### "Sage is a good value for the the money I paid"

September 10, 2021

5.0

Despite their short comings,I can tell you that sage 300 is the best management software out their with good value for money, and I highly recommend it for either large or small real estate or construction companies.

Pros

What I like is the face that sage helps me to boost my project productivity, limiting errors, improving correspondence among parties, and creating adjustible reports

Cons

I have been using this software for a while now and my only issues us that I still cant remove some dormant account.that is my only issues

### "Overall I would recommend this software."

April 22, 2026

4.0

We've been using it for almost 20 years (formerly Timberline), so we're pretty comfortable with how the software works overall.

Pros

We use Sage 300 CRE, it's connectivity and customization capabilities are a major feature for us. I like how all the modules work together from project management all the way to financial reporting.

Cons

Human customer support is top notch, but, if the call is after hours or weekends, speaking with a human seems to no longer be an option and instead I'm forced to try and solve my issues with a useless AI bot. By the time I've contacted support, I've already tried to solve the issue six ways from Sunday as I am very familiar with how the software works, so a call is usually my last resort and going around in circles with AI doesn't do it for me, especially given we pay upwards of $15,000 for the gold tier support. We're considering downgrading from the gold tier to basic and just pay for support by the hour going forward since the convenience of any time support is gone and we don't call support enough to justify that price tag.

### "Feature-Rich Software Suite Requiring a Lot of Training"

March 26, 2026

3.0

As an estimating tool Sage offers up the accuracy needed to keep projects on budget. It is still very cluttered, requires a lot of ongoing training, and suffers from security risks being a remote only software.

Pros

The customer support with Sage is excellent which is important because you are going to need it. Sage handles estimate creation and quote management well with it's limitless customizable tools. Accounting and financial reporting are included with the suite as well.

Cons

Sage is very expensive to purchase and maintain a license. It is also not easy to set up or use without repeated yearly training. This is remote software, not a web-based platform nor a local software suite, so your information is accessed from an entirely different computer putting security into question.

### "Happy with Sage 300"

June 3, 2026

5.0

I have been a Sage 300 user for 27 years and it meets all our needs. Easy to train new hires on the product.

Pros

Extremely easy to use. Like that there are numerous business partners that work with this platform. Helps us customize for our needs.

Cons

I wish there was a way to make the fonts larger. It is really challenging to read data and as accountants we can make mistakes as some digits look similar.

### "Take the time to learn it, you won't regret it!!"

April 21, 2026

5.0

When I first started with my current company the bookkeeper was old school and only used the program for the bare minimum like payroll, invoicing and printing cheques. I signed up with a business partner and they have shown me some great features that make the month end process so much smoother.

Pros

I love the work flow & specialty features like reallocating income with holding accounts, it makes my month end so much easier.

Cons

The only way to get quick support is the sign up with a business partner and pay them for the service. The online support is not specific situational enough.

### "Cost reports are excellent"

April 21, 2026

4.0

It is better than most but can use some improvement on payroll reports but for the price is very effective.

Pros

I have been using sage since the early 2000's. The software has evolved over the years and some things are better some are worse. It is great at job costing and the customizable reports help you get just what information you need easily. Customer support is always helpful and pleasant.

Cons

Certified payroll reports if you have any fringes are not worth processing. You have to create a different calculation for every employee for every payrate. When you have 50+ employees and they can work on 3-4 different positions and you have 6 wages scale jobs that is just too many calculations for 4-6 month projects.

### "Great Functionality Once You Learn the System"

February 26, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with Sage Construction Suite has been positive. It’s a powerful system that provides strong control over project financials, job costing, and reporting. While it can take some time to learn, once familiar with it, the software becomes a reliable tool for managing construction projects efficiently.

Pros

The best part for me was how everything is connected. Having financials, job costing, and project information in one system saved a lot of time and reduced mistakes compared to managing things separately.

Cons

One thing I liked least was that the interface can feel a bit dated and takes some time to get used to. New users often need training before they feel fully comfortable navigating the system.

Pros

User friendly and customizable. A lot of data that can show health of projects and company overall. Can bet set alot of different ways.

