We're a small business of 3 full-time staff and a handful of part-time or seasonal folks. We were using Square to schedule staff and track hours, but the main issue was lack of integration with Google Calendar. As we explored alternatives, Connecteams stood out because of the small business level pricing (zero!) and so many helpful features. The video guides make it easy to train staff how to use it and customer support has been responsive to questions. Overall, it's been a great experience!

Pros

We started using Connecteam as a way to schedule staff and track hours because it easily integrates with Google Calendar. I love the additional features like shift tasks and team chats. Overall, a great experience and exactly what we needed!

Cons

I truly don't haven't any issues with Connecteam, it fits our needs with any bugs or issues and ach user has an easy time accessing what's important.

Overall I am happy with it. We had tried slack but didn't find it as useful. We had trouble getting the team to utilize it properly. I'm not sure exactly why we've done better the Connecteam but everyone checks it and utilizes it properly. I can message on it and I know my team received the message.

Pros

I like having a dedicated app for communicating with my team. It helps with communication accountability and not clogging up people's personal messages with work related messages. I also like that I can have it up on my desktop while I'm at work and I don't have to look at my phone for it. I also love that I can schedule messages and create dedicated channels for different groupings of people

Cons

The notifications on my phone are a little funky. Whether I have 1 message or 50 the little number by the application icon on my iphone always says 1. It's nice to see an accurate tally of how many messages I need to catch up on.

It was quite easy to learn how to use and the features included have worked well for our team so far.

Pros

The access of having to connect with all of my co-workers without having to consistently add their contacts to my phone especially as we are adding new members to our team. The group feature between the event team and the program team is also very nice and I like how I can share documents into the group.

Cons

The only issues I have had is there are some glitches using the time tracking feature on the desktop verison.

Pros

That we are able to make multiple groups chats for different departments. It icludes time tracking, scheduling, task management, and internal communication tools. The app simplifies daily operations, especially for field teams, with features like GPS tracking and customizable forms.

Cons

That there is not a specfic place to just upload the schedule. The scheduling module lacks flexibility, such as monthly views for non-admins and visibility across teams.

I recommend connecteams to every business owner I talk to. I am part of a national childcare academy and every call we have I suggest Connecteams.

Pros

I love how multifaceted the program is. It makes managing our growing team much easier. We always struggled with scheduling and now having multiple locations scheduling is all in one place and staff are able to help with coverage is they have to be out. We use the chat functions constantly and our onboarding is all in a course. Also, as child care providers the amount of trainings and licensing requirements we have is substantial so using the documents function is amazing to track expiration dates etc. we use almost all of connecteams functions!

Cons

I think the things included in different tiers and in different categories doesn’t really make sense for what costs more to add to subscription and what doesn’t.

My team loves the fact that they can see their schedules weeks in advance and that the locations can be added to the schedule as well. We don't use it for much else because we use another company app for communication.

Pros

It has made it much easier to manage 3 travelling teams and our office. Everyone is able to see the schedules at the same time.

Cons

the pricing menu. It would be nice to customize exactly what we'll use and pay for that without having every feature of the platform.

Really changed the way we communicate with staff and staff communicate with us. The chat function alone is so much more efficient and effective than playing email tag that its actually insane. We are communicating much more reliably and quickly, now. Younger and older employees alike have onboarded without issue.

Pros

Really awesome program. Completely revolutionized communication and morale at work. If your business is running employee communications through email this is a significant and intuitive solution to centralizing staff communication as well as separating it from outside communication.

Cons

The all or nothing sales pitch approach left us feeling a little awkward. The basic-advanced options are really great for smaller businesses. The features it continues to show, but leaves behind the "upgrade now" paywall are a little annoying, but its a quirk we quickly got used to.

It’s been a great experience, I came in with high expectations and I haven’t been let down yet. It’s even better than expected.

Pros

The software is seamless, customer service is amazing. The team goes out of their way to make sure we’re set up for success!

Cons

It doesn’t have its own payroll, so we have to integrate with another payroll software. It would be off the charts if it was an all in one.

We are truly enjoying the program. Our team is very happy with the ease of use and love having an app that they can quickly use to make requests or changes as they come up.

Pros

our team is able to communicate with us and eachother so much more effectively than before. We love the time tracking and the ease of scheduling. We have utilized the events section for team parties and get togethers and it is wonderful!

Cons

it took a little bit of finagling to get our version on Quickbooks to integrate the way we needed but now we have a handle on it and it is functioning as needed

While there are small areas for improvement, like more detailed reporting, the app has made a noticeable difference in how smoothly my team operates. I’d definitely recommend it to other managers looking for a reliable, all-in-one platform.

Pros

What I like most about Connecteam is how easy it makes managing my team. I use it to clock in and oversee a group of reading coaches, and the app keeps everything organized in one place. I especially appreciate the ability to track hours, communicate quickly, and assign tasks without needing multiple platforms. It saves me time, reduces confusion, and keeps my team on the same page. It truly helps me stay on top of everything without added stress.

Cons

While Connecteam streamlines so much of my day-to-day, the one area I find a bit lacking is the depth of its reporting and analytics. As someone who oversees multiple reading coaches, I’d love more customizable dashboards—especially around time-tracking trends and task completion—so I can pull richer insights without exporting data elsewhere. Additionally, on occasion the mobile notifications can feel a bit overwhelming; having more granular control over which alerts come through would help me—and my team—stay focused on what matters most. Pros

Lots of functionality. I particularly like the forms which we use frequently and the courses are really useful too.

