Comments: Immediate customer support is a huge plus

Pros: Ideal for hospitality..providing hospitality POS solutions that were once considerably more expensive. Understands the Australian market. Great customer support. Was having a problem at 7:30 am on a Saturday morning and got an immediate response from a real human. Big ticks for that! Easy to update and maintain.

Cons: a little bit steep for a new business. But overall a great piece of software..the retail capacity is limited but works well for a cafe with a few retail items.

Comments: Worst POS system ever. I would give zero stars if I could. Service was dismal and a lot of bugs with the program. It seems like the program was half completed when it was released. While it might perform at a satisfactory level when the business is relatively small and not as busy, this software clearly cannot handle when we have over 100 covers per service as there was no bugs during our quieter service period. Absolute waste of money and time. Only consolation I have is that I can use the reuse the hardware with other POS system as it was just iPads and cash register. Little follow up with the problems we had and when they did contact us, 90% of the time they were unable to resolve the issue. We had double prints of orders resulting in wasting and also missing prints of kitchen orders resulting in angry customers and damage to our reputation. If you are looking to get Kounta because it is cheaper, don't bother. We were happy to get rid of it.

Pros: Simplicity of the features and simple pricing structure. We were able to view all the reports remotely.

Cons: Buggy and full of errors especially during a busy restaurant service. Reports were insufficient and support was also unable to resolve the issues we were having.

Comments: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!! MOVE ON TO THE NEXT!

Pros: Nothing to say here. There is nothing good about this system except for the promptness of my customer service, who usually has bad news. But as I now understand my customer service rep doesn't ACTUALLY work for Kounta, she works for the company that sold it to me. I wish they would have sold me one of their other POS options.

Cons: Server level order control is an upgrade, they don't tell you that when purchasing, even though that is one of the most basic things. Check splitting is the most laborious I have ever experienced, if you have a table that needs multiple splits get them a refill of their coffee because it will take a while. No over all system close out, no way to re-open a check. In lieu of that simple option they have a refund button, but, guess what if you had multiple pay types IE Cash and CC that doesn't work, can only refund whole amount to one pay type, which then screws up the server report(one of the biggest reasons to have a POS system) Integrated credit card system has worst customer service ever. If you need to get someone after 9 good luck. Randomly loses checks! Have no idea how that happens but if you are on a check and the system reloads(which it does a lot) bye bye order!

Kounta has catapulted our Maleny Bowls Club into the 21st century literally overnight.

Pros: Ease of use for our volunteers has been a godsend. Back of house statistics, reporting and stock control make life so easy for our Providore and Treasurer. We now have mobile fingertip management of all aspects of our operations which is sensational. Within 14 days of introduction from our previous "cash only" operations we are exceeding 40% of transactions being on EFTPOS with functions running over 90%.

Overall: It has literally transformed our business model into a user friendly (especially for our team of volunteers who are mostly over retirement age and not accustomed to technology), dynamic management system that provides improved stock controls and incredible reporting for our management committee.

Great setup help. Excellent customer service. No problem to small to help with

Pros: Easy to setup. Zero Setup fees, sooooo easy to use!
Called them up several times on setup and immediately received help.

Overall: Any small to medium business owner that needs simple adaptable software to get the job done.

It is the only cloud based pos for hospitality I think we could use and run our business

Pros: The sales transaction from start to checkout is great. The printing of customer orders in multiple locations plus the kitchen. Modifier are also the best in the market.

Cons: Scales and scanner integration for use with a retail store. Scales can't be and scanner with Windows is clunky

Overall: It allows us to easily manage customer transaction and to report on total sales and products in a really efficient way. We've grown in our understanding of our business enormously just reusing kounta

Pros: It is pretty easy to use? The reports are easily generated. The ability to add and delete products and group them makes the system simple to navigate.

Cons: Kounta will not connect to printers other than Epsom, therefore I can't print! Having to write orders when I have a perfectly good printer sat next to the register is frustrating.

Pros: This software is great for any business, it can operate from an iPad and even a phone, very easy for finalising the Takings

Cons: At times the software has frozen and I had to shut and reboot the program, otherwise no complaints!!

Pros: Bump screen feature .is quiet good as it reduces the need to print paper.If we can remove the need to print totally it will be brilliant.

Cons: That it still makes us print lot of dockets for different things whereas it should be reduced to bump screen.

Overall: There are lots of customisable features.

Since my only experience in Pos was micros for 25+ years--kounta has changed my life.

Pros: easy to set up, basic steps guides to help you along.
Adding photos of products is a great tool to help the staff learn where items are in the till.

Cons: Having to wait for a call back - sometimes we need to troubleshoot/fix our problems straight away. booking a call is sometimes for us inconvenient.
Cash out with inter grated eftpos is too complicated and does not simplify it for my staff.

