It's got the balance right between being easy to use but having the features needed. Supports multiple file formats and integrates with simPRO AND it's cloud-based.. can't go wrong for the price. Cons There isn't a mobile app, not that it would really be practical to look at plans on a small screen, so you really need to be using an iPad or a Surface Pro or something if you're away from you PC. August 3, 2023 5.0 Took a few months to learn it properly and set up templates but now I love it. I've recommended the program to a lot of people and I always suggest getting some one on one training and setting up templates and think about how you would most use it prior to the training. I did this and the trainer actually suggest more options that I now use almost every day. Pros How easy it is to mark up, notes and make changes to send to field staff or engineers for advice/approval. Cons The only thing tht may be missing is to be able to copy and section of a plan and paste it either on the same plan or on a new page etc to be able to mark up or do a blown-up section with mark ups or detail notes etc. But knowing Groundplan this feature may exist and I just don't know about it. Reason for choosing Groundplan I didn't really get into any other products, I was hooked on groundplan pretty quickly. They are always happy to jump on the phone or Zoom with you to solve issues and get you running at 100% again. Pros Groundplan is very easy to use. The team, especially Caz is exceptionally helpful and they are great at helping you achieve a result if you can show them what you are trying to achieve. The integration with Simpro is exceptional once you understand how it works, this can be a little overwhelming if you are new to Simpro and Groundplan. Cons The icon sizing is not particularly easy to get right and takes a few clicks to change. This is only an issue when designing plans for presentation but does not affect take-offs. I feel i have picked up the program reasonably quickly but in time will be a lot more efficient. Pros The ease of marking up plans and calculating material quantities. The support has been next level. I have had several chats and training sessions with the girls. They have help with rapid response and you can actually talk to them. Without them it would have been difficult. They have also showed me where the advanced training videos are too. Cons Setting up the first project, but once it's done you can use it on other project's which is where the time is saved. Pros Being able to import a PDF plan scale it and overlay the pipe plan with ease. Game changer for estimating sprinkler and fire protection work. I even use it for quoting service work and deficiencies where there are no drawings - it is better than any spreadsheet I have used for adding costs, mark-ups, labor, etc. Pros Makes estimating of any kind faster and reduces the chance of errors in calculations. Phenomenal live chat for support with anything. Cons I don't have anything. I only have a couple suggestions such as being able to save the overlay as a new plan after using the compare feature and perhaps showing totals from each stage and grand total when exporting (could be possible and I just haven't figured it out yet). For saving compared plans, a handy workaround for now is using a screenshot tool to capture an image. Just keep in mind that your screen resolution affects the image quality.
