool that I use on a daily basis, I do not know what would be of my life without this application. -Facility and simplicity to export to different types of format. -Allows you to easily organize groups and tickets. -Great password generator. -Possibility to change The icons by default. -Many configuration options available.

Cons

\-Definitively the main problem with this application is that the graphical user interface is horrible and very unfriendly and intuitive for an end user. -I do not find other problems with this application as slowness or unexpected closures, maybe because I use an SSD.

### "The best password manager tool"

November 25, 2018

5.0

I use keepass from 3 years in the workplace and I can say that without it I really do not know how to do, before using it I saved my passwords on an excel, but keepass is much better. I can not do without it anymore.

Pros

Allows you to create and save really complex passwords for all accounts. using keepass you can have at any time all the passwords available. The accounts can be cataloged and to increase the security every time you copy username or password from keepass remain in memory only 10 seconds. You need to remember one password: keepass password.

Cons

I can not say that the system has negative aspects, it has never given me problems.

### "Good secure personal password database - needs a sync method to work everywhere"

November 12, 2018

5.0

I use Keepass on my desktop, laptop and phone and sync the database among all three. I have access to my and my customers' passwords everywhere I need them. Use it many times a day, it's quick and simple.

Pros

Self-hosted local app, no risk of a cloud data breach. Of course that means the responsibility for protecting your data is up to you. Desktop app can auto-fill login forms, is customizable to adapt to different required keystroke sequences on a per-site basis. Can use local 2FA in the form of a master password + a local key file. Keep the file on removable storage and enhance your security. Includes a password generator with which you can set the desired characteristics of your passwords (length, character and symbol sets) and make up new ones on the fly.

Cons

Missing a way to share one group from a database. You can clone a file and then delete all the passwords except the set you want to pass on, but for customer management it would be useful to be able to take one group and give that database to another party.

I've been using KeePass for a few years and it's excellent due to its easy user-accessibility. I love how there's an option to print a list as well. I can't say there's a better piece of software and I'm very happy with using it.

Pros

Cons

### "Remember to passwords? Never-ever (except one)"

September 21, 2018

5.0

Pros

You can collect all of your passwords into a complete secure database what you can access with a master password. It not just means you don't have to remember passwords but you can freely set hyper-strong ones in your online services. The embedded password generator helps you to create as complex passwords as you want. You can group your keys by your desire which means it is easy to find a password even if you have couple of dozens.

Cons

The database is stored on the computer. It would be more resistant for data loss if it could synchronize to cloud (for a small fee for example).
