Time is booked per client, project and task, and the same entry feeds the hour account, the project budget and the invoice. Project and employee time tracking run in one system: working time models, overtime balances, vacation and sick leave, and working time limits for Austria and Germany. Budgets are continuously compared with booked hours and costs, and invoices are created from the time entries. Unlike simple apps, time cockpit can be customized down to the data model: custom tables, fields, forms, permissions, reports and workflows. Every entity is available through a Web API (OData). Power BI and Excel connect directly, and single sign-on works with Microsoft Entra ID. Developed in Austria since 2010, hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU with a dedicated database per customer. Its the only app which gives my a clear view of my varied activities from which I feel confident billing. Pros Very accurate and easy-to read graphical record of computer time; allows you to make the decisions on billing without excess automated keyword-based assumptions, Easy base from which excel documents can be produced and interpreted / formatted as you wish. Alternatively they have their own basic built-in formatting for invoices, etc. which can be used. Cons It's flexibility and documentation, while understandable overall, is largely oriented towards programmer-level operators. It has all the bases covered to enable me to mine the genuinely billable hours out of a fractured work day. With simultaneous input from various tracked sources in a graphical calendar, it is very easy to retrace with confidence which time slots apply to which projects. None of the others compare. Without this capability, I found myself spending way too much time trying to reconstitute and verify the tracked information. Beyond this, I also have to say that the technical guidance and support I've received from Time Cockpit has been impressive; informed, pro-active, and friendly - very helpful. My favourite features are the activity and application trackers. Those track all the open programs and window titles of your PC, so you don't have to make a thought about time tracking while doing your work. You can reconstruct the things you've done afterwards. As an option the software helps you to remember what you've done (by tracking used programs, files, networks, etc.) - a very useful feature for us. time cockpit is also completely customizable, we've extended it in some parts so that it perfectly fulfills our needs.
