I have used firewalls and network devices in the past that had horrible web interfaces (or none at all), or didn't offer everything that seemed to be necessary in network and internet filtering and tracking. The Firebox is--for lack of a better word--very enjoyable to use. Pros Our WatchGuard Firebox has been up and running for years. It has an extremely user-friendly web-based interface, and has plenty of optional "addons" that can be purchased to give you as much or as little control and safety over your network and internet usage as you need. Cons Some steps (like for example, opening up a port to the outside world to go to a specific device on your network) can sometimes feel overly complicated. Maybe it's all necessary, but sometimes there are a LOT of steps that have to be done just to accomplish what seems like a simple goal or task. Watchguard support is very good and documentation is easy to access and robust. Pros Robust security features and intuitive management. Provides great perimeter security and is designed for small and medium business. Flexible deployment with either on-premise or cloud infrastructures such as Azure and AWS. Cons Initial HA Cluster deployment can be a hassle. Migration for managing locally to managing in WatchGuard Cloud is time consuming. April 9, 2025 5.0 Overall I can definitely recommend Watchguard products as they have worked well with little to no issues. Performance is fast and efficient, and support is helpful. Pros Watchguard has consistently added and improved features over the life of the product. It takes some time to get familiar with the interface but it's easy to use and customize to suit your needs. Security thus far has been top notch with no issues. Support is great if needed. Very professional and helpful Cons There is little that I can fault Watchguard on their products. From time to time there may be issues but they seem to resolve themself automatically. We always received good support for the few issues we had and always received what I felt were excellent value upgrade and tradeup prices Pros For us it offers many enterprise level features at at SME price. The reliability of he hardware is oustanding - we had one hardware issue in 10 years and it was swapped overnight. Cons The UI isn't sparkling but it does the job. The biggest shortcoming we had was lack of easy integration with Azure AD accounts using non Domain joined devices. They are every stable and tech support have assisted me on various tasks. Pros The firewalls very flexible, easy to configure and can work in every scenario. Cluster setups are every stable. Cons nothing really. Pros What I like most of the Watchguard Firebox is the GUI it is very user friendly. Cons The only con I have ran into is the user VPN setup. Pros The appliance is very powerful and has many granular options when remoting into the instance itself. The cloud interface is also nice to have.