Overall: quick easy service, with less room for staff mistakes, easy tracking reports & streamline service.

Comments: a very disappointing and expensive experience. They have even now told me that they know Kounta is not really suitable for retails but more for hospitality. They had visited our store and discussed our needs....now they tell us they have another new programme we can buy from them. Consumer Affairs is my next stop

Pros: I have absolutely nothing good to say about Kounta, its programme or its service. Trying to talk them they just become argumentative. So I have given up.

Cons: very complex and clunky. scanning feature complex and doesn't work a lot of the time. too many steps to complete simple entry of products - downloading and uploading spreadsheets every time takes a lot of time and often causes errors when uploaded. after several months and many thousands of $ in wages trying to get it running and loaded and we are at the point of giving up. A very expensive exercise. While the system had so many problems, the sellers wanted to charge us for any training or fixing problems.

Comments: Great support, great options and fast functions. I would recommend Kounta to anyone and everyone. The only issue I have is internet drop out and this slowing down the firing of the cash draw. Apart from this; the team at Kounta is all over it with the updates and solutions to all the little web browser bugs.

Comments: we recently started our business with another POS system and in short it was a night mare. We had to press so many different buttons for the most basic things and the whole system was cumbersome!!
Thankfully we then changed over to Kounta and everything has been a dream since!! The ease of use, the access to immediate information and the support and team have made it an absolute pleasure to use. We have made many changes to our business for the better since implementing Kounta. It's by far the best POS system out there and I can't recommend them highly enough!!

Comments: We have been using Kounta in our cafe for over 6 months and it is fantastic. Easy to edit, easy to use and cost effective. New staff tend to pick it up and are using it without much support within a few days.

The access to information is really good and the reporting tools are spot on.

Overall: Kounta is the best point of sale.
I have set up five different POS systems since 2000 and Kounta is by far the best and most flexible.
Our business could not have grown as quickly, successfully or efficiently without it.
Absolutely love the production printing set up. Nothing compares.
Team this with Tyro EFTPOS and it's a total winner for fast bar service.

Overall: Through the different businesses, I have owned over the years I have set up from scratch five computerized Point Of Sales. Kounta is by far the easiest and most flexible product so far.
We run a busy country pub that has grown into an 80% food business.
Kounta allows us to have five people armed with an iPad at the peak of service. Whether on busy bar, dining room or take-away telephone orders Kounta has proven itself to be a fantastic interface between customers and product.
The tyro integration via wireless network has taken us from 50/50 cash to EFTPOS to more than 75% EFTPOS transactions. As fast as you can tap the card you've taken their money without any keying on the EFT terminal required.
The ease of use for staff is great because the Back office is so easy to set up with pictures on the Kounta screen.
In the two years, we have run Kounta the support team behind it have been fantastic, whether it's a minor operating issue through to the development of complex but easy to set up production printing interfaces ( we have 5 production printers across three areas of the pub).
Customers love it when you take their order at the table using an IPad mini and often ask about it. As the owner, it's nice to take an order for a table put it on hold and then be able to engage the customer in conversation knowing that behind the scenes staff are organising drinks and food from smartly laid out production dockets. When their drinks arrive and you are still chatting them without having to run off with some scrap of paper in hand they love it.
Get Kounta.
It's the best in 17 years for me.

Pros: Ease of alteration and basic use for staff

Cons: The back end of product input is a little cumbersome - a simply category/sub-category/sub-sub category system works best. Sometimes this is represented by Department/category/sub-category either way, it is far more flexible for product input, button organisation and more granular for reporting.

Overall: Kounta as a POS system has been able to grow with us, providing flexibility and ease of use that is a massive relief when you have the pressures of an expanding business to contend with.

The ability to simply add or subtract registers, combined with the functionality of a internet based system makes change relatively pain free. Wireless waiter stations, Albert pay terminals, Bluetooth printers (which I don't have but am excited about and will probably get), its all so easy to use.

Why pay thousands of dollars in cabling, installation costs and labour in setting up your system? Good question - i'm not sure! Just research what you want - call Kounta, put it in and download the software... add your products, tailor it the way you want, and go for it!

Cons: Can sometimes reload during transaction but it is very quick.

Overall: Having used Kounta for 4 months it is proving it's worth. Running the system on Jiffy Vans it allows me to be able to take card payments linked to an izettle card reader. It is easy to update, has a great range of back office information which can help with menu planning, logistics, cash reconciliation and more. Customers love the set up and are amazed when they see such a system on the vans. With regular updates and good customer support Kounta is now an important tool in my business.

Pros: Looks amazing - especially when working in conjuntion with bump it and Boppl!

Cons: Keeps failing

Overall: Three times Ive tried to get my Kounta up and running at an event but it failed. Hopefully bugs are all out and it can do the job it is meant to do!!!!