Cons

Almost too much! Lots to learn. There are so many ways to get to the same data. And so many ways to customize. Learning to do that can be daunting.

### "Sage made us more efficient"

February 27, 2025

5.0

Overall, we find the software to be more suitable for all of our needs, without having to upgrade to add additional "modules" to access further features such as purchase orders.

Pros

We switched from Viewpoint to Sage and find Sage to much easier to use for our firm. The interface is easier to navigate and the software allows for easier customization for documents and contracts.

Cons

It took us a little bit to get set up qith our atandard docs however, we did find the process easier than our previous programming

### "Sage 100 Contractor - Honest Feedback "

August 13, 2021

3.0

It covers the basics of what we need, but really has not raised the level of service we are providing through technology. Sage 100 seems to have a good base, but needs a lot of development to make it standout.

Pros

We liked the fact that Sage 100 has Accounting, Service (work order management), and New Construction (Job management) in one package. Our goal was to make sure all programs are seamlessly communicating by having the same platform. None of these products really standout as special, but have the basic functions.

Cons

Basic functions in Accounting were set up strange and go against GAPP principles. Payroll is cumbersome to manage and Sage does not have a really good field time capture solution. SSO is basic and inconsistent. Basic navigation to look up customers and manage service contracts are not streamlined. It takes to many steps to access information and no easy wildcard "look up" functions.

### "Powerful Construction Accounting Solution with a Learning Curve"

May 1, 2026

5.0

Overall, Sage Construction Suite is a powerful and reliable solution tailored for the construction industry. It’s best suited for mid-sized to larger companies that require detailed financial tracking and are prepared to invest time in setup and training. Once implemented, it becomes a dependable system for managing construction accounting and operations.

Pros

Sage Construction Suite excels in job costing and financial tracking. The ability to drill down into costs by job, phase, and cost code provides strong visibility into project performance. Reporting features, especially WIP reports, are detailed and useful for forecasting and decision-making. The integration between accounting, payroll, and project modules helps streamline workflows and reduces duplicate data entry.

Cons

There is a noticeable learning curve during onboarding, particularly for teams without prior Sage experience. Custom reports and configurations can require additional support or technical knowledge.

### "First Nations' Limited Partnership Corporation - Second Wind Power Limited Partnership"

May 4, 2026

3.0

The product has changed to become more user friendly for my purposes. The advantage is that I can use the Accountant download/upload feature and the auditors are familiar and streamlines the audit process (this usually translates into a cheaper cost for conduction the Audit)

Pros

I have used SAGE products in the past. There have been some improvements over the years that make the software more user friendly. Note that I am a casual user that uses the base accounting of the program

Cons

My work is for First Nations that have a Limited Partnership Corporate setup. I find the linked accounts for taxation are not applicable for Tax-free First Nations applications and it is awkward to amend linked accounts to better streamline accounting for First Nations the are tax exempt.

### "Great product"

April 27, 2026

5.0

I love the default dashboard, default reports, ease of editing sales invoices and bills to pay. Would recommend.

Pros

Sage has many default reports which makes it easy to grab what you need and start analyzing. Since it is downloaded on my desktop, I love not needing internet to login and get to work.

Cons

I wish it was easier to customize reports. For example, I need to pull the top 5 vendors every year for our IRS return, the current options don't make it easy to pull aggregate data by vendor for a certain period.

### "Needs More User Friendly Features"

May 17, 2021

3.0

We would not purchase it again and would prefer to go back to our old system, but we've invested too much to do that at this time.

Pros

Widely universal so integration software more readily available with management systems and customer relation software.

Cons

We came from ComputerEase, which is very user friendly. Sage appears to be outdated. The installation and upgrade process is very time consuming and for most would require hiring their services to install or your IT personnel. The biggest issue we have is the font size. If you try to change the font size in your screen, the windows will distort and you cannot access certain information within Sage, so it strains your eyes to view the information. My other big concern, is that when processing applications for payment within Billing, it will allow you to go over 100% on a scheduled line. If you don't manually check via print preview, you can very likely overbill. Additionally, when voiding applications, there are some major hassles when it comes to stored materials on jobs that don't carry over stored each month. Lastly, if you do not post in the order and timeframe that you are trained to do, it results in a large hassle and time-consuming elimination process. There are several other items that are not favorable, but these are the top ones on our mind most frequently.

