Pros

The price of Holistics is very good compared to their competitors, some being 10x the cost but would not deliver 10x the value. The team at Holistics is very friendly and always open to feedback, which we really liked. They are always looking to improve their product and get community and key customer feedback into their product. I like that they provide a single place for you to model your data and the interface for modelling (both Code and Visual) allow for good flexibility in creating what you want to do.

Cons

Holistics is missing a few key features which does make it a little harder to use than other systems. This can mean additional work or complexity when trying to do something quite complex within Holistics e.g. Role Playing Dimensions or cross model calculations.

We have been able to use Holistics to promote a self-service data culture across the whole company. All business teams are actively making use of Holistics. Marketing teams use Holistics every day to monitor marketing performance and aid decisions on campaign optimizations and lead attribution. Our finance team uses it to track all unit metrics for operations of the business, from recurring revenue, churn to retention. We basically cover everything with Holistics. It's the only BI tool we have.

Pros

1) The data modeling as-code is great. It saves a lot of time and it helped us migrate from one data warehouse to another. Modifying SQL syntax is easy and it helped save a lot of time. 2) Business users can easily explore from existing dashboards to answer their own questions. This solved our data exploration limitation faced with Data Studio. 3) Overall cadence of feature releases is impressive as well as customer support and reliability of the product.

Cons

The only thing we are missing is the management of dashboards as code as it would help speed up the development and lower the maintenance time needed for that part of Holistics (I understand this feature is about to be released in Beta soon).

Holistics makes building 3rd party reports very efficient. It took me 2 hours to build the same report in Holistics that I took 16 hours to build in Tableau. Also re-using that report in Holistics takes about 5 button clicks whereas Tableau would take many more steps. The tool is very extensible and reduces repetition. I am excited to see continued growth.

Pros

Simple setup and many options to connect your data source. The UI for building reports is extremely user friendly and also allows dynamic inputs. The data model feature is amazing: makes it easy for us to manipulate fields and transform data prior to report generation. Embed options are critical for our business and Holistics provides a great solution! Reports are repeatable with little additional effort - build and reuse is very straightforward. Overall this tool provides everything you get with other BI solutions while also being smarter, more efficient, and more extensible. They did an amazing job of building a user friendly solution that allows power users to leverage their SQL skills to make the perfect reports. Creating filters and the cross-filter options Holistics provides is a MASSIVE WIN! Removes the headache of building filters that work across an entire dashboard.

Cons

Design options are very minimal, you do not have any control really over the design. Some reports provide different color options, but generally the ability to brand your reports is very limited.

I wanted to rebuild a dashboard I made in Tableau, and did this in a few different tools. Holistics was the most user-friendly, they support technical pass throughs for SQL, we achieved the desired result in a fraction of the time it took in Tableau. Embed options with Holistics are perfect and the support team has been awesome!

Tableau has been a horrible experience. - The reporting setup is not user friendly, and editing SQL is still required in many cases. This is impossible to maintain as you would need to manage every single join view anytime the DB schema changes and remember which reports have direct SQL adjustments... the data model in Holistics centralizes this and makes it easy to manage - The customization in Tableau is limitless, while this is great if you want full control, it actually creates a TON more work for the end users. Just getting a page to look and act the way you want it to requires a ton of time and experience in using the tool NOT USER FRIENDLY - Support tickets were not resolved.... cases drag 5-10+ weeks, these timelines are not sustainable for a business

Holistics has successfully become part of the fabric of our business, underpinning our efforts to become data driven while offering good value for money for the number of users and representing a low TCO due to low admin overhead.Coming from a Looker background, I was very familiar with its concepts of analytics-as-code, and generally we have been able to achieve everything we needed in terms of reporting. The experience can lack the polish of Looker but this is definitely fuller featured than Looker in its early days.

Overall, it's been great.

Pros

Data modeling - Holistics gives you the power of other, more expensive SQL-based modeling tools at a budget-friendly price that scales as your needs grow. In addition, it provides persistence mechanisms to a variety of destinations and integrations with other common data tools such as spreadsheet software. While some of the functionality is a bit limited, it's a great way to start analyzing data across a variety of different sources! Self-service reporting - once you've built out your analysis-friendly data models, building a variety of reports and dashboard is simple, and with just a bit of training even our non-analyst users are building their own reports in minutes.

Cons

Organization - there's quite a few quirks when it comes to organizing your data models and reports. A couple examples include the inability to rename data models once they've been created and the fact that all reports \*must\* be associated with a dashboard and can't be shared on multiple dashboards. Data visualization options aren't the most visually appealing and offer limited ability to customize.

