### "Can't do without it."

December 4, 2018

5.0

As a software developer, I have a lot of different passwords. They're for different servers, websites, etc. My customers trusted me with this information, so they need to be kept in a very secure and reliable place. The way I set this up, I have a secure key file stored on a USB drive, with the passwords database stored in a separate location. I printed out the secure file, it's just a bunch of characters I could easily type in manually if I ever lose the USB drive. I keep that in a locked file cabinet as a backup in case the USB goes missing, or is corrupted. This setup has proved to be very reliable, and I've never had any issues with it.

Pros

It runs on all the operating systems I use: Mac, Windows, Linux, and Android. It has a portable version that I can keep on a USB drive. I like the feature to generate random secure passwords. I use that all the time.

Cons

The interface is a little outdated. It can be difficult to get everything organized, but it does the job well, so that's not a big issue.

### "The best password manager"

March 31, 2018

5.0

The best offline password manager. Can be used with cloud storages to keep the password DB in sync

Pros

I use this password manager every day. It stores your password offline, uses master password to keep them safe. It can also be set to require a certificate for extra security.

Cons

While being really secure, not all the security features are enabled by default. For example, there's an option to use secure screen when entering master password on Windows, but this option is not enabled by default.

### "Just perfect!"

December 15, 2021

5.0

Pros

I love all features of it. It is very easy and useful. I can't believe how useful it is. I am using for password management. I can create project folders and add all passwords.

Cons

It has no synchronization with other devices but you can copy & paste to drive your password file.

### "Fantastic password safe!"

October 23, 2018

5.0

I use this software every day, and have never considered replacing it. Does that say enough? :)

Pros

It is quick and responsive when trying to query information, and allows you to store more than just a password - I also use it to store any information necessary on my users' computer, such as license keys. It really helps in my support role to have all of this information at my fingertips!

Cons

I have not found anything I dislike about the software. It has always been reliable and accurate.

### "A great enterprise password manager"

January 4, 2019

3.0

Pros

This is an extremely powerful password program. We use KeePass for our company and have done so for many years. The password generator is extremely powerful, and there are a ton of different features within the program. We use the software on many different computers, with multiple users, and it keeps all of our passwords synced and in one secure place.

Cons

The user interface is old and feels outdated. other then this I don't have any major cons for this program.

### "An Open Source password manager."

March 25, 2019

3.0

Pros

Keep Pass is open source, which ensures greater security among your competitors. It has a system with several types of encryption algorithms that can automatically generate extremely secure passwords for the user. Ensures the security of the computer's transfer area by cleaning it a few seconds after the user uses a copy function within the program. It has no limits on the amount of passwords to generate. It's free software. It does not require internet connection or access to websites to access passwords. Your passwords are stored in an encrypted "vault" file and it is up to the user to save and make copies.

Cons

The interface is a bit complicated and hides several useful functions. The software needs third-party integration to work on the smartphone and browsers.

### "Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe"

local control over passwords made easy. just don't forget the master password!

Pros

ability to store (encrypted) and search for multiple login credentials for a variety of systems & websites. kdbx file can be opened on macOS and ios app. password generation and masking. limited time retention of copied passwords in the clipboard.

Cons

entering the master password incorrectly returns a scary error message about a damaged key. searches sometimes return an odd duplicate list of results

### "Keepass is a great piece of software to help you manage your passwords."

May 7, 2018

5.0

Pros

I like that it is open source and free and it does the management of looking after my passwords really well. With lots of plugins to allow easier login to website and many many features, this really is a great piece of software. It makes my life easier, and I know that every website or service I log into has it's own unique password.

Cons

Just the look of it, while I find it super functional it looks a little bit dated, and this is just a personal thing.

### "Top free password safe"

June 26, 2022

5.0

I use Keepass on a daily basis to manage hundreds of credentials. The tool is great for what it does, and provides a handful of useful extra features. However and as there is no built-in synchronization with the cloud, users must backup their data on a regular basis to avoid data loss.

Pros

KeePass is a local password safe used to safeguard passwords and secret credentials. Data remains local: there is no upload to the cloud, which means you are in control of your data (but also have to manage backups yourself). The tool is free and has handy features like password auto-type and integration with other tools such as Putty.

Cons

The UI is a bit dated and may use some visual updates. Also the tool does not come with a built-in updater.

### "My experience of the KeepPass"

January 8, 2022

5.0

Pros

Keep Pass has an excellent cost-benefit ratio for any company. The software serves its purpose very well.

Cons

I can't say if anyone can find a counter on KeepPass, because for me it doesn't. It's easy to use, safe and very useful in everyday life.

### "Your personal password box - free!"

December 19, 2019

5.0

We use KeePass both personally and as a team. We have set up a kdbx (KeePass password box) file on our Sharepoint server and we access it remotely from there, as we have a lot of Admin passwords for different environments.

Pros

KeePass has many good things. It is entirely free, has a lot of small tools (like a custom password generator), its very light and - did I already say it is free?

Cons

There's nothing in particular that I dislike about KeePass as it does everything that we need it to do.

