### "great potential if the suites can sync/talk better"

April 22, 2026

4.0

A lot of hiccups with the transition from S100 to SCM (or merger in our case as we need to keep s100 for accounting)

Pros

ability to keep accounting and PM systems connected. And most of the time tracking and reporting abilities are thorough

Cons

SCM shows great promise but dang why cant ALL the project information match up/sync. Only job numbers pull over and i need to double enter.

### "Cost reports are excellent"

April 21, 2026

4.0

It is better than most but can use some improvement on payroll reports but for the price is very effective.

Pros

I have been using sage since the early 2000's. The software has evolved over the years and some things are better some are worse. It is great at job costing and the customizable reports help you get just what information you need easily. Customer support is always helpful and pleasant.

Cons

Certified payroll reports if you have any fringes are not worth processing. You have to create a different calculation for every employee for every payrate. When you have 50+ employees and they can work on 3-4 different positions and you have 6 wages scale jobs that is just too many calculations for 4-6 month projects.

My overall experience with Sage is a love-hate relationship to say the least. In order to get the exact report that you need, you need to make sure you have all the proper modules or have an outside agency create a specific report for you or if you make a report of your own, you need to have a degree in CSS coding or some sort of coding experience

Pros

There really isn't anything in particular that I like most about it. I'm used to it by now, so I understand how it works and that's really the most I can tell you.

Cons

It's not as user friendly as they make it out to be. If you need something specific, you need to have an outside agency do it for you, which costs money. With today's economy, you'd think they would make something a bit easier on the wallet, but that's not the case. They make you believe that what you need is included, but if you need something like estimating, that's not included in the base program. Despite needing an estimating module for construction, that's an extra. If you do serviceable work, that's an extra module added. I call Sage a money pit, because that's exactly what it is.

### "Think hard about buying Sage Construction products"

April 23, 2026

2.0

Overall, if I hadn't spent over $15000 implementing this I would no longer be using Sage 100. We are currently implementing shop management software (Strumis) that I'm hoping will cover our project management and payables approvals requirements, and if it does I will no longer use Sage 100. And \*no surprise\* Strumis and Sage will not be able to exchange any information at all. The costs are way too high for the lack of features, lack of integration options, amount of headaches, and lack of support. We're paying almost $8000 CAD per year on this, I absolutely do not find it worth it.

Pros

The internal integrations between PM and accounting and payroll work really well. Handling COs and progress bills is super easy. There's great accounting features - being able to lock periods is wonderful, and having a period option instead of just a date option (as in Sage 50) is amazing. Customizing reports is great. It's very NOT user-friendly, but if you can figure it out it's great, and you don't need any 3rd party to make it work.

Cons

As per usual Sage, almost NOTHING integrates with it. I have literally one option for payables approvals and importing and it costs as much as the annual on Sage itself. For the amount of money it costs leaves a lot to be desired. I can't even import a .csv without some sort of 3rd party something that I can't even be bothered to look into because there's no way any additional costs will be worth it. My "business partner" is fairly terrible and Sage won't let me deal with someone else. Getting support for Sage is awful. I have to go through the chat every single time, then escalate it, then wait for a callback. I have Sage 100 Contractor Canada, and Sage Paperless, but apparently they're two different companies and two entirely different support channels. But I can't get support directly from Paperless, I have to go through Sage who has no idea how to troubleshoot anything about Paperless. Nightmare.

### "Take the time to learn it, you won't regret it!!"

April 21, 2026

5.0

When I first started with my current company the bookkeeper was old school and only used the program for the bare minimum like payroll, invoicing and printing cheques. I signed up with a business partner and they have shown me some great features that make the month end process so much smoother.

Pros

I love the work flow & specialty features like reallocating income with holding accounts, it makes my month end so much easier.

Cons

The only way to get quick support is the sign up with a business partner and pay them for the service. The online support is not specific situational enough.

### "Overall I would recommend this software."

April 22, 2026

4.0

We've been using it for almost 20 years (formerly Timberline), so we're pretty comfortable with how the software works overall.

Pros

We use Sage 300 CRE, it's connectivity and customization capabilities are a major feature for us. I like how all the modules work together from project management all the way to financial reporting.

Cons

Human customer support is top notch, but, if the call is after hours or weekends, speaking with a human seems to no longer be an option and instead I'm forced to try and solve my issues with a useless AI bot. By the time I've contacted support, I've already tried to solve the issue six ways from Sunday as I am very familiar with how the software works, so a call is usually my last resort and going around in circles with AI doesn't do it for me, especially given we pay upwards of $15,000 for the gold tier support. We're considering downgrading from the gold tier to basic and just pay for support by the hour going forward since the convenience of any time support is gone and we don't call support enough to justify that price tag.

### "Feature-Rich Software Suite Requiring a Lot of Training"

March 26, 2026

3.0

As an estimating tool Sage offers up the accuracy needed to keep projects on budget. It is still very cluttered, requires a lot of ongoing training, and suffers from security risks being a remote only software.

Pros

The customer support with Sage is excellent which is important because you are going to need it. Sage handles estimate creation and quote management well with it's limitless customizable tools. Accounting and financial reporting are included with the suite as well.

Cons

Sage is very expensive to purchase and maintain a license. It is also not easy to set up or use without repeated yearly training. This is remote software, not a web-based platform nor a local software suite, so your information is accessed from an entirely different computer putting security into question.

Pros

Works for what we need. Easy to run reports and simply to use. Able to drop reports into excel to use the numbers that I need for report.