\- Enabled stakeholder access to data via self-serve, reduced data team BAU burden and allowed us to focus on higher value task- Works well with the Modern Data Stack paradigm- Great in our requirement discovery phase, when we weren't sure what kind of regular dashboards would be needed. Allowed stakeholders/users to do the first level of requirement discovery via their own self-serve, and iterated on that afterwards.

\- Reasonable pricing per-user, good for data democratisation initiatives- Self-serve tooling and data set are more flexible than most competitors, while remaining quite reliable- Very easy to set up and connect to data warehouse, with dbt and git integrations- Team regularly releases new features

My overall experience with Holistics has been really positive. They are transparent about their roadmap and good at progressing new features, updating the UI, and responding to customer feedback.

Pros

Integration with DBT was the initial attraction and demonstrates a clear understanding of where the modern data stack is headed. The UI remains simple to use but at the same time meets most use cases. Customer service is responsive and helpful.

Overall, I've really enjoyed developing reports with Holistics and the staff has been very responsive to feedback and feature requests.

Pros

As an analytics engineer, I was looking for a tool that allowed me a lot of data modeling flexibility and reusability. With AML, Holistics does a good job of being able to define data models and relationships using code.As a user and data consumer, I liked how intuitive it was to set up good looking dashboards with interactive features and simple row-level security policies.

Cons

Holistics doesn't feel "fully baked" yet and has some rough edges. I'm really looking forward to some of the more advanced parameterization and modeling features that are expected to be released with AMQL later this year. I'd also like to see some more visualization options.

I've been a customer of Holistics for around 2 years now, since 2018. We love Holistics and find it an invaluable tool to run our business.

Pros

\- Very easy to use. Unlike other tools, I got the hang of Holistics pretty fast. I'm the one in charge of creating reports for people in my company, so Holistics saved me quite a bit of time on this and I managed to spend my time doing other important stuff. - I like how Holistics have helped me to automate some of the repetitive tasks. We sent out email schedules automatically for everyone on our team to stay updated. - Good customer service - Fast support team

Cons

\- Issues in data imports does not always have enough context. - Some minor bugs, not a big issue as they fixed the bugs quite fast. If they can't fix it, they would get back to us with a workaround. The people in their support know the product well.

We have several products competing for engineering resources, and having a product like Holistics saves us the time from building the reports and dashboards ourselves. The fact that it has a robust scheduled delivery feature, we always start our morning with reading our product metrics delivered to us via Slack and e-mail.

Pros

Easy setup, Intuitive drag and drop UI, schedules report delivery, and most of all the world class support team

Cons

Occasional edge-case bugs, mostly visual. However, they are always addressed quickly and sufficient workarounds are suggested while they are being looked into.

With Holistics now we are able to track the important metrics to our business on the cloud at an affordable price for our startup. When we started looking for B.I solutions we thought that these services average pricing would make them available only to mid and large companies, and other cheaper services would not meet the minimum requirements that we were looking for. Holistics was the best price/quality option we found after testing at least 6 B.I services.

Pros

Holistics allowed us to connect our ERP database directly to get near-realtime vision on the most important business KPIs to see how we can keep growing our company. We've tried almost 6 online B.I solutions and Holistics was the one that allowed our startup to have a cost-effective dashboard with fully feature graphs and tools that even if we had more money to spend, we would still keep using Holistics as it has everything we need. Another specific feature that we liked is that we are able to make a share-able URL to our dashboard so we can show to our shareholders how things are going quite easily. While configuring the first dashboard months ago we noted some visual glitches at a feature. We sent an e-mail reporting the situation and they solved it pretty fast, so the support is pretty nice as well.

Cons

As we are not going to see the dashboards every day, it's important for us to keep track of each day indicators. We found interesting to use the scheduled email export feature which send us a report of the dashboard every day. The e-mail shows the indicators clearly and also attaches some spreadsheets from the reports. We think it could get even better if we could also get attached a PDF version of the dashboard with the same layout as the one we configured at Holistics site.

Great experience overall. Customer support is really receptive.

Pros

The biggest benefits that I've realized after using Holistics are: 1) For dashboard creation, something that would take me several hours if I write SQL queries, I was able to do in a few minutes with Holistics with just a little bit of tweaking. 2) Our data request queue was reduced from one month to almost instantaneous. Our end users who don't know how to write SQL are able to get the data they need very quickly and they're able to make more informed data decisions. 3) With Holistics, I can minimize the amount of raw SQL I have to write in a day. Because my business users are able to rapidly help themselves with the datasets and reports that we provided them. We particularly love the drill-throughs and cross-filtering functionalities.

