Pros: This software is OK for accounting. And that is about it. Any additional modules or functionality (you are buying this as an ERP, not just Quickbooks software) has an additional cost.

Cons: AR module does not allow for easily posting credits to specific invoices and does not have customer friendly statements

Overall: No benefits that I can think of. Software is very difficult to use and difficult to train others on. Not easily manipulated and mistakes are difficult to fix.

Pros: Changes Sage is making to make our work easier. Seems to be willing to listen and help us out in workflow and reports.

Cons: We would like to see more integration with Builder Trend. According to some reports, Sage is going to integrate, but the sooner the better for us. Reports are still pretty difficult if you don't have them set up perfectly to get the info we need. Any help would be appreciated.

Comments: The service and product support for this product is terrible at best, needed some specific questions answered about estimating module and couldn't find anyone with the knowledge to help us.

Pros: This product has a lot of features built in for certain business models , but isn't ideal for construction industry.

Cons: The thing that is bad about this product is no one in our area .I think if implementation of a product isn't done properly ,the product will not do what it was intended to do.

Pros: The program is easy to use. There are so many reports that provide great information on the company as a whole as well as reports for specific projects. The representatives in technical support are very knowledgeable and resolve most issues within the first phone call

Cons: It is difficult to customize reports and currently we are unable to use the email feature for scheduled reports. WE have contacted technical support and have been unable to resolve the issue.

Pros: I like that you can run custom reports. Using the time tickets makes it easy to go back and see who was on what job and when.

Cons: old checks change in the register if the person gets a raise. Also if you add a new employee field its gets clicked off in everyone's employee card.

Comments: We read hundreds of online reviews and interviewed a handful of system solutions. In the end, I am extremely happy with our decision. Sage is very easy to use and has increased our visibility and makes us more efficient every day. The support from the consultants is also fantastic. I highly recommend this product.

Pros: This product is highly integrated; almost every screen and report has drill down capability to see further detail. The job screen allows you to see nearly every input that has been made on a job from a single dashboard (budget, POs, subcontracts, change orders, invoices, payments, etc.)

Cons: The initial cost may seem high, but it is most definitely worth the money. Also, consider server options or a hosted server as part of the initial installation and cost.

Pros: Availability of Reports. V20 much better than previous versions. Has more capability than most users will ever need.

Cons: The fact that users are forced to pay for high end support because the software is what I can only assume is intentionally difficult to use. Additionally, we have too many instances to count where our software became corrupt. One such instance required recreating thousands of items back into the software. Reports are difficult to setup or modify.

Pros: It gives us the reports we need when analyzing jobs and cost. It allows us to do our own payroll/taxes and save the expense of outsourcing this to an accountant. We have used it for over 20 years and are very pleased with the recent upgrades to the operating system.

Pros: Easy to use and navigate from screen to screen. Has made our billing way more accurate and efficient.

Cons: Not all of the reporting we would like it there and some is not very beneficial. Payroll stub doesn't show different rates of pay. I also don't like that the use tax doesn't calculate properly and rounds up, so I have to manually calculate in order to balance.

Have used Sage for over 20 years. BEST software for Construction industry.

Comments: Sage is organized in a smart way that makes sense. Things are not generally buried somewhere, or organized in a way that you can accidentally enter things in multiple places (a nightmare I experienced repeatedly with Quickbooks). There are clear rules that follow basic accounting principles and tremendous resources for project management and business planning. It also has a lot of flexibility for customizing. The support services are unprecedented.

Pros: It leaves good audit trail for everything you do. As a bookkeeper this is invaluable for reconciling (unlike Quickbooks). Versatility in Job reports and tracking so much data for making smart business decisions.

Cons: It takes a long time to become truly proficient and is not designed for people without strong accounting abilities and knowledge. Some features are not intuitive. If you need custom reports you either need to take extensive classes or pay an expert (time consuming for the first and expensive for the second).

Comments: I've been using Sage 100 Contractor for 5 years and it was easy to learn and great to work with!

Pros: Client support is outstanding! Any time I have needed to use our support services I don't have to wait long on hold and get a very helpful agent. Problems have always been resolved in one call.

