Pros I can create a quote for a client in minutes with good details and add a deadline to it if I need to. I can convert the quote to an invoice if the client approves the quote. It is easy to see what invoices are open and easy to update payments for open invoices. Cons Changes to invoice permenant wording can be a pain because the access to this section is not obvious. Since it is something you only change once in a great while that means you have to keep great notes on how to do it or contact support every time. Pros It has so many financial and bookkeeping features inside that I still haven't used half of it in my two years of using them. I've been a member since the beginning when it was called Billy. Cons Not many cons but if you're not a CPA or similar professional , you probably won't use the majority of features included in the free account. Pros The interface is beautiful and laid out in a minimalist fashion. The functions of accounting and bookkeeping are well laid out and easy to follow. It's built for small business and yet they chose double-entry bookkeeping system - that's definitely a plus in my mind. Cons A deal killer for me was problem integrating with credit cards and banks to download transactions. These integrations worked for some banks, but not the others. Pros I've used several invoicing platforms and so far, Sunrise is the easiest. It's organized well, with the expense reports and other things I don't need to see frequently pushed to the side. The main thing is to see an overview and then see my invoices. It delivers this flawlessly. The overview shows an immediate comparison of the current year with your last year, and shows a pie chart for which clients have paid the most. It's always encouraging to see this clear info. Cons I would like it to integrate with TurboTax more easily. I often consider using Quickbooks invoicing just for this purpose. I'd also like a receipt snapshot feature like Quickbooks Self-Employed has, where I can just take a picture of a receipt and immediately import it into my expenses. Cons It would be nice to have an app. I think there use to be one that let you take photos of receipts but I haven’t been able to use it. We use this software for a retail store selling appliances, so lower volume of transactions a day makes it super easy and to track customer purchases. Pros Simple to use and easy to get started. They are continually making improvements to their software. (I’m excited to use the app!) Pros I like the ease and ability to keep my business finances in order. Accounting is a serious thing, and Billy is used by many companies. Pros Ok, I got this software to help our company with our accounting. We have clients in multiple countries and with different currencies, so Billy is super easy to use and if you need the support is fast. Billy is also a double entry software, which means its fully compliant with the rules of accountant. I know, accounting is boring, but at least with Billy can be easy. Cons One thing that bothers me is the lack of recurrent charges. They do have recurrent invoices capabilities, but the recurrent charges would be an awesome add-on. I have to use Firefox because the Brave browser immediately logs me out saying logged out due to inactivity. I plan on digging deeper into what the program can do for me other than invoicing. They have the ability to capture receipts and sync to my bank which is a HUGE plus. The ability to create recurring invoices is an added bonus for me as a solopreneur. Any aspect of time savings multiplied throughout my week and month is a great bonus. Cons The only downside for the software, for me, right now is their inability to auto=charge ACH drafts for recurring invoices. This would be a lifesaver for me for my retainer clients. Yes, they can pay via ACH, but for whatever reason none of my retainer clients have started paying that way. Any way we can make it easier for our Cilents to pay the better, and ACH would drastically reduce credit card fees. Review Source TB Tim B. We have been using Billy for our book keeping since we started it in mid 2015. It is everything we need, and for being free you absolutely cannot beat it. Pros Simple interface, exceptional customer service (considering it is free), and I can access it from any device I want. Cons Not much to dislike so far. Our customers have given us great feedback, especially being able to pay online through the invoices we send. Our money processes in a reasonable time as well. Overall, the presentation is outstanding. Very clean and easy on the eyes, not to mention easy to use as well. Can’t say enough good things. Also, we had one slight hiccup, only once, where we couldn’t get an invoice to send through email. Customer service/tech handled this quickly and we have had no issues since! November 17, 2018 4.0 Billy takes care of an important part of my companies financiel overviews. This is great. Having said that, we are keeping are eyes open to a possible alternative, for reasons mentioned above. Pros The cheer amount of functionality is what I like most of Billy software. And even though they have been critiseded a lot, they kept going and improving the software. That must not have been easy. Yet, they persisted and kept development going. Cons Last September Billy mailed that they were looking for funding to the next set of major features. That I did not see coming and made me worrry. One could argue that by now Billy should make enough to selfsustain and develop furter. Mixed emotions.
