Pros

The people at Clubessential are always very quick to respond and resolve any issues I cannot fix myself.

Cons

There is nothing that I can think of to say anything derogatory about Clubessential. They are highly knowledgeable and professional.

### "Don't do it "

Where to start. No sub ledgers, bank rec's batch CC payments by terminal so monthly bank recs are a guessing game. Do you want to use FIFO or LIFO??? Well, that's too bad cause Clubsoft makes you use weighted Avg. Seriously that's the worst of all possible worlds. Oh and if you wanted the inventory value to calculate correctly then you are out of luck. Credit books were broken for 2 years before they finally patched in a fix. However, in that time they did add some fancy graphics. Did you want a tutorial to show you how to use a feature? Sure they have those, the problem is they are from 5 years and 6000 patches ago when the software was completely different. Would you like to print out member statements in a timely fashion? Well, I hope you don't get the "see inner exceptions bug" cause that will take them two days to resolve. Oh here's one, the software allows you to save the CVV number on CC. Let me say that again YOU CAN SAVE THE CVV NUMBER!!! That's like day one PCI compliance, no no's. The software feels like it was designed by a company that knows accounting is a thing, that people do, and that's about it. Don't even get me started on the patches. Seriously they are weekly now... That in itself is not a bad thing, but the make the bazaarest banal changes imaginable while leaving in huge bugs. For example, you add a new item. That requires you to exit the center program and log back in! How is that a thing? Furthermore, let's say you figured out a clever way to work around a system limitation such as splitting server tips (Yeah they don't have a way to split tips unless you are like me and figure out a workaround) Your guess is a good as mine if that will work from one week to the next. Maybe they fix it, maybe they don't, maybe they take this away, only to add it in next week. On Mondays, we call it the Bubba Gump system, cause you never know what you are gonna get. It feels like the programmers are just programming to stay busy. Critical bugs remain, while "features" are added, with no coherence and no roadmap. I have tried to explain to them that most accountants would rather have a broken system that we KNOW how to use as opposed to a system that changes weekly. You will know what I mean if you ever play around this system and see all the "dead" buttons and fields. Come on that's programming 101 remove the user fields if it no longer works.

Its a jack of all trades.

Its a master of none.

Pros

General Ledger and the member facing module. Especially the bank reconciliation application.

Cons

Nothing that is worthy of a remark. There was a large learning gap from Jonas to CE for my staff but they have adjusted nicely.

The implementation of Clubessential from Jonas more than two and a half years ago was much easier than I had expected. The easy-to-use, modern, and intuitive interface makes it easy to teach Clubessential to new team members. The SQL Server database architecture is robust and performs extremely well, particularly relative to the competition. Frequent updates and new functionality enhance the user, and member experience, on a regular basis.

Pros

Clubessential offers a full sweet of value-added features and provides the functionality necessary to deliver a rich club experience for our members and their guests. Clubessential offers seamless integration between back office, Point of Sale, website, and electronic marketing to eliminate duplication of data entry and provide the most efficient integrated suite for club management.

Cons

The integrated suite is more expensive than some of its competitors but, in our experience and estimation, well worth the additional expense.

Pros

We like the functionality of the tee sheet the most. Our members can now view the tee sheet online....something we've never had here before. The Golf Ops is able to better manage tee times and events using the easy to setup Special Events and Tee Time Admin. The mobile app is awesome! Members can do everything golf related on their phones. It's been well received. We especially like the ability to send push notifications.

Cons

Event setup isn't as seamless as it could be. Setting up and deleting blocks is tedious. We're not able to edit a block series. We're also not able to setup a recurring special event. We have a horserace at the club every Friday and we have to setup each event individually to create it's own link. Time consuming. It would be much easier to setup a special event one time and recur it, than to have to setup several at a time.

I'd like a bundle package for an all in usage. We'd love to add the App. and the Banquet module.

Pros

Works with Excel, and able to pull daily, weekly, monthly, date range and per item if necessary, gives a complete picture at any moment, when all is posted.

Cons

POS and Mobile, moving from classic to Mobile, could have been easier, and then when it come to room rentals, it is not ready.

We had a great sales and implementation process and have been using the software for three years and still love it. Customer Service has been really good as has been the developement team. I would certainly suggest CE to anybody in the market for club software.

Pros

ClubEssential has been a lifesaver! We were using another software before that was extremely cumbersome and all setup/changes were routed through one person who knew the software well. With CE, it's easy and intuitive interface makes setup and changes easy for end users. It's also fast and visually appealing. Also, the SQL backend is nice to have for querying data wheras our other software as a proprietary database.

Cons

There are certain features that don't get as much "love" from the programmers because they aren't used by many clubs. We use two of these features (Spa and Guest Rooms) and there isn't a lot of new development around these areas which can be frustrating.

Pros

Clubessential is exceptionally easy-to-use, and the grids (membership, employees, invoices, vendors, etc.) are very powerful and helpful. The SQL database is extremely fast and provides performance and security that is significantly better than competing systems. The mobile ordering functionality is the best in the industry.

Cons

Adjusting employee time records is a bit cumbersome. Client support can be a bit slow to respond.

Our implementation was interrupted but still completed easier than I expected. Our functionality is greatly improved and I can access data so much faster. We looked at all major choices and are very happy with our decision.

A night and day difference from what we had before. Very flexibility, much better reporting, excellent support.

It's ease is using and finding answers for questions. Usually, I only need assistance with inquiries on reports gathering or where to locate a particular feature.

Cons

The time it takes to have someone return your call or answer, but the majority of the time it is not extremely long.

Pros

I joined Davenport Country Club in November of 2020. The system was very easy to pick up for the accounting side of the club. The POS integrates nicely into the billing/accounting back office functions.

Cons

Creating custom reports through the genie can be cumbersome and we have seemed to get different results when selecting the same data at times. It may be a training issue on our end, but it has been one tool in the system that hasn't been easy to use by our staff.

CE is pretty easy to use. Back office is user friendly

Cons

The one feature that we don't like about CE is the Catering portal as it does not speak to the back office. It almost seems like it's two different systems. For our events coordinator it takes a lot of steps to create a BEO and then she has to go into the back office and create an event. It should be all as one.

I lost some automatic month end features that zeroed out house accounts when you close the month in AR.

This product is very user friendly. CE Support is also very helpful when I have run into problems in the past.

Honestly, I wasn't a fan of this software when I first began using it but once I learned the ins and outs of the product I am incredibly satisfied with using this all day everyday.

Pros

There's a lot of buttons, so your employees can waste plenty of time trying to figure out the issues they'll encounter each day.

Cons

#1 - Horrific Customer Service - I can't express just how stupendously bad their customer service is. They took 1 week to respond on average to each of our service calls. When they did call, the only addressed one issue at a time. When you have the same issue over and over again, they tell you that you'll need to call each time the issue presents itself instead of just fixing the software bug that causes reoccurring issue. The POS software malfunctions daily. The inventory portion of the software is incorrect constantly and they have no explanation or solution for it. DO NOT trust your business with this software.
