Pros

Easy to use, friendly interface with custom view Flexible reports in multiple forms (datasheet, pdf, document, etc.) Compatible with SAGE Contractor

Cons

Too many columns, convoluted and unnecessary Material waste check box should be set as default value of CHECKED, or remove completely to avoid missed calculation on waste Need add more columns for add-on breakdown (OH&P, tax)

Pros

We have found this construction accounting to be extremely adaptable to many levels of detail depending on what we need. I can customize reports to show exactly what I need in any given situation.

Cons

The rare occasion that I cannot edit a previous entry when an error is discovered. The need for reversing entries as opposed to editing an entry can sometimes lead to multiple entries that just clutter up my reporting.

Reporting is relatively easy once you have done the set-up. Able to export to excel for outside users such as auditors is helpful.

Pros

Input is quick and easy. It has been around long enough that most bugs are sorted out unlike some software. Once you learn some of the tricks/shortcuts it is even easier.Updates are frequent and the help desk resolves issues quickly. Able to customize reports.

Cons

Like most software it takes some time to setup. Customizing to your business is a feature but then you need to learn to us crystal in order to make updates. Closing month in one module doesn't always update or close the others.

Pros

Job costing is great. I like the fact that the costs are accurately reflected in the cost codes. The estimating portion allows for really comprehensive takeoffs.

Cons

The report writer is really poor. I need the ability to run Cash Basis reports. My accountant is trying very hard to get me to switch to Quick Books because of the reports I bring him at the end of the year. Some tasks could be automated to save time.

Pros

Customer support is excellent which I think their asset among other software companies, representatives are friendly and knowledgeable with their product.

Cons

They aren't perfect but not disappointing either, the user interface is not very easy to work with and there are minor lagging on the software because of its complex features.

Pros

I have used this product when it was Timberline with two other companies I worked for in the past with one being a nationwide home building and the other a mid-range commercial contractor. Then when I went out on my own seven years ago it was the first thing I looked at for it's easy of use for my employees and it gave us everything we needed.

Cons

So far, I haven't found anything that I have not liked.

Good useful product. Needs a few bugs worked out. Good value for the right client.

Pros

Great overall package. Relatively short learning curve. Covers all the fundamental needs of a complex industry.

Cons

Excel importation needs some improvement. Integration into spreadsheets has repeatedly inexplicable errors in cell separation. Not hard to fix but needs some debugging to get 5 stars.

What I like about Sage is there are lots of functions that I can use, it has everything I ever need. Their customer service is also great, whenever I call, the representatives are always friendly and helpful.

Cons

It's a bit expensive but atleast we get the most out of it but aside from that, it's a good software overall.

Overall we have been very please with Corecon and their customer support. The product works well.

Pros

The customer support is top notch. There are a ton of tutorials and weekly webinars and also the availability to purchase one on one support. There is a lot of versatility to make it fit your company needs and is one of the few construction project management type software products available for smaller companies.

Cons

Not especially intuitive to use. Set up is lengthy and can be complicated.

Pros

I like how easy it is to get information if needed with help support and the software is very efficient to work with. It is very easy to get to the menu and the menu is very helpful to go to the place where I need to be.

Cons

There is not much to say about the dislikes of this program. It has everything that I need and customer support is always right there when I need them and very helpful.

We bought Sage and used it for a month to see if we liked the product. What we found is that Sage did not fit with our business needs. The main issue was that we could not search our inventory with more than one keyword, which is a huge deal when you carry 24 different kinds of "cup." We also had an issue of adding customers and searching customers who have the same name. We currently have a system that assigns account numbers to each customer. Customer Service recommended that we save each customer under their name rather than a customer number since you can only search customers based on one criteria. The issue however, is we have several businesses with the same name, just different owners/addresses. The main issue was the lack of search functionality. For this reason, we did not switch over to Sage.

