It eliminates the need for a detailed communication log. I can access, take notes, and share files from any location. To be honest, it made my life easier. Evernote has served as my organizer, albeit in digital form. Pros This is the only tool I require to keep track of everything, including notes, to-do lists, and files. I love how useful it is for organizing my thoughts. There's a spot for everything, whether it's notes, pictures, or PDFs. At other times, it's hard to remember a time before Evernote. In over the decade plus, who knows how many other note taking apps and websites came to be and while I've tried more than a few of them out, I always keep coming back to Evernote. From the myriad of different types of notes you can create, searching within those notes, and sharing and collaboration, this is an old but good note taking app. Pros They integrate well with practically every other software. Whether it be the phone app, desktop version, or Google chrome browser extension, it's easy to create notes, search them, tag them, categorize them, and share them internally for collaboration or externally for review. Cons Their PDF annotation feature is a bit weak, and reminds me a lot of their once up a time spin off app Skitch, for anybody that remembers that. Reason for choosing Evernote Teams I have flirted with leaving Evernote many times over the years - and not because they did something wrong - but because a new note taking app would come out and create a lot of noise and you get caught up in it. Scanning (backing up) documents is super easy (e.g., contract, proposals, etc.). The app not only zooms into the document easily, it also does OCR and converts it with formatting that is easy to the eyes, and saved right into a notebook. Business uses Teams for easy office and project collaboration. It's easy to share notes/notebooks and to edit the same items collaboratively. Projects also takes advantage of task management and setting of reminders to individuals. Lastly, I love the Templates! There are a lot of professionally made (and free) templates created by Evernote. And, we can also make our own company standard templates for everyone to use and follow (by policy). Cons Just a little formatting concern for me when using a (small screen) smartphone... the bullets/numbering moves the cursor far right, taking much screen real estate. Also, I would really like it if the green top bar would disappear when the note is scrolled down. That would really take full use of the entire screen (similar to how Google docs works). Pros Evernote Teams is an excellent note taking platform, especially for teams. It has a great feature that allows for easy sharing of notes with others, ensuring everyone stays on the same page. Additionally, it allows users to organize their notes into notebooks and tags, making it easier to locate what they need. If there is some particular use case you are looking for, there is a good chance that they have it built in. The main reason I tried Evernote Business, however, is because I was looking for a essentially a place I could dump all of the digital cruft I perpetually struggle with organizing. I like the idea of having a digital junk drawer where I can feel good about storing everything. Cons I tried for a long time--several years--to love this software. I really did. But for some reason it always felt like an uphill battle to figure out its ins and outs and organization in a way that isn't present with other software. For one, I work on a Mac, and the software has never really felt like a native Mac app to me. I thought for a long time that it was me, that I just hadn't really put in the time to figure out and commit to the organizational structure of tags, and Notebooks, etc. But at some point I gave up on that explanation, given that I'm a pretty tech savvy guy who routinely learns new software and services. Evernote's main strength--that it has a ton of functionality and serves as a landing ground for all of your digital cruft--for me ultimately ended up being it's main weakness, in that I never felt it was able to wrangle all of this complexity in an intuitive and usable way. Pros In my line of work, i used notes a lot and Evernote is the best software that i have use to managing and storing all my notes on single place. It has extension on Google Chrome that i have use it to snipping article from website and save it to the program for my future reference. Cons There are time when this software is very slow in saving and synchronized all of my files to the cloud service. I had to wait for quite a time for it to start showing the latest data on the other device that i use. There are also no option to delete the notes in batch, and had to do it manually one by one. This means if I upload a mock up, my team can all instantly see it, edit it, brain storm and dream about it. Which moves us onto the next phase of drafting it, then printing, all the way to completion. It allows my team to preview drafts of my multimedia and immediately provide feedback to the whole team where we can communicate as if we were all together. Pros Evernote Business has been a necessity for my media and communications team to be able to create a space to stay organized, share thoughts, brain storm, and move a project all the way to completion. The fact that the whole team can stay up to date and that the information can sync across all of my devices is something that I can't no longer work without now that I have had it. Cons The biggest trouble I have had with Evernote is its formatting of text. Although it is perfect and beautiful within Evernote, once I copy and paste it to any other software (word, adobe, etc.) it does not translate and the formatting is all over the place. Returns and indents where there should be and so one. I always have to clear the formatting and do that part of the work again. Pros My favorite thing about Evernote is the multiple options it allows users to save sources, webpages, notes, images--all across multiple platforms, such as smartphones, web browsers, and your desktop. I find this to be so helpful because I do not need to waste time or get distracted going to an external program to save a source I find online--I simply click the evernote browser icon and it saves the page for me. Later, I can go to organize all the sources by categories and tags. Cons I have found the sharing feature of Evernote to often have small glitches, and be a bit unreliable. For example, I save some notes to my phone, then sync the app to my computer. Later, I go to check the notes on my computer and they have not synced. I contacted support and they assured me I just need to sync my phone again, which worked. Additionally, I wish evernote had stronger features for sharing sources/notes/etc. with other users. It have enhanced UI that supports the sophisticated logics for maintaining the collaboration of users on the single task as a ticket and narrow down the timeline for the deliverables. It can be used by small companies that support Agile or Scrum methodology. It is also highly affordable, and they do have a strong presence in market since long. We've adopted a robust note system that helps keep our meetings punchy and to the point. I have been an Evernote user for a long time, and the benefits of a concise note taking app have been immense for me and my (sometimes disorganized) team. Cons Evernote is not widely adopted throughout my organization. While we use it with great success, we're often moving information from one place to another so everyone who wants access can access. Syncs across devices (relatively) seamlessly, though there have been times where this was not the case and updates have gone missing. Cons Silly issues with formatting and/or pasting external content. Every time I need to transfer content over from an external software (i.e. Google drive, word, Apple Notes, basically anything) the formatting gets completely screwed up and nothing is maintained in Evernote. Likewise, when copying and pasting data from Evernote in to other softwares, the same issues persists. When pasting a note into an email for instance, all of the bullets, spacing and paragraphs need to be completely redone. In my mind this really defeats the purpose of the tool entirely. On another note, the search functionality is poor. Obviously everything pales in comparison to Google drive searches, but I find Evernote's to be particularly lacking and it is difficult to seek out specific lines of text =. Oh yeah, it also syncs between my devices -- so if I write something at work that I need to pull up at home, no worries! Oh yeah, Evernote has quite powerful organization. Organize by creating a zillion notebooks for every possible sphere of your life, OR keep fewer notebooks and organize by tags. Brilliant. Oh yeah, it also has the ability to keep all sorts of content -- attachments, images, text, audio, stuff clipped from the web, you name it. Oh yeah, for writers... I've used Evernote quite a bit as a minimalist word processor, especially when I want to write in the coffee shop on my laptop, then come home and find that my document is waiting for me on my desktop. What's not to love? Cons Here's what's not to love: the freemium pricing model. While I LOVE the fact that I can use Evernote for free, I truly wish I could just pay a onetime fee instead of a monthly/yearly subscription.
