Sr Mgr, EHS Printing Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Sr Mgr, EHS" July 9, 2026 1.0 Mixed bag with flex. It's a good form builder, but not much else. I have been able to replicate what it can do in google or monday with better data/dashboard results. You can pull lots of data points from your forms and make them quite extensive. But the lack of across-the-board customization, at-form dashboards, the site's slowness, limited dashboard usage, and the inability to support slightly more extensive functions like risk assessments without becoming a burden were more of a burden on our company than a benefit. Additionally, they only deal in annual contracts, so if you try to get an extension, it can only be for a year, which is a thumbs-down for us. Pros Good form builder. Good customer support. The support staff seems open to meeting and supporting any concerns. Cons Essentially just an extensive/fancy form builder. Doesn't feel like a good safety software for managing standard safety functions. Slow. Dashboards are extensively limited. Only annual terms. Review Source CW Calvin W. The sales group presenting to us was up front from the start which was important to us. We are a very eager business and are sure of the decisions we make. The ability to jump over the theatrics of multiple tedious discussions, pre-demo, to allow us to truly see KPA's benefits from the start, easily put KPA's product as the front runner as we worked through multiple EHS Software providers. Much appreciation for the transparency. Pros Personal interactions from the Sales rep. \[sensitive content hidden\] was very easy to work with, forward with KPA's abilities, and clear on the information we needed to make our decision to purchase. Cons What could easily become a very strong selling point for your entire sales team is if the SDS module came standard with the platform. SDS management can be a bear, and costly for no reason. This would be a very strategic move for KPA to include this standard with the platform as it is a must in general industry, yet so costly for minimal viewership of the actual SDS's. You could easily make a Safety professionals day by not making them pay for this separately and needing to convince Executive management it's necessity. It has been a great to help improve our communication with our employees Pros It is easy to use and set up for the entire company. Also the training aspect is awesome. Since every one of our employees has an account, we are also utilizing KPA as a way of communicating to our employees and gathering information back from the on many other topics other than safety. Cons It takes a minuet to get your head wrapped around how the forms work when you go to start creating your own, but once you get it KPA is really easy to use. Reason for choosing Novara Flex Having the customizable training platform included was the thing that ultimately pushed us over but if I would have realized the full functionality of the system I would have jumped at it a lot faster. We have been able to make many forms paperless and that makes storing and finding documents easier. Also there is the ability to take data from other sources and automate information. Cons Depending on the package you purchase, not all features are available. If you don't need some of these features than it is not a con. The way KPA is structed you pay per employee profile. Even if the employee doesn't ever need to log in or not required to. Now if you are a company that does not have a safety program or your own training material paying the extra amount would be good for you. For me my company we have robust safety programs and training material. We just need to track the employee sign offs and have the ability to ensure we have 100% completion. The only way to achieve this through KPA is to pay for each employee to have a profile. For a smaller company this a good option. Review Source WMM Wes Marsh M. " January 27, 2023 5.0 I sing the praises of KPA to every one I meet. Once employees in the company realized how easy it was to use the implementation went through the roof. Everybody wanted to add their forms/resources to KPA and it has become an integral part of our operation. Pros This software is simple for the administrator and the user. It simply works. Employees are able to log in and get right to work without learning a whole bunch of new processes. Cons The biggest sticking point for us is the ability to add options to the testing. The quiz function is limited to multiple choice and it would be nice to add an option for a short answer question. We also would like the ability to add an optional training in a composed training which would help us automate our entire progression system. VP of HSEQ Oil & Energy Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Changing Safety Culture Using Technology" July 22, 2020 5.0 When I review our lagging indicators, the impact of focusing on the leading indicators is evident in the 75% reduction in our total recordable incident rate. On average, I review 850 reports each month, including JSA’s, observations and inspections as soon as they are completed and submitted in the field. Information sharing is improved, and risks are reduced for employees in the field through the speed of knowledge transfer. Our customers prefer the reports through iScout for the clean format and the quick turnaround when requested. iScout gives us the ability to provide unlimited access to numerous resources that are available to our employees, including access to our updated standard operating guidelines. An employee will choose to use a tool that is user-friendly with proven results of increased safety. I have recommended this software numerous times without reservation. Our company also won the prestigious North Dakota Petroleum Council award based on the use of technology in safety. Pros The iScout safety software provides a platform to manage a fully integrated safety system for our employees. The system provides the ability to manage reporting and training, along with equipment management. The oil and gas industry has begun to focus on using leading indicators when working towards safety excellence. A safety approach that is easy to use equals increased participation by all employees and will ultimately lead to the success of the program. Cons Challenges with the implementation of the program were training on iScout due to our remote work sites, technology challenges such as internet connectivity, and changing the mindset of the older oil and gas worker to adapt to real time technology. All of our workers prefer the technology over previously used paper forms once they understood how easy the system is to operate. There have been no issues with the software, simply challenges with implementation to the field worker. Reason for choosing Novara Flex I was familiar with iScout through my previous employer and knew it was what we needed at Fortis Energy Services. I've known \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] for many years, and