### "Hands down the best option for free software"

July 6, 2018

4.0

Pros

A vault for passwords is essential in today's world. While a book of passwords might make sense for some, you really should be relying on a secure software that is accessible only to you, and far from reach for others. KeePass provides the peace of mind of always having my wealth of passwords at fingertip reach. I never want to go back to memorizing all my passwords now that I have the functionality of KeePass.

Cons

It isn't the most user-friendly app, but I'm also not upset with it by any means. I can't really comment on negatives to its security, since I have never experienced an issue.

### "Great password generator and manager"

December 20, 2019

5.0

It has given me peace of mind having randomly generated complex passwords for my accounts and helped me get out of the bad habit of reusing passwords. Thanks, KeePass!

Pros

I use this software every day to generate and save passwords for all of my online accounts. It is very easy to generate passwords that satisfy any complexity requirements.

Cons

It was somewhat complicated to configure online backup and synchronization so that my passwords are available across all of my devices.

### "The only password manager I reccomend."

February 9, 2022

5.0

Pros

Open source, continuously improved and secure password generator and identity storage solution.

Cons

Lack of online synchronisation and other QoL features - remedied by managing these things yourself, but not as 'pick up and go' as some competitors. Still, for the price of $0, it's hard to be beat.

Alternatives considered

[1Password](https://www.capterra.com/p/176113/1Password/)[LastPass](https://www.capterra.com/p/151988/LastPass/)

Reason for choosing KeePass

Free, open source and secure software without the bells and whistles that concern me from a security standpoint.

### "A simple and lightweight credential storage application to get you started with managing passwords."

March 19, 2018

4.0

Pros

It's free, and it's a great start for managing usernames and passwords. Password database encryption is built in. Multiple OS support (Mac/Win/Linux) Password Entry History is very nice in case you need to know prior passwords or make a mistake submitting a password to an entry. Quick double-click shortcut for copying/pasting passwords from KeePass to other application text fields. It only saves the string in memory for a few seconds. A surprising amount of add-ons and plugins for browsers are available for KeePass, due to a high adoption rate of this product.

Cons

I am not certain, but two factor authentication integration would be a nice-to-have feature. I would like to see a KeePass offering that would allow me to access a single credential store on all of my endpoints machines.

### "I use it everyday"

January 8, 2019

5.0

Pros

What I like the most is that the software can create many database (in my case, one DB per costumer) so I can manage all costumers separately and share them only the information I want them to see via Dropbox folder share.

Cons

The only thing I'd like about this product is a way to sync over the cloud without having to sync via Dropbox or other cloud sharing application. Sync between all my PCs automaticly would be nice.

### "El mejor software para guardar contraseñas "

July 22, 2021

5.0

Muy recomendable. Lo seguiremos usando durante muchos años más.

Pros

### "KeePass review"

May 1, 2019

4.0

Pros

What I like most about this software is its functionality. Being able to use this software on my work computer and have it sync to the iPhone app has been very useful in my office.

Cons

What I like least about this is its interface. This isn't a big gripe with me, as I have known in the past that open source software tends to have a less than the best interface, but I knew that going into getting this software.

### "The best password manager"

May 12, 2020

5.0

It's super fast. Entering passwords, generating new, plenty of fields to enter anything and everything. It's actually one of the software that we will probably never change.

Pros

In short - everything. We've tried many different password managers but KeePass is faster and easier to use.

Cons

If you are using the same database on several computers it would be great to have a notification that DB is open somewhere else to avoid different versions and sync.

### "Keepass for private use"

October 25, 2022

5.0

Very happy with the Keepass tool, I use it for private use and it's an important tool for me!

Pros

The features, free of use, password synchronization with other devices, way of use (easy), password generator, groups

Cons

The database is stored on the localmachine. Now a days it would be better to store it on the CLoud and I missed security audit logging

### "Keepass is a great tool with a couple minor shortfalls"

January 8, 2019

4.0

We have been able to keep things up to date and everyone one the same page with credentials. This has saved us more than once when someone is on vacation or something.

Pros

That application is simple and fast to get started with. The password generator is easy to use and allows for a secure set of passwords to be generated as needed. The database is easy to back up as well.

Cons

Multi user access is difficult at best without an add-on product.

### "Excelent tool, but localhost"

March 25, 2021

In general very good, very easy, it has interesting features for automatically filling in the login and password from some keyboard shortcuts and also offers a field to store the access URL.

Pros

great tool for those who have many access credentials at work and want security for that. It is easy to use, efficient, very safe and functional

Cons

the only cons is that it is not in the cloud, so it is good for those who use the same machine every day.

### "Absolutely must have utility"

August 15, 2019

5.0

Pros

I don't know what I would have done without KeePass. Out of curiosity, I counted and I'm managing over 500 passwords and credentials with KeePass both personal and business. Moreover, the software is open-source and it means as a programmer I can inspect the code. The app is available for mobiles and I can use the same file both on desktop and mobile.

Cons

I have not found any issues with this app.