Cons: Sage has a lot of updates and some of them require a bit of time and re-learning certain areas. It's a good thing just time consuming.

Comments: Sage customer support online/via phone are very helpful, when I call the customer service representatives are very friendly and informative.

Pros: This software is easy to use and offers a wide range of reports for tracking costs and analyzing financial information. Utilizing all the modules makes the transitions easy when moving from a bid to a current project, all the way to project closeout. Their support staff are always knowledgeable and quite thorough in their efforts to help.

Cons: The report writer needs some overhaul. We need the ability to merge information more easily with Job Cost and AP. As a contractor it is critical for up to date information without having seperate reports for Job Cost and AP. Give those creating reports the ability to "connect" data indexes and set more than 3 sorts on a particular report.

Comments: Overall, Sage 100 Contractor is a wonderful software program. The support and technical assistance staff have been wonderful in the past and are always helpful with fixing any problems with may occur. We have been using this software since 2003 and it has been great. Another great feature are the reports for preparing quarterly payroll tax returns. This feature is a definite time saver for which I am very grateful.

Pros: I really like all the different reports that are available. I like having a client data base with all the contact information at my fingertips and it is wonderful that my boss can access it from his "laptop" so that he does not have to use the "main" computer to access the database or any bookkeeping information he may require for a specific job.

Cons: The only con is that now that we upgraded to Windows 10 there are are a few glitches. For example, whenever Windows 10 does an update on the "main" computer, it is necessary for me to "reset" the Sage 100 Contractor Hosting Framework back to "running" and also the Sage 100 SQL Contractor Hosting Framework back to "running". It is a bit of an inconvenience since my boss does not know how to "reset" them and therefore cannot access the bookkeeping information.

Comments: I find the software to be user friendly.

Pros: Love that you can drill down on things to research. Variety of reports and search options available.

Cons: Still a new user. If anything it would be entering invoices for payments using cost codes/PO's. It seems that at times we have trouble because even though there are balances remaining on the PO it is marked closed. So we have to go into the PO to open it back up in order to pay the remaining balance.

Comments: No, just this is a good program for job cost.

Pros: Ability to track cost. Being able to go to past years and research cost and construction trends. Job cost is very important to my company, Sage Contractor, has all the bells and whistles that make for excellent tracking of cost.

Cons: needing a budget entered to see cost to sales, really should be able to have cost with out budgets and still be able to at end of job compare cost of sales to sales. For profit following.

Comments: Needs some work, hopefully they continue to fix issues as they have always done in the past.

Pros: I've never used any other product so I can't make comparisons but I've been very happy with this program for over 15 years. It's very intuitive and easy to use. There are tons of reports, you can easily navigate information within reports to save time. Customer support has always been at the top of their game but it seems harder to get someone on the phone lately.

Cons: The functionality of this product slowed down tremendously (for us) once it went SQL or "live". I'm constantly waiting for every menu option to start. Yearly maintenance contract is expensive, especially in years where not much has improved. Does not seem to integrate with many programs like Quickbooks can. May have to look at other products if they don't catch up on this. Program crashes more than ever now that it's live.

Comments: I don't think I've ever seen a more complete software. I've used other software, designed for other industries and I can say that this one beats them all. If you're a contractor or subcontractor, you really need Sage 100 Contractor. You won't regret it.I've been using Sage 100 Contractor (formerly Master Builder) for almost 15 years and when I started, the in-software and online help was vague, at best, but over the years Sage has worked hard adding details to the "help" options which has put assistance at your fingertips.

Their Partner Reps are also a great value. They have years of experience and a wealth of knowledge to help with report customization and other learning related assistance. Another advantage is that Sage integrates well with other software like entering payroll information at the jobsite directly into the payroll module.

Comments: I have used this software since it was first invented in the DOS format! Really showing my age now! We don't do a lot of job costing anymore so I don't use it to it's full capacity but I still like the software. Just wish the yearly maintenance contract wasn't so expensive. Some years I barely use the service.

Pros: My personal opinion is that this software is Intuitive and easy to navigate. The report options are great and the forms can be modified for your personal preference.

Cons: Takes a long time to load when I first get on. Once it's loaded, I can switch between companies without too much hesitation. I have two monitors and when I open a screen it pops up on the other monitor and I have to drag it over.