Cons

nothing. It is great. would easily recommend it to my colleagues in the analytics industry.

We were able to acccomplish the following; 1. It's easy to analyse our datasets. 2. We can create any variation of dashboards and implement it for our client usage in seconds.

Pros

Holistics aim to make it easy for semi-tech users to be able to make an analysis on their own without the need for technical assistance. It's really easy to set up and you can get running within minutes after connecting your databases.

Cons

As your databases get more complex and you require some processing before merging the relationships, Holistics might not be the best software. That said, they are probably not designed for this function.

Pros

As we use it as a Self Service platform, so the main users are non-technical we needed a tool very easy to use as Holistics is. Many types of visualizations with powerful features, and in addition very professional looking. Very good customer support to ask questions when needed. They show you workarounds if needed. They are great. They are continuously improving the platform and releasing new features, so we know that what we don't have right now will be at some point :) So, in summary we are super happy to be working with Holistics.

Cons

Low capability of customization. What it has is OK, but It would be perfect to have more freedom. I also would like to have drill-down feature in charts

We can build custom report easily without having to think how we translate it into visualization.

Pros

The products is easy to use. Basically it has a standard query builder, and from the result we can build the visualizatio as we like. And the interesting part, we can build one query and reuse based on filter templates

Cons

I can say the access time, sometimes its depend on the internet access but also when all user access dashboard at the same time we need to wait a bit longer to show the report

The software simply works as advertised. The price to value ratio for us is also quite high. The speed at which they're able to resolve bugs for us has also been quite impressive.

Cons

We use Bigquery and found that there are some Bigquery specific features which would help us quite a bit which they don't support (Like the preview feature or the query validator)

We started working with Holistics as an alternative to powerBI and with the support of the Holistics crew we managed to get an extensive set of reports and dashboard up in no time. The option to email reports to multiple users is very handy.

Pros

It's really easy to setup and within minutes you have reports and dashboards that you can easily distribute. The support from the Holistics team is great, if you have questions or feature requests they respond quickly.

Cons

It is not as extensive as some other products but for most users this wont be an issue. What you do have to keep in mind is that the queries are ran on your server so it can give some pressure on your DB.

Pros

I love the filters, email schedules and the data imports. The fact that those are pretty useful and sort of painless to use to me is great. But most of what I like is the support and constant improvements made to the product! (love that new years animation in the menu bar too). Looking forward to more innovations hopefully some simple machine learning implementations that can help us clean and visualize data

Cons

People in my organization tend to export a report and do pivots and simple excel-like things to the data which I find to be very counter-productive so maybe introducing a feature to sort that out would be helpful. I wish it had a more Google Drive sharing and viewing system, right now if I give access to a report, to a particular user, that user also sees the folder in which that report lies which is not really cool, they also don't have the ability to manage their reports much. Nothing else I can think of off the top of my head.

We are getting everything we need from holistics.

Pros

It has an embedded dashboards feature which is saving technical team from hundreds of hours of development effort to visualize data. The maximum return time I experienced from the support team is around 2 hours. And the documentation is really detailed.

Cons

It is great but can have a little bit more options for data caching policies in general. It is currently only limited to individual reports.

I love the product. Reports are simple to create. The Metrics over time are a great feature and reduces need for complex date joins. I use scheduled report emails for alerting. Slack integration. The support is phenomenal-- one of the best support teams I have encountered in dealing with countless software platforms.

Cons

Potentially could get pricey for large orgs who might require over 6000 reports?

Pros

Holistics makes it easy for data team to create and manage different dashboards and reports, with query templates to make it easier to maintain the SQL query codes across different reports. Having an ETL option makes it a big plus to have a full-stack solution. One constant surprise that Holistics always give is that the features developed by the team is always on-point, and what we really wanted. The support team is responsive even on weekends. Keep up the good work! Most BI tools have the end-users in mind and often is a nightmare for the data team to create and manage the different dashboards and reports. The UI of the dashboard is not as good as the other BI tools. While the metrics dashboard is a good ideal, not allowing query templates to work in metrics dashboard makes it not possible to use it as our daily dashboard.

Pros

Ease of use, has been instrumental in my understanding of our business (worked less than 5 months in it). Without this easy to use tool that is very user friendly i would still be grasping at straws.

Sometimes slow in updating, but this is most likely related to the backoffice (ours) that it extracts data from