Pros: It is an easy to understand system that a no technical background person can set it up easily.
Its features are well thought out which easily enhance the confidence of any front counter staff that use them for the first time.

Cons: Every software has its weaknesses, however, it seems that improvements (new releases) are consistent. That helps in this face paced hospitality industry.

Overall: Thanks to the great resources and easy to follow guides found in Kounta TV & Kounta Support Setup Videos, I didn't even have to call customer service for tech support to setup my initial kounta program. It was up and running in minutes for me.

Pros: Overcomes the issue of staff not being able to read or do any math.
Provides multiple copies of invoices so that service can easily be tracked.
Allows lots of options to modify products which gives each client an individual experience.

Cons: Takes ages to set up if you have hundreds of products and options......but it is worth doing.

Overall: We have found Kounta to be excellent for our cafe. Staff need no maths skills to operate it easily. the addition of photos makes product selection fast and accurate.

The only thing to watch is disgruntled staff that have been removed from rosters........they can sabotage the system by changing or deleting things. My advice, once they have been given notice immediately remove their access to Kounta and give them other duties until their time has been completed.

Recommendations to other buyers: It would be great if the register users name was printed on all production receipts and the Bump.

Overall: We switched to Kounta from another cloud based POS system around 6 months ago. We are very happy with change and glad we made the move. The support team are great and always get back to you. The reporting isn't as good as our old POS however the team are working on this to deliver a new level of reporting in the near future.

Pros: i like the flexibility and ease of the functionality

Cons: i would like afterpay or zip pay to be available. i feel like we are loosing a lot of business because these arent available.

Overall: Simple, functional, easy for any age to use, amazing features. I find Kounta really easy to use and they have simplified it enough for my mum to use as well. she isn't overly tech savvy!

Comments: Though I am currently still setting up the Kounta back office and we haven't launched yet, the support from Customer support representative and the crew has been fantastic. I have never used a POS so the whole concept was very new to me, nor am I a computer buff! They are always quick to respond to queries and very patient !

Overall: I worked at Mcdonalds for 4 Years as a crew trainer and I found using Kounta on an Ipad Air was simpler and a better experience. Quicker and more customizable!
There are some features that are missing that we as a business require. Quantity on the Tax Invoice is important for us to have for Corporate Customers!

Pros: Inventory Control and all the add ins

Cons: Partial connection wit XERO, Only Sales and payments from customers but no Inventory control and Accounts payable in XERO

Overall: I have tried to use Kounta as inventory module to XERO, but I have found that the systems don't talk to each other to create the account Payable for the suppliers and manage the Inventory in XERO. I have to enter the purchases in to Kounta and Xero, working twice for the same operation.

Pros: The ease of use, and the simplicity of the screens.

Cons: Nothing.

Overall: While originally using a completely outdated and problematic POS system, we were put in touch with the team at Kounta. They were explained as being the most genuine team in the business, but always on hand to help and with a system which really spoke for itself.

Not only was the recommendation totally correct, I am now the one spreading the word of just how simple the transition was, and how happy we are with the product.

Not only is it a really easy system to set up and organise, especially with the helpful team over at Tech Panty - a shout out to Andy who is such a 'yes-man' and always on the problem solving case - , we were completely changed over on such a tight time limit with absolutely no stress from our end.

We've been up and running for a few weeks now, and staff members who were completely dedicated to the old systems are now totally sold on the new system Kounta has provided. It is an easy system to set up, use on a day to day basis and fills all of the reporting tick boxes you can have.

The fact that these teams have worked in hospitality really shows through the product; it's set up like it has been trialed for a number of years with all issues that could have arisen already ironed out.

10/10.

Recommendations to other buyers: Really give the reins over to these guys, they know what they're doing and they are experts in setting it up for you to use with absolute ease.

Overall: Kounta is slow and clunky which is common for a web based app. It has a wide range of features but the app is far from the price of $100/MO price tag. Other services like Square and Vend are a lot better and are value for money not like Kounta.

Customer service is good with the integration of the live chat but it doesn't feel like and app it feels like a link to their website. Please make the app better and make the process of adding modifiers A LOT easier as trust me it is not fun.

People who work in the cafes find Kounta a jumbled mess when it comes to getting through their shifts.

Overall Kounta is an ok POS system and has a wide range of ad ons but its let down by a poor design and clunkiness due to it being web based. I would not recommend it to any friends starting business.

Pros: The best thing about Kounta is that it is relatively easy to use. This comes at a great expense however since despite the pretty and fancy interface the features a busy restaurant need (like a robust method of splitting checks), solid timeclock integration, and solid EFTPOS integration are grossly lacking. The entire software has a very 'beta like' feel to it!

Cons: Poor EFTPOS integration, buggy and slow once many orders are entered, very weak timeclock integration, very poor check splitting feature. With as many buggy issues you would think that their customer support would be interested in helping but they simply tell you that they are looking into the issues and to post to their discussion forums (because a busy restaurant owner dealing with a buggy POS has time for that!)