Cons

The scheduling aspect is not efficient when you have a constantly changing schedule. It makes it very hard to forward plan, we are constantly deleting and updating templates so it all takes more time than it should. The holiday hours are something that as a company we cannot use because we have varied staff hours and the Connecteam system does not work for that so we calculate this outside of the app. The customer service is also something that needs improving, the staff are perfectly nice and capable but being limited to messages has caused issues.

Conglomeration of many different resources and opportunities within one platform, which aides in eliminating employee confusion and overall hassle.

Cons

Some of the navigating for the platform could be more streamlined and efficient, including viewing previous maps within timesheets, viewing clock ins for users, etc.

Overall, my experience with connecteam has been positive, despite my minor complaints. It serves its purpose well, and had not yet failed me completely at a crucial moment.

Pros

Connecteam allows me to easily access all the tools I need for my job. I especially like the knowledge base and the timeclock features. I find it very useful to be able to modify my hours after clocking out, and to see my weekly summaries.

Cons

Connecteam on mobile tends to be exceedingly slow. Viewing my schedule takes ages to load, every time. I am also not a fan of the available preview mode of the knowledge base on a computer - it is tiny, and not very convenient.

The overall process has been very easy and and easy to follow, from time cards to instant messages. very happy.

Pros

clocking in and out on your smartphone. This allows easier access to employees and gives them access to clock in and out outside of the geo network.

Cons

functions only available on the desktop and not remotely on the app. This makes it more time consuming when traveling.

Their support is very helpful and quick to respond I also love that they record and send you videos to help.

Pros

Many diffrent configurations and templates. Just tons of them. It is easy to communicate and send files to the staff in the field.

Cons

We wish there were more options to almost make like a spreadsheet that someone could look at but not edit and admins could edit on the fly. easy updatable from the app spreadsheets. (Almost like Air table offers) we also would like to sort of recycle templates, we send employees these Tools Box Saftey talks they have to read and sign, I would like to be able to send the same talk, at the same time next year without intervention.

Pros

I love having the ability to have everything for our business in one place. The calendar, forms, onboarding and time clock with geo location.

Cons

I would love to be able to make it mandatory for my team to fill out specific forms for their shifts. Like they can’t clock out until the task is complete. (There may be a way to do that already, but if not that would be awesome)

So far, it has been super easy to learn, like I said everything at your fingertips, instruction videos are very helpful. I do love the program.

Pros

I have enjoyed the ease of use and being able to have everything available at your fingertips. We have been able to connect our team much easier, we have several companies under a Parent Company, and we had 3 separate apps dedicated to each company, this has allowed us to move all our employees into one app and separate them by departments for easy access to each company teams. Love that!

Cons

The only thing I do not like or agree on, it's the nickel and dime for services structure, I mean, I get pay for what you need and not what you do not need, but seems that upgrading the levels may give you one thing that you need or would like, but 10 more that are irrelevant. If pay for what you need is what you want to offer, then price each individual perk at a cost, without having to upgrade to a different level at higher monthly amount. This is the only reason for the 4 start, otherwise the services are wonderful and I would definitely recommend to everyone.

We recommend it to other organizations and nonprofits. Any issue we have had has been resolved in a timely manner. It allows us to set boundaries with our students that have limited social awareness (not messaging or calling instructors cell phones). We can easily communicate with parents, and employees.

Pros

We love that we can utilize this for our students and volunteers as well as instructors. We do job training for students with disabilities and we use this for everything from learning to clock in and out to providing instructional courses. We spent many weeks looking at volunteer software and employee management and this marks all the boxes. We are able to tag people as teachers students or volunteers and then create scheduled or open opportunities for them to claim. We are able to easily export data to or payroll system for students that do fall under this category.

Cons

I wish there was a way to add a shift without having to have it attached to a phone number. For example, I have students coming form local high schools that don't need their own connecteam account, but I still want to mark in the scheduling that there will be someone there.

Pros

The ease of use because of their training videos. Their videos are adaptable to so many different sizes of companies too. I've used connect team for three years and each year there is another employee feature I'm about to utilize as my team grows. I love that there are enough tools to use as needed and aadd when necessary.

Cons

There upgrade plans are a bit confusing and not totally suited for business for under 30 employees, but they worked to get back to the free plan which still had the features I need.

My overall experience with connect team is that it just works. I have yet to find any limitation of the software or the apps. If you are looking for a software that helps you communicate with your team quickly and track tasks, this is it. Hands down.

Pros

This is exactly the solution I was looking for. It helps our team connect instantly without text message groups or emails. We are able to post tasks, track time, and chat with ease.

Cons

I have yet to find anything I didn’t love about this system. We have used it for various tasks and communication and it just works.

Overall, I've had a positive experience with switching from When to Work to Connecteam. The communication aspects are superior and now that I've got a handle on how to use the program, scheduling has become more efficient.

Pros

I appreciate the messaging aspect of the app, which allows us to efficiently communicate with all staff, or specific staff, easily. I also like that staff unavailability is displayed for easy scheduling.

Cons

It is slow to load the sign-in page. There was initially a steep learning curve, but we seem to have worked out all the various kinks. I do wish we could choose specific types of shifts when printing the schedule, instead of printing all shifts that are published, for example it would be nice to just print reception and kennel shifts instead of the entire staff.