Comments: Over all I have been very satisfied with this product.

Pros: The amount of time saved doing various government reports and for insurance purposes has been unbelievable. What use to take me hours to complete can now be accomplished in just minutes.

Cons: The only feature which I wish would improve is when the daily time is posted it would be reflected in the job cost. As of now, it does not post until after the payroll is processed.

Comments: Overall Sage is a great program, and I truly hope the SQL bugs are worked out soon.

Pros: The best part about Sage is that once you learn how to navigate 1 section of the software you will be able to navigate all of the sections. Sage is very user friendly and customizable.

Cons: Sage SQL has been nothing but problems for us. You lost ease of functionality in the search lists, and we keep getting error after error. Our IT guy has spent hours on the phone with support and have now been told they can no longer provide support.

Comments: I liked it, once I became familiar with the program and researched some of the features I was quite impressed with the overall function.

Pros: It has several great functions and features, and once you have a little experience with the software it actually becomes a fairly multifaceted resource for our operation.

Cons: The interface has some issues as far as multi-window operations. It will only allow you to access one window at a time which can sometimes hinder your performance if you need to fact check or reference other details.

Pros: Very powerful and customizeable. Allows you to segregate different departments very well. The report writer is powerful as well, minus a few drawbacks.

Comments: My overall experience was poor because of the lack of support and issues using the software. This is a cheap software, but keep in mind it's outdated and their updates still don't get you into what 2017 software should be doing for you.

Pros: Great reporting features Ability to handle lots of transactions Lots of good features for contractors Cheap

Cons: Technicality wise, it is outdated software No good features to learn about the software other than Sage University, so it is hard to train employees with This is such a niche software that finding help on an issue you run into is difficult and their technical support line is always a wait Difficult to integrate with other software Technical support and finding a good support rep is incredibly difficult

Comments: Transition from your old software to your new software is not included in the price. You must purchase multiple hours of training assistance if you need help with transitioning from your old software to your new software.

Pros: I like the product so far... it is pretty user friendly, especially the add on to the program of the document module software.

Cons: It does not generate the generic AIA billing form used to invoice the general contractor on a project. You must provide your own AIA forms and put them into the printer each time you print an AIA billing.

Comments: I encountered one technical difficulty and was blown away by the customer service I received.

Pros: The best thing about Sage 100 contractor is the presentation of information. The reports look professional and it is awesome to be able to set invoice defaults. The support we have received from rep at Aktion and Associates has made our transition from QuickBooks to Sage possible and could not have done it without him!

Cons: I do not like the number of steps you have to go through in order to process payroll. I also have had issues with voiding transactions and locating transactions.

Pros: * It is an easy conversion from Quick Books * Common sense goes a long way in figuring out how to use the program * Simple Import / Export processes

Cons: * Difficult to release Purchase Orders for an entire Project - each PO has to be created and e-mailed, there is no way to 'automatically' 'release' PO's for a job * Sales tax can only be set for the entire job - not all items within a job require sales tax - even when the TakeOff includes Sales Tax, that parameter is not carried over when the PO is created, each PO must be opened and the Sales Tax parameter identified in order to be included on the PO * Each PO must be individually opened for the status to be changed from Review in order to be paid without error messages appearing that indicate the PO is under Review * Difficult to make minor changes to Job details * Lacks the ability to process complete jobs through simple steps - everything has to be done singularly *

Cons: We have upgraded our server as advised by Sage, at a great expense and the software to 20.4. Now it is not completely operational. We cannot get Aatrix to work and the accounting link to our 3rd party vendor for our service department does not work now either. We have been working with Sage support and our very expensive IT guy for over 3 weeks and Sage support cannot find the problem.

Pros: The cost is amazing! So cost efficient for smaller companies not generating much revenue. The software is pretty basic in terms of functionality..

Cons: I believe that this software was the best in the early 2000's but as the times have gone not many updates have been made to update the look and functionality of this program.

Comments: It is critical to align with a consultant who is responsive and knowledgeable.

Pros: Backed by a large company. Option for multiple third party add-ons. Software that grows with you. Multiple modules to choose from.