he is a well respected safety professional that has contributed greatly to the oil and gas industry. Low cost per employee, with the ability to customize our own training and reports, made it the only option I considered using. When I submitted the proposal to my \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\], he said, "This is exactly what I've been asking for!" The platform offers multiple tools such as the training module, equipment, and QR codes that help us utilize one enterprise-wide solution. The offline functionality is critical for our field operators to submit incidents and inspections in areas that have limited to no service. KPA is very easy for administrators to build and make updates to the system. Pros The user interface, ease of use for administrators! Most importantly, the exceptional customer service!!! Cons Not HIPPA compliant. Would like more functionality with building reports and adding more capabilities with building rules within the forms. Not only do we consistently hear this feedback from our workforce, but we were able to build the software from scratch and implement KPA to our workforce in only a month. Cons Education during the implementation process was left to the admins too much. It was a self-serve process. Pros We love the ability to curate our trainings, forms, and other critical organizational information in a way that fits out unique industry and needs. The level of customization is why we made the switch! Cons Form building can be repetitive and some level of default settings would be a value add. KPA Flex stood above other EHS software in a way that allows the end user to build what is needed into their platform without other product features that are not necessary. It really helps our office employees see what the field crews do and helps other locations see what they deal with as well. Pros I was attracted to the ease of developing reports, training, etc. and it has done more than expected. The simplicity for our employees is what makes it work. Cons There's not much if anything I don't like. Maybe the layout of a form when using the "Select" option. For example, when selections are made and the report is submitted, the "select" sections go to a sentence form with commas. I'd rather see the selections stacked, like in a column form. Last thing, the names \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] and iScout were much catchier and likened to. Our company still calls it iScout. Reason for choosing Novara Flex I can't remember their name but at the time, they had customers like Coca Cola and some professional sports teams. Their product looked very similar but way to expensive for a company like ours. And the way \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\]sold (at the time) \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] and demonstrated it in person was all I needed. We are integrating departments through this robust tool. Pros KPA presented the company with a uniform, unified reporting and management conduit that significantly reduced the latency in reporting. My labor hours as Management have been reduced by as much as an entire workday. Cons KPA software add-ons can at times be pricey. We were quoted above $10K for a single training module. Some user are professional while others are beginners. KPA is user friendly and on the first day of deployment, one user said. "The system is self explanatory and very easy to follow." When I have an issue arise, the customer support staff is very fast in responding and quick with a possible solution. There are no "voting buttons" to get something resolved. Cons I am not able to pull action items (follow ups) from one source and do a dive into where they came from. How many were from an audit, incident, investigation, inspection, etc. I was told this is in the works. June 20, 2024 5.0 Pros KPA allows me to not only pull from a large resource of training courses and documents, but I can also customize them to our company's needs. The resources and flexibility that KPA offers are its two biggest draws. Cons The only con with KPA lies in certain functionality; when a report is pulled with parameters, unless the results are opened in a new window, clicking back on the browser will reset the search. So, it's vital to remember to open everything in a new window when searching in the manner as to avoid having to enter all the filters in the search again. Review Source CD Charles D. It's so much better than keeping track of items in multiple spreadsheets. The reports that can be generated from it are great because we can see what's trending whether it be positive or negative. The customer service is great and quick to reply when I have a question or concern. Pros The mobile app is easy to use and navigate, especially for our field personnel. Filling out forms/reports and submitting them is relatively simple. If no cell service is available at the time a report is submitted from the field it will automatically update and submit the form when service becomes available. I like that I can create my own forms and tailor them to our company's needs. Cons I can think of two things that I have always found lacking with iScout via a desktop computer. 1. The inability to click on "previous" and "next" when reviewing reports one after the other. These would make for much easier navigation. When I do go "back" I have to start from the beginning with all the reports listed and scroll to the one I want. It takes me back to the top of the list and the report I need could be on page 4. This can be very time consuming. 2. I think the "search" ability is lacking. I have found on occasion that when I put in key word (e.g. facility or location name) or date I get zero results back. I notice this when I attempt to search for old incident reports that I know have been submitted because I have old emails but they don't show up in my seach results. Of all programs I previously use with previous companies, IScout is the most simplistic and user friendly while presenting the most professional formatted operating system to date. Pros The simplicity and user friendliness of the software. Cons Unable to customize and tailor cosmetics of reports. Most reports look identical to each other. If you're looking for something you can tailor to your company needs, KPA should not be overlooked, it can be pricey but it has done its job for us. You can take one of its features and adapt and customize it to do anything from simple to incredibly complex. Cons I like to work out of something more of a spreadsheet format and I don't see that as possible within KPA. Admittedly, though, that's simply personal preference. We prefer the electronic documentation compared to paper since we can no longer lose the docuements. Pros KPA offers many valuable features and functions that make our everyday jobs easier. KPA has great reporting features when looking back at submitted forms. In addition, KPA has a mobile application that is great for submitting forms when you have no internet connection.