Cons

can only go back one year for payroll reports. Hard at beginning of year and if need to what did prior year closeouts.

### "Capable Software That Requires Investment in Time and Training"

April 24, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with Sage Construction Suite has been mixed but generally positive. It’s a powerful system that does a good job handling accounting, job costing, and project management in one place. Once users are familiar with it, it’s dependable and gives good visibility into project financials. That said, it takes time to get comfortable with, and day‑to‑day tasks can feel slower than in newer, more streamlined platforms. It works best for teams that have the time and resources to fully implement and maintain it.

Pros

I liked how well everything is integrated. Having accounting, project costing, and job management in one system makes it easier to keep track of projects without jumping between tools. The reporting is solid and gives useful visibility into costs and job profitability, and it scales well as projects get more complex. Once it’s set up properly, it’s a reliable platform for managing construction operations day to day.

Cons

The biggest downside is the learning curve. It’s not very intuitive at first, and new users usually need training before they can work efficiently. Setup and customization can also be time‑consuming. The interface feels a bit dated compared to newer platforms, and performance can slow down when working with large datasets or complex reports. Cost can be a factor as well, especially for smaller teams that won’t use all the features.

### "ongonig problems with timberline"

April 28, 2026

frustrating as hell starting 2002, the constant change for the sake of change has not been beneficial to me, it has infact cost me time and money. unfortunately im so invested in the program that it doesnt make sense for me to change at this point in time. I may just go back to simple spreadsheets in the future

Pros

the stuff you didnt change, when something works stick with it, change for the sake of change is not a benefit

Cons

you changed items and how the items updating of cost works, ive used timberline estimating since 1999 and now I have to figure out how to use items again

Overall using this is very easy which makes estimating a breeze. I like that you can use for multiple jobs at the same time.

Pros

This is a value added addition within the Sage Suite of options. I use it mostly for accessing and tracking the costs per individual job allocation

Cons

I think a more direct option, possibly using dropdown menu's, at the start of each initial job set up pertaining to account allocation would be useful.

### "Sage is okay."

February 10, 2026

4.0

I have used sage products all the way back to Peachtree, Goldmine and Act! CRM. Sage 300 feels pretty much the same as it did 20 years ago, and that isn't necessarily a good thing. There is inconsistency across modules (some use list, others use different terminology for same function)

Pros

Mostly easy to use once the quirks are figured out. If you know the software it is great, the reporting is decent.

Cons

The UI is not intuitive, feels dated. I hate the inconsistency across modules in Sage 300 CRE. List should be the same across all modules as an example.

### "Sage made us more efficient"

February 27, 2025

5.0

Overall, we find the software to be more suitable for all of our needs, without having to upgrade to add additional "modules" to access further features such as purchase orders.

Pros

We switched from Viewpoint to Sage and find Sage to much easier to use for our firm. The interface is easier to navigate and the software allows for easier customization for documents and contracts.

Cons

### "Powerful Construction Accounting Solution with a Learning Curve"

May 1, 2026

5.0

Overall, Sage Construction Suite is a powerful and reliable solution tailored for the construction industry. It’s best suited for mid-sized to larger companies that require detailed financial tracking and are prepared to invest time in setup and training. Once implemented, it becomes a dependable system for managing construction accounting and operations.

Pros

Sage Construction Suite excels in job costing and financial tracking. The ability to drill down into costs by job, phase, and cost code provides strong visibility into project performance. Reporting features, especially WIP reports, are detailed and useful for forecasting and decision-making. The integration between accounting, payroll, and project modules helps streamline workflows and reduces duplicate data entry.

Cons

There is a noticeable learning curve during onboarding, particularly for teams without prior Sage experience. Custom reports and configurations can require additional support or technical knowledge.

### "Good starting point for software"

May 5, 2026

4.0

I find myself mostly using the procurement tab to organize all my billings and projects. Overall there are some great aspects of the platform but I feel it could be modernized a bit.

Pros

I like the menu design when I first log in, and seeing everything at a glance. Having tasks to alert me to items pending or missed is also helpful.

Cons

We do not use the bidding platform portion because I find it "clunky" and not very user friendly. The interface looks old and outdated, and I find that other softwares have better tools available for the same price.

### "Nice product"

April 27, 2026

### "First Nations' Limited Partnership Corporation - Second Wind Power Limited Partnership"

May 4, 2026

3.0

The product has changed to become more user friendly for my purposes. The advantage is that I can use the Accountant download/upload feature and the auditors are familiar and streamlines the audit process (this usually translates into a cheaper cost for conduction the Audit)

Pros

I have used SAGE products in the past. There have been some improvements over the years that make the software more user friendly. Note that I am a casual user that uses the base accounting of the program

Cons

My work is for First Nations that have a Limited Partnership Corporate setup. I find the linked accounts for taxation are not applicable for Tax-free First Nations applications and it is awkward to amend linked accounts to better streamline accounting for First Nations the are tax exempt.

### "Great software for the construction industry"

December 25, 2024

5.0

I am extremely pleased with all the construction software combined. We were able to downsize the different programs we used and integrate everything into basically one system.

Pros

The software was user friendly. When I first used Sage years ago, it was brand new on the construction scene but it by far blew the software we were using away. It seems to have gotten better with age.

Cons

Initial setup was not as smooth as I feel it should have been. The reports are great however, customizing certain items specifically rails for us. We just run several reports and get the numbers anyway.