Cons: Trying to learn this software without the support of a consultant is daunting. The help center is not very helpful.

Comments: It is a bit complicated, but there are a lot of different resources that they have to help those with training. Of course, there is a charge for some services which is why it may not be good for small businesses. We are a small business and it really helps keep things organized but it is expensive for us right now. So far we have not gone live yet, so there is not much that I can say regarding the use on a day to day basis.

Pros: It was easy to install. And uninstall. I did like how it linked to the bank really easy. You can have separate access for your accountant or others in the office to use for estimated or invoices.

Cons: Support. Difficult to work in Hard to look at. I also did not like the constant alerts to update changes that were not important or could not be changed (IE penalties for late payment on CRA - always asked that it be corrected to match the amount to be paid and not balance with the penalty. Again, this could be because I am a novice using a professional system.)

Comments: One of my biggest criticisms of Sage 100 is that we had to go through a third-party, Alliance Solutions Group, with the purchase and implementation. I don't know if this is the norm or not. If you have a choice, I certainly wouldn't recommend Alliance Solutions. We were QuickBooks for Construction users and Alliance screwed up tables and reports in the conversion. Sage 100 is a lot less user-friendly that QB and a lot less forgiving. Our PR person accidentally posted PR to the wrong month and we were told it couldn't be fixed even by JE.....how unforgiving is that!!

Pros: Affordability

Cons: Third-party for purchase and implementation Very unforgiving Not very user-friendly

Recommendations to other buyers: If knowing then what I know now, I would take a chance and go with another software package.

Comments: While this product is good, it has some deffinate drawbacks. Certificate of Liability management is still a problem, when entering in subcontracts if the subcontractor doesn't bill for exactly 10%, 20%, 30%, etc... it becomes cumbersome to post their invoice. There are all these little nuances that you have to know in order to use it.

Pros: More robust, better reporting.

Cons: Fields are limited to descriptions. Entering in subcontracts you can't post the total units for each. It automatically posts it as 1.0000 Expensive.

Recommendations to other buyers: While this is a step up from quickbooks, I feel there is better software available at a lower cost.

Comments: Keymont Construction has used Sage 100 Contractor for over 10 years. I have always found it easy to use and to navigate through the menus. I like that the reports can be edited to fit the needs of the company. I also like that there are many options available when printing reports. The other wonderful thing about Sage 100 Contractor is the Customer Service. I have worked with many customer service representatives through the years and they have always been patient and very helpful. I especially like the representative, she was very helpful when I had to install the new program last year and I honestly could not have done it without her help and expertise. With the change to Windows 10 came some new quirks and everyone at Customer Service was so helpful and knew right away how to resolve our problems. I would like to give 10 Stars to the Customer Service representatives who have helped me through the years. Thank you for all your help.

Pros: Ease of use and variety of reports.

Cons: It runs very slowly with Windows 10 but that might just be our computer and not the program itself. It also seems to have more quirks with Windows 10.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would highly recommend Sage 100 Contractor but I would not use Windows 10 with it.

Comments: I was told that this program would print AIA forms and all certified payroll forms. After installing and working on for a year to set up It didn't print the AIA form correctly and you also had to but the blank forms. The certified payrolls were not for different state, city & county agents. After speaking to SAGE support and where I purchased it they both told me to call my rep who helped me set it up. So, in other words, they wanted me to pay someone to fix the issues! I have requested a FULL refund and still have not heard anything! VERY unhappy with SAGE.

Recommendations to other buyers: Beware!

Comments: I have used "Master Builder" since 1993. I love this product. We are not a large contractor, and yet we have always received the best customer support.

Pros: The software has always suited our needs perfectly. It is easy to customize reports. The tech support is great.

Cons: For such a large company, I would love it if the hours for tech support were longer, and included Saturday. The website has always been a bit clunky for me, although it has gotten better over the last couple of years.

Comments: I have been working with Sage Master Builder for over 12 years. It is a very easy system to learn, but at the same time, gives detailed information in the reports that you require. The customer service is excellent and is very knowledgeable and friendly when interacting with them. We have looked at other software systems, but for the price and resources, this is the best way to go.