As an estimator, I use Timberline to estimate projects with value of $1M+. The platform is very user friendly. I can perform quick takeoff or more detailed item takeoff with just a click of a mouse. The autosave mode ensures that my work is saved every five minutes minimizing the risk of losing the data. The extended version of the software came with a sample database that we customized for the needs of our company. The reports function is absolutely amazing as it allows me to send the estimates to customers, project managers, superintendents, and fellow estimators for cross checking by just selecting the items that they want to see. It saves me plenty of time! I would highly recommend Sage Estimating (Timberline) to companies that are looking for an efficient estimating tool.

I have used the SAGE Project Management module in the past an was not overly impressed. We switched to Procore and it has been better. the SAGE accounting integration with Procore has been good. I am glad to see they are working to improve the connections. I think from an accounting perspective it works well. We have used it for over 10 year.

Pros

I like they are integrating and have partnered with Procore. This is making a use from operations easier.

Cons

The interface is clunky at times. The current integrations with Procore are good, but still have some items that don't sync well.

Pros

It is an integrated ERP software that is fairly robust and reliable.

Cons

It's definitely not web enabled. They have meant to be bringing something out for awhile but are one of the entrenched box software providers and are getting left far behind. There's no cloud version (apart from a citrix delivery) and no 3rd party app store where you can easily plug and play different add ons.

Pros

I like the way you can get a report of about anything you want. If you can't find exactly what you are looking for, you can always design your own report pulling whatever fields you need. I also like that you get all the tax updates and form updates each year. It helps to easily stay on top of tax reporting.

Cons

The yearly maintenance fee to keep the updates is quite expensive.

Pros

It is user-friendly and links all jobs aspects together. Whenever I have an issue I can call or go online and get help. I like that the Sage knowledge people are always friendly and can take control of my system and fix my problem. I can look at any aspect of a job to determine costs by account.

Cons

Querying invoices. I know it is there but have difficulty finding where to do.

Never ever buy this, or wait for a few years hoping for improvement.

Cons

Takes too long to submit RFI, Submittal. Process is very complicated. Tracking of anything is barely impossible. Expediting log shall be checked off manually. It is not enough to attach file: you have to upload, and make sure to check off the box in order to email. document numbering is manual- system does not do that. That means - good luck finding a certain submittal among a 1000 of them if you were not detail oriented while logging. Finally to compare, I am able to submit well tracked and easy to find item with 3 clicks with other software, and Sage takes 25 clicks with delays.

We have been using Sage 300 (timberline) for almost 12 years, and there have been no changes (for better or worse) since we got initially.

Pros

Sage (Timberline) saves a lot of time and paperwork for contractors to deal with change orders, submittals, RFIs, etc. Its accounting function is well designed for management of projects of construction and real estate.

Cons

Interface has not been changed from years, its still the same as it was 10-12 years back. The database is very primitive.

Sage Estimating can provide a detailed level of estimating analysis based on material and labour libraries that either come with the software or are custom defined by the end-user.

Cons

Creating a custom material library is a very involved process which costs a lot of time and money to establish.

Cons

The cost of adding modules, estimating, service, is high. They are very robust but directed at companies with larger budgets for such things

Sage estimating software allows companies and their individual users to literally make exactly the database that perfectly fits their needs. The only limitation is their ability to create tables, variables and formulas that will create the outcomes that they desire.

Pros

Total control, flexibility, and no "canned" locked in formating. Adding, changing and maneuvering existing data is made easy with "Database Manager".

Cons

The biggest con is the cost per user and the maintenance fee. Smaller companies can manage these cost with two or three estimators but larger world users such as cost consulting firms with large numbers of users find the initial investment and sustainability are over the top.

Pros

This product automatically saves after every key stroke, and the built-in formula's never make a mistake.

Cons

This software is often very slow to respond (drag and fill commands can take several minutes to complete, and trying to insert rows into an estimate can be tricky). There is also no quick or easy undo button in case the wrong command or key is pressed.