Reason for choosing Sage Construction Suite

Because of the Procore Integration and because we could save documents within in as we did in ComputerEase (so we were told at the time). During the end of our training we were told otherwise and were forced to then purchase Sage Paperless in order to keep this feature. We were given it at a discount, but it is not as user friendly as CE.

### "Don't waste your money.... Not Ready for Primetime"

February 10, 2023

1.0

With more than 30 years of Construction and IT Management experience, working with numerous other platforms, I find my time on this platform the most troublesome and frustrating part of my job.

Pros

There is nothing I like about this platform.

Cons

The developer has created a platform on the most narrow and arcane perspective of construction contracting and management. Nothing about this platform is congruent with industry standards and methodology, particularly if you work in the government sector. It is like someone took shortcuts in the SQL database development rather than truly thinking though the numerous permutations of the business processes associated with construction management. Every GUI for every module forces you to follow the developer's narrow methodology which frankly exposes their inexperience and poor understanding of construction management. You will find it takes far too many incongruent steps through too many screens creating cognitive disconnect just to perform the simplest tasks. You will likely find yourself developing workarounds just to get by..... only to find they don't work either. Just wait till you try to enter a contact's company title only to realize that you're forced to select from a drop down that can only be edited at the Contact Management Settings module! Utterly Stupid! And every element of every module is constructed this way. The canned reports are mediocre and tools to build custom reports harken back the old SQL and Access crap report builders. Don't even bother with the Excel import tools: besides having to downgrade files to 97/03 formats you have to use their canned spreadsheets only find numerous manual steps are still required to complete entries. I could go on......

### "Where are the user instructions available for special reports and features? "

May 17, 2021

4.0

Pros

I did not do the integration, that was done by IT and they do not use the same day to day features that most users deal with. I'm sure the system is much easier for the IT people, but it needs to be easy or have instructions available for the every day majority of the users in the office. It seems very easy for day to day use for the majority of the work done in the office, there are just a few reports and features that would be nice to have. Possibly they are available but I'm not sure where to get instructions.

Cons

We were not provided with any sort of ongoing instructions or help for specific issues that we encountered after we fully implemented and starting using the software. Sometimes it will take a while to get use to something to realize you need other types of reports/information or functions, we had to just learn by trial and error. There is limited space when adding Vendors and no way (at least not know to us) to get rid of a vendor once it is added. We ended up with MANY double entry vendors. Additionally, making a vendor inactive in AP does not stop that vendor from being used in the SM module which creates issues importing. One of the biggest problems we have had is that the PO field allows users to accidentally type in random various characters, such as a / or lower case letters, which causes an error in the program importing. The system does not recognize the random characters which has cause a never ending loop posting. The system should not even allow someone to put in a character it will later not recognize, as we now have no way to get rid of these errors. Even customer service cannot fix the problem. We have POs that now have 492 lines as they are stuck in a loop and every day that we post another line gets added. Also we could use a reference guide on how to run specific reports we desire.

### "Good product, frustrating reporting, is Sage looking forward? "

August 13, 2021

4.0

Solid ERP software. Expensive to get all the "bells and whistles". Requires work outside the software to get useful information efficiently.

Pros

Once trained, easy to use. Good security policies in place to allow multiple users with access to only what they need.

Cons

Cumbersome to get information out. If you want Job information about an AP invoice, you need to look at two different inquiries because the job info is in the Job Cost database while you are looking in the Accounts Payable database, or vice versa. Even with daily time entry, the Payroll module doesn't offer an inquiry or report to get daily info about an employee (Job charged to, EQ used, etc.) Finally, why doesn't Sage have any plans to develop a 64-bit ODBC driver? The whole world is going to 64-bit Windows platforms, but have to use 32-bit Spreadsheet software to use the ODBC connection to access the information that should be available from within the software itself.
