December 18, 2020 5.0 After our team built-out/finalized the initial campaign that was launched in hours, we received 3,000+ entries from this photo contest. We continued to use Shortstack throughout 2020 -- including a custom campaign (the Shortstack team was great to work with) -- and realized fantastic results each time. I can't to see what's on the horizon as we further develop and engage our online communities! Pros With access to an in-house graphic designer and an average understanding of software/applications, I was able to launch what was ultimately a VERY successful photo contest within hours. Cons Out of the box and with a below average understanding of software/applications, users can get lost. But, they do offer live chat support that's great! It was fun to play around with and easy to make. Pros ShortStack is very each to use, even for a first-timer. Most of the software is intuitive and also easy to navigate. Cons Some of the functionality can seem overwhelming during your first try. It also doesn't seem very intuitive on where to download your collected emails. While it isn't perfect it gets the job done for what I need it for. Pros They offer a variety of different giveaway templates. There are settings that enable you to hide certain sections based on the date. You can export your entries. You can email confirmations to your entrants. There is a social share ability that gives bonus entries when someone enters off your share link. Cons Not the easiest to set up the templates. Would be nice to be able to save custom templates and template sections for easier customization. The dashboard has never loaded for me - spins and spins. Within the Campaign Builder, select the name of the campaign in the upper left corner. In the drop down menu there will be an option to save the campaign as a template. Sr. Interactive Producer Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Great Solution to Online Contests" December 7, 2020 5.0 Contests for clients, great tool Pros I loved this product; it worked perfectly for contest solutions across many of our clients, and ended up very useful for my entire team to get inspired with new opportunities in campaign types. Customer service was also SO helpful and quick to get answers to us as we set things up. Cons I did have a little trouble getting the form embedded to our LP initially, which development was able to fix, but I wish the code to embed auto-sized the form to fit the entire form on mobile automatically, as development had to custom code this in. It was cutting off the submit button once someone uploaded images to their entry. Otherwise, it was great. It is easy to use once you set up your first campaign and become more familiar with the software. Transferring the email list to our email service was a breeze. Cons I found it difficult to set up the background and header exactly the way I wanted it. I wish there were more templates included with the basic package. Pros It is convenient and was manageable to set up a contest with their templates, user friendly. Cons The limited pause of 90 days when it use to be you could pause and unpause as needed to avoid fees is such a scam, o and no refunds once miss charged, how convenient for them. Pros The majority of my job is graphic design so when starting with this software, I felt a little nervous. Luckily the online support team is VERY responsive when I need help. Plus all of the videos they have online are a great help when you don't want to constantly ask for help. Cons I can't say anything negative at this time. Pros The real-time editing and ease of use once the build out of the page started was excellent! That and the responsive design made it look nice, no matter the use. Cons First time users, be ready for some questions and watching some videos, but their team is amazing and the help line is always open! Used it a few times to get up and running. They will even "dumb down" the answers so that no matter your skill level, you will get it and feel good about the product, contest, promotion that you are going live with! Pros It does what we need it to do, without our having to manually do a lot of it. We were able to use it's webhooks to plug it into Zapier to integrate with our list management. Cons It's cumbersome and awkward on the backend, the builder doesn't feel like it's been updated for over a decade. It feels very Windows 95 in a world that's running iOS. For the business, using Short Stack has also been beneficial as it has given us an easy and seamless way to engage with customers via competitions. Cons The only drawback of the platform is that it takes a while to figure out how to use it and sometimes can be hard to navigate. It would also be ideal if they would allow for more than one person to be on the account at once to make it easier for teams to work together on competitions. I will definitely be returning if we do this promotion again. Pros I really loved how easy it was to build a professional looking giveaway. My giveaway was very unique (different clues appearing at different days) and I loved how I could set the entire thing up ahead of time and let it run, confident all the timing was correct. This took a lot of stress out of the giveaway week. Cons It was hard to track the entries through social media. Once I started a free trial, I learned there was so much more to offer. Not only did it provide beautiful preset templates for contests, ShortStack offers landing pages and newsletter sign ups, which are essential for our artists. Cons I don't have a single complaint. I did think it was more difficult than I thought it would be to design the contest. Also, on the second run, we were unable to put the contest directly on Facebook and I think that affected the number of our entries. ShortStack's customer service was quite helpful though. Pros I liked being able to easily create a contest using ShortStack, and our first contest performed really well, so it definitely was able to help us reach our goals. It seemed easy for contest participants to use. Cons I thought it was a bit unwieldy to create the contest and create the look I wanted. More versatility with contest entries and the voting page would have been great, but even without that it was very visually appealing and well organized. Pros It was easy to use with a drag-and-drop editor, but also allowed for customization. Cons As a non-profit, it would be nice if there were even smaller-priced options than what is available for projects intended to be interacted with by an audience. Also, it would be nice to have the capability to download entries from our contest entrants. Reason for choosing ShortStack It appeared visually appealing and was laid out easily to learn. Cons Confusing interface, time consuming to customize even the smallest changes, lack of flexibility for displaying photos--a randomized list would be helpful: we received over 300 photos and it wasn't fair for those in the middle or the back end as theirs weren't often seen. This makes it really easy to run integrated, multi-faceted campaigns. The support team is also amazing and are always ready to help walk you through any questions or issues. Cons ShortStack is not always the most intuitive and it can be hard to navigate at times. The support team is great which helps when questions do arise and as you get more familiar with the tool, it does become much easier. Generally, the simple ones are easy to navigate but I wish there were a few more concise articles that are geared towards different types of widget usage. Reason for choosing ShortStack Pricing limits some capabilities with our clients so we generally stick to Mailchimp for free simple landing pages since widgets are more complicated on ShortStack. We enjoy the ability to have an advent calendar giveaway at Christmas, collect leads, run photo contests and endless other possibilities. Data files are easy to export and the ability to have a auto response email to submissions is great! Customer service is great any time we've encountered an issue or question.