Pros: Easy to learn, makes sense when posting and pulling reports, customer service.

Cons: Nothing!

Recommendations to other buyers: For a contractor, it is wonderful to work with, easy to understand, easy to pull reports, etc. However, at the same time, the information that you have is detailed and professional.

Comments: I have been using Sage 100 Contractor for over 15 years. I really like the total integration from estimate to accounting. Change orders are easily prepared and sent out to both clients and subs. Reports are handled at the touch of a button. If you need something customized their experts are top notch.

Pros: Integration of estimates to jobs to accounting. Tracking of the subcontracts & change orders. Support is THE BEST! I have never had a problem that was not resolved on the first call.

Cons: Scheduling module is not great or easy to use.

Recommendations to other buyers: There is a learning curve but once you are over the hump it is smooth sailing.

Comments: I worked with several other accounting and job costing software and Sage has proved to be one of the most user-friendly. The software was easy to learn and implement. The online classes offered are information and well worth the time to learn the software. Customer service is one of the best! They are always friendly, helpful and make sure they have solved your problem before closing the case. Other than high traffic times such as the first of the year, wait time is minimal. With a third party software that works within Sage, payroll taxes are a breeze! Reports are through, customizable and easily exported to Excel.

Pros: User friendly Customizations Reports and Queries are easy to use once you get the hang of them. Creating queries or reports to access any information needed is a huge plus! Direct deposit for payroll and vendors is extremely easy to use. Customer Service experience is very positive. I love the chat option and also the access to the knowledge base. Easy access to the help file online, by hitting F1 you can read about every aspect of the software. The general ledger audit and payroll audit features help to ensure the integrity of your data.

Cons: The biggest adjustment we had to make when moving to Sage was the check writing process. In order for a check to be applied to a specific vendor, you have to create an invoice. You have the option to just write a check, but it will not transfer that information to the vendor's record.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take advantage of the online classes, access the user guide to better understand the processes.

Comments: I have been using MasterBuilder since the 1980's, before it was even Windows based, when it was DOS, before the mouse. I have worked for many different kinds of construction companies in different states. I recommended this software when starting at two new companies, and it was purchased for the management of multi-million dollar projects by both. It works well for very large, large, small and phased projects. This has consistently been the most user-friendly and comprehensive software for the construction industry I have ever worked with. I have been in the industry for 37 years.

Pros: Everything

Cons: End of year and closing changes.

Comments: I was new to the industry and this software in April. The learning curve was quite steep, as I was used to using Apple and Microsoft products.

Pros: I love the job costing and job labor reports. When I have issues, the customer service is quite good--although hold times are often long and the callback feature doesn't seem to work with my phone.

Cons: I'm used to Apple products where there are 3 or 4 different commands or ways to do the same function. There are still many functions I haven't been able to figure out. This software was purchased to help with estimating, but the owner found it so cumbersome and unfriendly to use, that he gave up using it for estimating and take-offs and went back to his old way w/google sheets. The search functions seem archaic.

Recommendations to other buyers: I feel this product would be great for a larger firm. We are only 6 employees doing residential remodel and new builds. I've heard of other cloud-based software packages that can be used with Quick Books that would better suit our needs--more user-friendly and cost-effective across multiple devices.

Comments: Fairly easy to install and learn. Good features although some have limited capabilities. Customizing simple reports are easy, however, extensive knowledge is required for extensive reports creation. Support for customized reports is basically zero.

Comments: Very poor upfront design consultation from our implementation consultants. Even their support personell is wondering why they even sold this to us. We have very unique requirements for our electrical and low voltage business and consultants said we could acheive our goals. turns out that their solution for us required "tricking " the program to work a certain way which we are now paying the price for. Also this is ABSOLUTELY NOT the software you want to use if you are using a vpn to link multiple offices together. They dont support vpn. Be very clear in what servers hardware you are looking to use and domain controller. Overall Sage charges for absolutely everything (including the API) which is has lousy documentation at best. Also discovered that they have a major flaw in attachments (such as documents) that are not secure based on the permissions you give out to particular users. Searching data and trying to find a transaction is horrible. There are soooo many basic featurs that Quickbooks enterprise had that are sorely missed. Would definitely stay away from this software for anothere year. Hopefully, now that they are on SQL database, they will come out with some major improvements- will wait and see. IF they dont, we will scrap this after investing over $K. Horrible software right now and also doesnt integrate with anyone. I think everybody has abandoned integrating with it as there are too many problems with it. Be careful before you buy this!!!!