Recommendations to other buyers: Be very wary of the stated claims and features as many are poorly developed. We previously used Aldelo POS in the US but it is unavailable in NZ. If you are using it for a small cafe with one terminal and a hard wired EFTPOS solution it may work for you. Full-scale restaurant users will choke on it.

Pros: The way it's continually developing with amazing features. It's like they are reading my mind; just as I think of something, it's being implemented.

Cons: That it does not support eftpos New Zealand, yet other than that, there is not a lot to dislike.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's a great tool; we have a complex restaurant menu, and it works nicely. Cheap to make changes as you can do it yourself. Reporting is tops. Very affordable once in place. Always improving. Fantastic support.

Comments: I am a cloud integrator and have implemented a number of Xero + POS add-ons. I select Kounta for my customers purely on its hospitality focus and it's table management add-on. I have been really impressed with how it handles the concept of modifiers and how smooth the integration is with Tyro electronic payments. In short, I am a big fan of Kounta POS in food & beverage. Totally recommend.

Pros: When up and running my customers love using this product. The POS register is really powerful and soon after becoming power users the only niggling complaint I get are small enhancements to customisations which are unfortunately locked down in the product anyway. e.g. layouts on receipts, dockets, shortcuts panel, etc. I have also been really impressed with Kounta's email support and communication on release notes. You can really tell they are working hard in making this product better and better.

Cons: However, I feel that there is a lot of navigating around the 'back office' to get what you need to get done. The CSV data importers are good, but I still found I had to do many repetitive updates manually via the user interface that the importer didn't support. The user interface is a bit big and boxy for my liking but understandably some see this as a benefit if working off a tablet in a cafe most of the time. Comments: Kounta has continually supported us from the initial set up in our retail stores to the continual development of the back office. Kounta has tailored its offering to suit our business needs and continues to take on board our feedback and our requests for newer developments. We have seen Kounta grow from a simple interface to a more well rounded solution. We find their support to be good. As our needs grow we hope that Kounta can continue to move with us.

The POS interface has continually developed since its inception, this aspect has been excellent. There are elements of the back office that we would like more development in so we can use Kounta as a one stop shop. For a business that is starting out Kounta is a viable option. For a bigger business with more reporting tools and statistical needs Kounta would be satisfactory.

Comments: Moving from our clunky till system to anything new, we expected improvements. However Kounta totally exceeded all of our expectations and taken our super busy food venue to the next level. Our staff have been so enthusiastic to use the iPad based system and training them was very quick and easy. The Kounta interface is very easy to navigate and our staff are spending more time giving the customers quality personal service.
The combination Kounta on iPads, with the speed it delivers, work flow improvements, and awesome reporting, have all combined to great effect. We have seen capacity grow, and sales increase to levels we did not think we could achieve.

Comments: I love Kounta and think it is and has every potential to be the most easy to use and efficient POS system on the market.

Pros - VERY well priced and the customer is growing their business along with the growth of Kounta as the updates arrives. It is a simplified well and truly easy to use software. That is the best selling tool for any small businesses to digest and implement asap.

Cons - As Kounta gets busier, the online support I find is starting lag a bit. 2 years ago when I was a customer, I used to get a response to my questions within minutes. Now as a Kounta Partner more like anywhere from 1 hour to next day. Updates usually also seem to come with glitches so seems like more testing needs to be done prior to launching the update.

Overall a great software for small business owners and now its time to allow the software to be integrated into bigger venues that requires more functions!

Comments: Product is good but not all encompassing.
We need to be able to amend previously finalised takings if changes or errors are made. This has been communicated to Kounta and apparently will be looked at and hopefully rectified in a further release??
The price schedules are limited and not really applicable for my size organisation. I would like to have 2 x POS devices however paying more than $50 per month would lead me to making the once of purchase for a non-cloud customised POS system. The fact you need to add a new register to have an additional device seems ludicrous to me and I would beleive would limit your customer base. What about all the cafes out there that want one register but multiple devices to take orders. Sorry to be critical but it appears to be a mechansim of revenue raising, albeit you could get the same results from just growing your customer base by having a more universal and cost effective product.
I'd suggest you could come up with some alternate pricing schedules where adding an additional device for $10 per device per month versus a whole register would add value to your product. I'd happily pay $60 per month to have one register and two devices to take orders to that register.
Maybe I'm missing some sort of constraint hindering you from enabling multiple devices on the one register however in this day and age I would have thought it would be easy.
Food for thought, I won't be increasing my subscription but rather work around this limitation.
Again, I'm not trying to be critical but what I get for $50 per month from Xero for a cloud based accounting software versus what I currently receive from Kounta for $50 is a month, the difference in value us astounding.
