Owner/Attorney Law Practice Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Best Mailparser for small businesses" May 13, 2019 5.0 I am a bankruptcy attorney. Once a case is filed for a client the court sends out multiple emails with all kinds of useful information about when the client's meeting with the trustee is, when their court filing fee payments are due, whether their debts have been discharged, etc. etc. Because of the way that the court deals exclusively in pre-formatted emails, bankruptcy is extremely susceptible to automation but the first hurdle is parsing the info out of the emails into google sheets. That's what I use Mailparser.io for. Once I have parsed the info into Google Sheets, then I am able to have zapier send out custom, preformatted automatic emails to each client (pulling the data from google sheets) telling them when their meeting is with the trustee, when their court filing fee payments are due, etc. I never have to do anything after filing the case. The rest is on autopilot. The possibilities for automatic emails are endless once you have set up your email list in google sheets with a v-lookup so that you can match your parsed email data with an individual lead, client, etc. instead of the automatic email wanting to just send back to the email address where the form email came from. It took me a while to figure out what I needed but I found JR Spikeston on Upwork.com and he has done the work in my google sheets to make Mailparser.io's promise of truly automated emails a reality. Pros 1\. It integrates with Zapier making a lot of things possible. 2. the integration process is extremely easy and the mail forwarding process is easy. The software walks you through the process. 3. the mail parsing itself is intuitive once you get the concept of writing parsing rules. It doesn't require scripting/coding and so any old layperson can figure out how to isolate the information they want out of email.s Cons The thing that was hardest for me was just learning how to create the parsing rules effectively. The interface is powerful and a joy to use once you grasp what is happening as you move down through the parsing process, but I think that mailparser.io may have stopped short of what they need to do tutorial-wise to really open the floodgates to masses of users instead of having people get excited about it and then kind of go away scratching their heads and miss out on a powerful solution that is in fact easy to use once you figure it out. It only takes an hour to figure out, but that process could be more guided and have more tutorial videos I work on automation stuff quite a bit but I am a regular guy running my bankruptcy law firm without any IT background. I understood that I could call or chat with customer service but what I think would have helped me the most is just lots of walk through videos of various parsing scenarios. I would gladly sit and explore tutorial videos on "how to extract two names separately that are joined by an "and"" , "how to parse something that spans two lines of text" etc. etc. I have no idea what they have available now and I feel like I have caught the concept of the parsing (although I still wonder if I am missing some tips and tricks). I just think that for a lot of people like me, well done, detailed video walkthrough's of about 30 parsing situations would just help people come on board and get off and running more quickly. The assortment of filters makes it possible to isolate almost any string inside an email. I've found the application to be very reliable. I also appreciated that a support individual spent time with me via screen sharing so that I could observe creating a rule, and then connecting the resulting data to Zaper, which ultimately was sent to Salesforce. Cons Steep (but narrow) learning curve. I think more can be done to simplify and simultaneously improve the process in which a Parsing Rule can be created. However, once I understood the methodology, it made sense and was relatively easy. I also think a native Salesforce integration would be a smart addition. Pros It's so easy to get started and handle e-mails in the same format again and again. Cons In my opinion, the pricing does not reflect the value provided. It seems to capitalize on the limitations of those without coding skills, as extracting the required data from a mailbox is often achievable with a straightforward regex command. For comparison, Mail Parser by Zapier includes this functionality as a task, which typically costs around 2–3 cents per task, rather than the 10–5 cents charged here what on bulk can be 3x the costs when handling only a few hundred datasets per month. In particular, it has a tendency to also pick up signature images, which are not intended to be included as attachments. While it doesn’t stop me from using the platform, it does slow down the process and adds a small frustration. We once had a BIG issue with SPAM and they got us covered... A very trustworthy team. And at least for the moment they haven't made "huge" improvements to the fees (some providers one day double or even triple the fee and it's "take it or leave it"), not the case with Mailparser. Pros Reliable parsing service, super solid with almost minimal issues or downtimes for more that 5 years using it... Once you set it up, it works as a charm. It has a lot of features and it's very flexible so fore most part of the user you won't need more "tricks" to manage emails that need to be parsed. Cons UI hasn't evolved a lot, and seems a little dated... It works fine, but it definitely needs to be sent to 2025. Pros I've sought far and wide for a program to parse the body text of my booking emails to auto-generate contacts/ contact data. I have Power Automate, but it is nowhere near as user-friendly as mailparser. I was able to fully customize and auto-export the specific info I needed in less than an hour (this includes set-up, briefing and overview of the system, connecting multiple apps, parsing and revising 20+ data keys, and then editing a bit more to narrow down text fields to my liking) After the first integration, the rest were a breeze! In fact, mailparser actually made automate easier for me to use! I am definitely considering an upgrade to a paid subscription (but would like to see more integrations with Google Apps for max ROI). They are pure pleasure. Pros It Just Works! When integrating multiple 3rd party tools, software, SAAS programs, and systems so they can all talk, you will ultimately run into hurdles. However, MailParser has never once failed to deliver. Once it was set up properly I have run MailParser for years without a single issue. One time I had to reach out to support because it had been over 3 years since I spoke to them or created a new needed integration, they answered quickly and showed me what I forgot. Never a single issue, always a pleasure, fast to reply, super friendly and the costs is minimal in comparison to other products, and you have the brand name king of the sphere when choosing MailParser! Cons Some of the parsing fields can be confusing for the setup. However, customer service will share loom videos and walk you right through them, if I can see it once, I can replicate it without issue, and that was helpful. When paired with a service like Zapier it facilitates all kinds of interesting automation. Cons While overall it is easy-to-use, it can be a bit complicated to noodle through the best logic to apply to get the final result you desire. Highly recommended. Pros Cloud computing is as complicated as the old server room. But the integration technologies are not. If you can write a formula in Excel, you can 'develop' business process workflows. We bypass EDI (granted, inbounds) by using Mailparser to well, parse emails into records that can be sent into our NetSuite account. We process a few thousand a month. Best part - I've now got a rock solid audit trail too. Cons Honestly, it's too easy to start using, so I didn't pick up some parser concepts the first time thru. But that's not really a con:) To date, we haven't needed to do anything that mailparser could not do. We've even pinged their support team, who are great and super responsive. (and they are good teachers!)