Pros: AIA integration Only good for very large commercial jobs

Cons: Not good for multi office vpn use. Security for attachments is non existent Very difficult to search for items No bank download feed - yet Integrates with very few other vendors API is very expensive Sage locks everything down so no open friendly API (this is old school mentality)

Recommendations to other buyers: Wait a year or so and see what new functionality they produce now that they have a SQL database (FINALLY!!!!)

Pros: Ease of use Customer service

Cons: Current version runs slowly.

Recommendations to other buyers: Shop around but Sage is a great product.

Comments: I found it to be user friendly and very easy to work with. It is also similar to QuickBooks but a bit more complex than QuickBooks and has more functionality that an accountant would use. Enough for small to large companies.

Comments: Sage 100 is very easy to learn and run. It is great for Accounts payables, receivables, printing checks, and running payroll. Creating the database takes time, but once it is up and running, it is reliable. Each module is located in a centralized location.

Cons: The time tracking tool is very inefficient.

Comments: We spent a lot of time researching various products for our construction project management software. We had tried Builder Trend and didn't like the clunkiness of messaging, to-do's, and the selections. It also didn't handle payroll. We were looking for a one-software-does-all program; something that could handle everything from leads, estimates, take-offs, budgets, contracts, ongoing project financial reporting, all of our inhouse bookkeeping and all of our payroll administration. We chose Sage 100 Contractor because of it's ability to do all of these things. So far, we have completed a bunch of training on Sage, and we have just recently gone live. It seems like it works very well and handles most tasks efficiently.

Pros: Does all of the tasks I mentioned; leads, estimates, take-offs, budgets, contracts, ongoing project financial reporting, all of our inhouse bookkeeping and all of our payroll administration. Massively reduces the likelihood of double entry. Pretty easy to use and fairly intuitive. Easy job reporting functionality. Great payroll functionality and end of year automation (eg for T5018s for subs)

Cons: Not cloud based so it's difficult to access the information from anywhere. Not a mac software and does not work great with Parallels. Does not include time-tracking software for employee time sheets and we've been recommended against Sage Anywhere (the software we were initially told would perform this task) by the actual sales consultants at Sage! Does not integrate with Toggle (the time management software we are currently using.) Because of the points above, entering time cards for job costing is very time consuming. Very expensive!

Recommendations to other buyers: Think about how you will be accessing and using this software and have a network person help you with the set up. If you are on Macs, consider whether this is the right program given that it is windows only, therefore you need to run a virtual machine or connect to a PC remotely.

Comments: Overall I really like this product. It has many features, where you can go from estimating to billing a project. Also the report writing allows you to customize reports very well, except sometimes! For example when writing a proposal the detail lines went into the numbers, and their solution was to bring in a third party report writing program to convert it to a word document, costing more money. Also Descriptions have a limited writing space which makes you have to create new lines. Just a bunch of little bugs in the over all labeling and report writing parts of the program. Like I said I do really like this from an accounting view point. I keeps everything in order and allows for me to drill down and find details throughout the program.

Pros: I like how everything has a place and it can handle so many components to dealing with an entire Construction company

Cons: The little bugs when writing reports.

Recommendations to other buyers: This product defiantly takes some getting used to. I had been using Quickbooks my whole life, and then when I had to learn this program, it defiantly took me awhile. Don't give up, it really has a lot of checks and balances to make sure you don't make mistakes, or forget something. Also allows you to stay more organized. The more boxes you fill out the better the program will work for you.

Comments: We bought Sage and used it for a month to see if we liked the product. What we found is that Sage did not fit with our business needs. The main issue was that we could not search our inventory with more than one keyword, which is a huge deal when you carry 24 different kinds of "cup." We also had an issue of adding customers and searching customers who have the same name. We currently have a system that assigns account numbers to each customer. Customer Service recommended that we save each customer under their name rather than a customer number since you can only search customers based on one criteria. The issue however, is we have several businesses with the same name, just different owners/addresses. The main issue was the lack of search functionality. For this reason, we did not switch over to Sage.

