I like how I get a quick response in the help chat box Pros I like that parents get instant information about their child’s learning journey. I like that parents and teachers can log in from anywhere, and also parents can log in and reflect on their child’s learning long after they have left the centre and keep their stories as a learning record. Family day care educator Education Management Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "I am happy using STORYPARK " April 3, 2019 5.0 I am a family day care educator. I was doing children’s portfolio making files and writing on paper, sending home, waiting for parents to send the portfolio back. And most of the time, it would come back with torn paper. And also parents didn’t spend much time going through it. With STORYPARK, parents can access their child’s learning journey whenever they have time. They also see their child’s growth and development as they can see previous reports sent to them and compare them with the latest ones. They see the pictures of the activities their child has done. And they can access their child’s account for 7 years. Pros No paper work required. Parents can access as and when they want. I can write anywhere, anytime. STORYPARK is easy to understand and my work can be access by my field officers when they want to see. It is easy for parents to see how their child is doing as they can log in whenever they want. Pros I like how simple it ease to share with families, it makes our day to day stories and observations easy to produce and keep track of. The observation side of Xplor is not nearly as popular with staff as Storypark is. I still use Storypark for my admin posts as I can easily add photos and newsletters where I find Xplor only allows me to add words. Pros My staff found Storypark very easy to use once they had become accustomed to it. Parents were able to interact with staff to discuss daily education programs. Administration staff communicated with parents easily and efficiently. They love that they can use this as a way to contribute to our curriculum and be involved in their child's early learning journey. Pros Storypark is easy to use and is clear for all educators and families. It allows me to link my documentation together to ensure each child and group has a cycle of planning. I can attach supporting documentation such as PDF files, photos, videos and voice memos. Cons I would like to be able to edit the stories a bit more to make them more engaging. This program has strengthened our whanau participation in their childs learning by giving them an easy platform to view and contribute. It's easy to use and meets all our needs. Cons When I first started using storypark it wasn't as colourful as the documentation I was producing, and I wondered if this would be less appealing to whanau. Pros I like the diversity of Story Park in that I can write learning stories, individual goals and plan in one platform and link learning written as PDFs. It allows for sending private messages and community posts which means that families are getting information and know what is happening in the Centre. Paret feedback is very positive they enjoy the regular updates on the child's learning. Storypark is also a very functional tool in documenting Internal Evaluations and teachers Individual Inquiries with the capacity to upload and link to other related stories or plans. I received push notifications for various events and mostly enjoyed reading the thoughtful stories that teachers wrote and getting learning summaries/reports on my child. Unfortunately my child now attends a different daycare that uses the 'Hi Mama' app which is not as good for many reasons. Pros \- The 'newsfeed' style interface - clear labelling of who posted what, tagging of individuals/children in stories - photos/video appear clearly, easy to zoom in on phone - the fact that teachers could write stories - not just log events like with other software - ability for parents to add comments Cons \- i would like to be able to download the photos on to my phone Review Source KW Katie W. It has been a great asset to our organization to be able to document the children's learning on a secure platform that parents can easily access at their convenience. Pros Storypark is a great tool to document children's learning and communicate with parents and staff. Cons Would be nice as an admin to be able to see the conversations between teachers and parents. We often use the articles for staff development and enjoy seeing international early childhood information as well. Pros Being able to link to our learning sets has provided not only accountability but also acts as a professional learning tool for educators. I find the software providers are on board with what we need. For us too it has increased communication between educators and families. Pros How easy it is to use, how quick it is to download external stories. Cons The limited access to storypark for teachers using the app. We would love to be able to access the plans so they can see their planning etc on their tablets using the app. Would like to be able to copy across plan templates from one centre profile to the next. At the moment we need to write to the support centre to do this. We would love better support. It does a long time to hear back from anyone and when you do you have to screen shot all of your errors. Can work it out easily ( learning stories that is ) we PDF our stories from comic life and Pages. Do not use for planning yet... not so straightforward to work out. Appears ‘ complicated ‘.... non contact time is precious, so to ‘ work it out’ meet as a team and agree etc not so simple. Children send in photographs from home to share with their friends; we can communicate quickly with parents about important community news and happenings; and parents love our daily diary and regularly learning stories. The reports are outstanding to track activity across the centre. Pros Visually easy to see, navigate and it is pleasing to work with. Teachers on the run - this is an important feature. Cons I think the planning section could have more features. We use this for all our planning and would like more options. Pros It is user friendly and provides an indepth platform to embrace whole centre planning. Cons The printing of stories and plans is time consuming and not always good for the environment in terms of pages to print. The plans are not flexible and the printed plan is difficult to read. Ease of contact with families, the ability to share announcements as well as a one stop portal to access each child's learning. Not to mention the environmental benefits in terms of the paper we save! Would highly recommend. Pros The ability to communicate with families instantly throughout the day via photos, messages and videos. This is invaluable in the Nursery room where parents of new infants need that little extra support! Cons It is sometimes confusing to add to plans when using an iPad (scrolling, etc). Pros Storypark has made programming and documenting very easier to use while being busy with looking after children. It also enable you to communicate with the parents much more easier than using a telephone as you can add more details to your message.
