We have one for our SysOps team for all our systems and service accounts, servers, and vendors. Pros Ease of setup and getting started is easy. Strong password for access, ability to move file around and open on different devices. Grouping for different passwords. Pros These days it is very difficult to remember all the password and the chances of mistakes are always there. This is a good tool which kept your password in encrypted way so that you can keep and use your desired password as and when required without even need to type it. you can create multiple groups and kept all the information at the same place. Cons Nothing is prefect in this world so the keepass has its own drawbacks like it is opensource and not that interactive as it should be since the more focus is on the security rather how it is looks. It is free, and carries that added security needed to help me sleep peacefully knowing passwords are secure, which isn't always the case with web based password managers. I also use lastpass' free version, and while I have never faced a security issue with them, there's always that possibility and worry that keepass doesn't have. You can also customize password records, and store attachments to your entries. There are so many features and capabilities of KeePass, I am still learning new ones every day. Cons The user interface could be improved, and updated to a more modern look, it currently has an old school look to it which I'm not a big fan of. It also isn't the easiest tool to use where LastPass has the advantage is the ease of use. KeePass has a learning curve and can get a bit technical. Pros This is a small application you can use to manage your passwords. The app is simple, but has several customization options. You can generate strong passwords with it as well. I keep it on my Dropbox and can sync with multiple PCs, and I can also use it on my phone with the MiniKeePass app. And, it's free! Cons The only con is that you have to dig a little bit to learn how to setup the synchronization between devices, it is not quite straight forward, specially for non-tech users. Pros I've used KeePass for years and find it to be reliable and incredibly useful. Your passwords can be kept on both a laptop or a phone or a USB and the free price is unbeatable. Cons You need to manually record every new password, it doesn't automatically get added. Also, I find the interface to be both ugly and confusing. Keepass encourages me to use more secure, more random passwords, increasing security overall, knowing that i only need to remember one single password. Pros I only need to remember one password to access KeePass, then, I can unlock alll of my passwords and just use copy & Paste. Very easy to set up and use - this software is installed on all machines by our IT department and I recommend it to new joiners regularly. Cons I have nothing that I can say about KeePass other than the fact that it is excellent and simple. No faults, no frills, no bells or whistles, a straightforward solution to security. There is no need to memorize the passwords or take the risk of writing it down on paper/file. Pros Keepass helps to navigate through different applications without having the trouble for looking for the passwords from notes/files. Applications can be directly opened from the Keepass application. This is a free open source tool, very easy to use. I suggest Keepass to my colleagues/Family. Secured keyboard is one of my favorite feature. Cons I am a very happy user of Keepass so far. We have hundreds of websites, usernames, and passwords that we use on a daily basis. This allows all of our employees to access these and to update them when they change. It has been a huge way to save time and to secure our sensitive information. Cons The only issue that I have ever had with this program is if more than one person is in it and they make a change, it doesn't update while you are in it. You have to close the program and reopen for the changes to apply. Especially in consulting there is the challenge to store a lot of different customer passwords securely. Keepass has been a good help here so far. Pros KeePass gives me the feeling that my passwords are stored securely. This is mainly based on the fact that KeePass is open source and I can store my password database locally. I liked it but since then I ve found other applications that I think are better. I keep it though because I have passwords there I haven't transfered yet to newer application. Pros It is free and open source. Works like other traditional password managers. It doesn't work through the web browser, so it can't be affected by malicious scripts (I guess). Cons It works mostly on Windows and doesn't perform as expected (aesthetically mostly) on Linux, so I had to switch to another. It looks a bit old anyway. However, for a standalone application that gives complete control to the user, it remains an excellent and viable choice. Pros As a FOSS product, being standalone and without any cloud components or services, this is an ideal choice for privacy concious individuals, or anyone that want's to maintain complete control of their password vault. Cons There are some modern features that are lacking, and it take full advantage of the capabilities of this product requires some level of engineering (use of plugins, other services, etc). With KeePass, I never have to remember my passwords and that is one of the major advantage. Also it suggests 16 to 32 byte long complex passwords which helps secure the applications as well. I wanted a free or cheap password manager that was secure. As this only keeps data on your devices then no risk of it being compromised at the back end. Pros I moved to KeePass from another product that was clearly written as an App first and then for Windows 2nd whereas KeePass is a proper Windows application so far more intuitive and feature rich. Lots of user definable options so you can make a judgement between say strength of keys and time it takes to open the application. It's free and gives me everything I need. I like that all the data is on either my devices, or cloud storage such as OneDrive or Google Drive that i decide. Cons It required a 3rd party app to use on mobile/tablets interface feels slightly dated, but to be fair that's cosmetic and I'd rather developers worked on it being secure than pretty. The technical support pages are very technical, I'm an IT consultant and struggled with some of the terminology and concepts. But if you are a standard user, you can use the default options and still be a heck of a lot more secure than other options or nothing at all. Review Source MW Matthew W. Pros I love that you're not beholden to the cloud for your password storage - you're able to keep your password database local, encrypted, and safe. Cons It can be difficult to transfer the database between computers if you're not tech-savvy, but that's not too much of an issue.
