PDS made it easy to do it without any special knowledge and with little time. It just works out of the box! Pros I first went through the boot camp of setting up software built into my display. When I finished I realized it didn't have the features I needed. Play Digital Signage is on the other side of the spectrum. It's super intuitive and has all features such an application should have, at least for a user like me. This platform is exactly what our company has been looking for. The ability to create content using the visual editor is extremely powerful and allows for a user friendly experience that prevents you from having to create content elsewhere. Along with the player management functions that allow you to see which players are online at a glance, and easily add players with a simply 6-digit code is a breath of fresh air coming from alternative platforms. On the topic of players, this platform can be installed on nearly every OS under the sun! The pricing model is also unique and very competitive. I've only had positive experiences when requiring support and the team is always quick to respond. Pros \- User friendly interface - Great pricing model - Feature packed - Player and user management features - Visual editor that's extremely powerful Cons None at this time. We've converted most of our clients to PlaySignage from Brightsign, but it would be great to be able to install PlaySignage on a Brightsign player to prevent having to purchase a new player for these clients. Pros Overall pleased; editing in the playlist is where it's all done. Cons Initial support to learn the basics of getting started was hard to get. Didn't want to go through YouTube videos and read support manuals. Just needed in person basic instructions to get started. Trying to bring in outside content is difficult. It is a great option and the fact the app can be downloaded on most smart TVs. It allows us to avoid installing any external hardware. Just downloaded the app, activate the screen, and assign a playlist. Super simple and user friendly. Pros The software is easy to use and upload. Being cloud based allows me to update all screens all over campus without having to be in one specific location. Cons Sometimes the app with have issues updating and publishing .MP4 files. This software has given us the ability of looping Youtube videos, flyers, and other content seamlessly. For us that means better exposure, more engagement, and higher levels of entertainment for our guests. Pros It's the most intuitive and user-friendly software we've used! The editing capabilities and plugins make it easy for us to display various forms of content on our screens. In the past, we've been limited on what we could show which was a poor customer experience for our guests. This software gives us the versatility that we need to really enhance our guest experience. Cons The asset directory can get crowded and clunky if we don't keep on top of organizing the files. It'd be helpful to have an expiration date like there is for slides. The presets are great, however there are times that seeing different ideas help determine the direction of that week's materials. I'd recommend you download the video and then upload it to the library so that the media player can run playback from local storage. Then you're in charge. I was not trained and pretty much learned as I went along. I usually like actually talking with a support rep, but the chat feature this company uses is effective and they are timely in their responses. Pros It is rock-solid in terms of access through the cloud. The interface is very intuitive and when we change a playlist and republish, it is an instantaneous change. Cons Understanding that screens can be part of a group or groups and then setting a schedule for that group gives a ton of flexibility, but it's confusing at first. We only have 5 screens and with one exception at one time of the year, they are always playing the same playlist at pretty much the same time, so it took me a while to understand/appreciate the set up.
