We have been a user for over 12 years now and although there are other options available to us, Account Ability is the most affordable and easiest option for us. Pros Account Ability is fairly easy to use. They are always up to date with the current tax forms and laws so I know that I am submitting my forms correctly. It makes filing electronically a snap and reduces the amount of stress I have during tax time. Cons Sometimes uploading files can be confusing, but as long as you follow the instructions, things go fairly smoothly. Assistant Controller Higher Education Used the software for: 2+ years ### "End result is acceptable" May 28, 2024 2.0 I appreciate it producing an acceptable end result and producing a fire.gov type file for easy upload. It does not produce an acceptable Oregon e-file file type. That is worth quite a bit. I do not like that I need to download an entire new program every year and set up a new client - this should be one program that maintains all filing years that I have purchased. The ease of use of this product leaves a lot to be desired. Pros The end result helps us meet the filing requirements Cons 1\. You have to make an entire new client to produce a corrected 1099 statement 2. Every year is a new program - I would like it to be a single program that hosts all of the years. 3. Update it to look more modern - this survey looks better than Account Ability. 4. Create/offer as an upgrade acceptable state e-file type files Review Source DA Denise A. The techs are very friendly and knowledgeable and make my submission to State and Government easy. Pros Provide Fast and friendly Service! The techs take control of the of our data and send it to the governmental agencies with ease. Cons We never have any complaints with anything. Everything was great. Manager Payroll Services Higher Education Used the software for: 2+ years ### "W2 and 1099 Tax Form Preparation" February 28, 2025 5.0 We have used Account Ability for over 20 years with multiple ERP platforms. They have always worked with us and we have really been able to make our year end tax form preparation much more efficient. Pros We like the superior and responsive technical support. We love the product and its flexibility importing and exporting data. For W2's and 1099's we also use the Print and Mail feature which is fast, secure and convenient. Cons Our W2 file is very large. We have not figured out a way either internally or with Account Ability to allow for multiple users to work in the W2 file simultaneously without bogging down the process. Pros 1) Works on your own computer instead of internet-based 2) Excellent function 3) Excellent support; they know what they're doing 4) Manual is absolutely complete, step by step 5) Have used for many years; IT'S THE BEST EVER 6) Can roll last year's issuers/recipients forward to new year effortlessly so that only numbers for the new year need to be entered 7) Can easily print any copies needed, both for current year and for prior years, if required 8) Can easily correct returns 9) Can easily submit returns to IRS FIRE SYSTEM via this software; excellent and (very unusual) COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS. Also, the staff is very helpful. they are very knowledgeable about the software. I have never had any problems. very friendly. Pros I like that Accountability is effective and efficient in workflow. I have been using the software for years now and at first, I didn't understand how to use it because I was using a different software that didn't offer as nearly all of the functions as AA but now, I am happy that the corporation has switched. Cons Pricy but I figured with all specs/functions of AA we would not have. It's good to have all functions in one place. Pros I love that they keep up with all of the new updates so that I don't have to worry about it! Cons The only thing I would add back is the bulk email ability, we miss that. Accounting Manager Real Estate Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Gets the job done, but not user friendly" June 7, 2022 4.0 The customer service was helpful and patient as we work through our issues and incomprehension of all the steps necessary to get the forms uploaded and sent out. WIthout them, I am quite certain we would never have gotten through the process, certainly not correctly. Pros This software achieves what it is supposed to do. Creates our 1098 and 1099 after importing from our Accounting system. Cons The software is not user friendly, nor easy to "figure out". There are a lot of screens and modules and no real help on where or how to complete. Even the mapping, which one you know what you are doing should be easy, is not really easy. It is easy to mess the mapping up and have to start over. It is just clunky and out dated as far as software goes for ease of use. Reason for choosing Account Ability It was in place when I joined the company. Pros Its easy to use and the technical staff are amazing. So helpful Cons I disliked the end of year transferring. Thats why I pay them to transfer files to the IRS for me. They are super great about it. Reason for choosing Account Ability I dont remember. We needed a product to do the 1099 and this was recommended to us.
