I do my own books, BAS and Payroll saving thousands of dollars a year on accounting and book keeping fees. Pros Reckon one is simple so it's easy enough to learn even if you don't have an accounting or book keeping back ground. It does what is needed and it is cost effective. Cons Some features still require further development but for the most part these features don't stop you from doing the important tasks. Reliable and I've been using it for years now. Very happy with it. I wouldn't mind some more search functionality, and maybe a cheaper tier that only creates, sends and stores invoices as that's all I really need. Pros I use it almost exclusively for invoicing and it's great at that. The price is pretty good too. I also use the financial reports to check my income over quarterly periods. Cons I would love to be able to search invoices by customer, the lack of this function is pretty annoying. Pros It is a simple and cost effective book keeping and reporting software. It's great to access from anywhere and requires minimal prior knowledge to use. Cons It can be a bit clunky at times and issues with ATO reporting time out a fair bit. Bank feeds can be delayed and linking transactions to payroll on Reckon fast coding doesn't seem to work very well. Same for BAS payments linking them to their respective accounts. Pros The value for money is good. I like the app as well to be able to check invoices on the go. I like that it will automatically send reminders to unpaid invoices. Having payroll and super all connected makes it easy and quick. Cons Sometimes I find it hard to find the invoice I want and wish there was an easy search function to do this where i could search for any bill or invoice from any screen. Consultant Hospitality Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy to learn while you earn" June 22, 2026 4.0 Have been with Reckon One since 2017 and which allowed me to learn and run my profitable business with 6-8 employees. I believe it has all the functions most small businesses would need while saving a few dollars per month towards their business. Pros Has always been easy enough to navigate through most features of Reckon One and learning any tricky sections by using the help tools available. Cons Some features are still a bit restricted and complicated with both creating an invoice, but mostly attaching an invoice or receipt to a transaction "before" reconciling. Other programs allow you to simply drag and drop an invoice/receipt to a transaction, making it a lot faster to reconcile transactions rather than having to go back to attach the proof of purchase. Director Health, Wellness and Fitness Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Reckon One is perfect for my small business" February 23, 2024 5.0 When MYOB dropped MAC support I tried the alternatives like quick books and Zero but they were not as user friendly or as well supported as Reckon and now I pay a fraction of what MYOB was costing. Reckon One has a very simple yet very functional user interface with full access to one’s accountant and automated bank feeds. Pros Easy set-up and operation. I run on MAC and transferred from MYOB with minimal fuss at the end of a financial year. The support network is amazing and very quick. I use it for my business and also for my personal super fund. Cons The only thing I miss is the ability to have a repeated transaction but Reckon has two alternatives that are almost the same, based on rule matching and regular transactions. November 3, 2022 5.0 When you have torn out all your hair and finally phone the help desk......you will find a helpful knowledgeable person on the phone.. Pros There is a learning curve.... BUT... once you have done that learning... there are heaps of daily benefits. We make about 60 products and we sell to a relatively small market 0.1 % of population. The software allows us to quickly add clients and do their specific invoicing.The "Lists" mean that our most common items "lurk in the background" and just 2 or 3 keystrokes fill in the invoice line.We sell overseas as well.. Export.. and we run 2 versions of our products.. The Export ones just have an "X" in the part description... IE local "Rainbow"... Export "XRainbow"The system sees these as 2 different products and stores them differently including their GST pre-set !!!The invoices are emailed out and the invoice contains our banking Direct Credit informationClients can be active or inactive... we tend to keep the one-offs inactive HOWEVERThere is a very good search function where you can select amongst "active", "All", "Outstanding bal"and it will find "part of an address", "Just a first name", "name of their dog", heheFast and Easy... Cons We use Reckon Online....Generally ok BUT.... it logs you out while you are with a client... especially near the end of the day.In some cases it is difficult to get back online.... but that is part of the learning curve..The search function is fabulous BUT you have to click the mouse... argh.. yes you cam press but nothing happens till you click the mouse. This means as one job opens, you can begin evaluating the performance of these without having to close another job. Cons The payroll system had problems dealing with over 100 staff and thus we use an external system. This is unable to be uploaded automatically into Reckon.