Pros: Ease of use

Cons: Search functionality

Recommendations to other buyers: Do a trial and see if it works for your business first before committing

Pros: This is a much better solution than Quickbooks Contractor edition, which really only gives you some additional reports. Sage 100 allows you to track subcontracts, purchase agreements, change orders, ect at the job level, which can not be done in QB.

Cons: It is a bit more costly than QB and unfortunately is not cloud based, which is nice in this day and age.

Recommendations to other buyers: Watch a youtube video on the comparison of Sage 100 Versus QB for Contractors.

Pros: Toll Free Help Line, there is a steep learning curve. Having a digital database tracking invoices, work orders and PO's is a huge help especially when accessible through a network.

Cons: its beeps all the time. Cannot find a quote easily after the status is changed to a quote. Dispatch board is tedious at best, no quick make to make work orders.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you buy enough licenses. Spend a good amount of time in the sample company before setting up your own.

Pros: The fact that almost all my needs are met within the same program is amazing. Also the fact that we own the software there is no month to month rental makes a huge difference.

Cons: The program isn't hard to use but I find some of my employees that are not really computer savvy have a bit of a hard time finding their way around. The biggest issue is how non user friendly it is to find stuff like quotes and customers. Also there is some info that they ask for in places that doesn't make sense. The program is a little rough around the edges I should also mention that the scheduling module is useless to us. We use google calendar instead.

Recommendations to other buyers: I recommend that you really look at the added features like the scheduling, inventory and such as they seem to need the most updating. Also have your book keeper/accountant play with it too as that side has a lot of differences over Sage 50. I also recommend that you plan to transition a lot slower than you would originally think.

Pros: The product is relatively simple to simple to navigate through and it is very economical. It is relatively easy to create your own reports.

Cons: The product is not the best tool in support of complex project management needs; although we are doing things a bit out of the box. Also, we would like better CRM support along with bid tracking enhancements.

Recommendations to other buyers: It is a good software if on a budget. If you have more money to spend I have glanced at View Point and that software does offer a few more bells and whistles.

Pros: the ability to create your own templates and estimate the way you did take offs was huge. I love how it can be a as complicated as you want it to be.

Cons: It like that it can take some employees multiple months of training until they are proficcient at this program. It is complicated when you start diving into certain solutions to help your company out.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would recomned for full time estimators but would discourage this program for those that estimate part time.

Pros: Sage 100 ERP has enough functionality for a small- to mid- sized business. Its AP and AR modules are easy to use and very straightforward.

Cons: Sage is not very user friendly for accounting oddities or idiosyncrasies. It does not trace transactions through different modules - such as PO to product receipt to invoice - very well. It is also not very user-friendly when searching for specific transactions.

Recommendations to other buyers: Test every module and every situation within the system prior to purchasing. Understand the limitations and make sure it is okay for your small business.

Pros: I have used this product when it was Timberline with two other companies I worked for in the past with one being a nationwide home building and the other a mid-range commercial contractor. Then when I went out on my own seven years ago it was the first thing I looked at for it's easy of use for my employees and it gave us everything we needed.

Cons: So far, I haven't found anything that I have not liked.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look into ease of use by all who will be working with it and how easy the information flows from beginning to end of a project.

Pros: Sage 100 full fills our Commercial Construction Management needs. It's help keep our internal Team, Subcontractors and Clients organized and current from start to finish on all Projects.

Cons: Sage 100 is great for a small or mid sized company but as we are expanding our platform and building for a larger scale Client, we are finding that Sage 100 is limiting us and that we may need to upgrade to the next level of software that Sage has to offer.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would definitely encourage anyone whom is considering purchasing a software for their Company to review Sage and all the services they have to offer. Their support Team and online knowledge base is a great asset too!

Pros: Good integration between estimating, project management, accounting, payroll, service, IFS Core.

Cons: Some reports take FOREVER (e.g. a/p aging & service receivable aging can take more than an hour to process). Inventory is cumbersome.
