Netlify Reviews
Pros
Option of just dragging and dropping your files is great too. The continuous integration with GitHub is also super great.
The starting price is also free so you can deploy your multiple projects for free and have a custom domain, these are features I really enjoy, just simplicity at its best.
Also, Netlify has some inbuilt features like forms and submissions which make it a good choice. Also, other features like analytics and functions is a nice feature.
Super easy deploy through Github repos. Good support that is quick to respond and provides detailed help.
Cons
One thing I hate about Netlify is that sometimes their CDN becomes slow so the sites load slowly.
There are problems with deployment of angular projects. Accessing an angular project from a route which is not the default breaks the app.
I thought I had done something wrong, but as soon as I switched over to Firebase, it completely fixed the issue and I won't be going back to Netlify because of this reason.
If you pull the wrong repo in, you can’t fix it or remove it. So you end up with multiple sites that are nearly the same.
"Easy Jamstack Platform-as-a-Service"
Overall: On the whole using Netlify has been seamless. We use it to host some static sites and documentation, and being able to fire-and-forget the deploys for these less-critical sites has made me and our other developers incredibly happy as we can focus on building our main product instead of fiddling with build processes for documentation sites.
Pros: Their free plan is extremely generous, allowing us to host simple documentation sites and static pages for some of our less critical services. They also make deployment an absolute breeze, the platform usually scans the repo, detects our framework of choice and can single-click deploy the site. It's never been easier than that.
Cons: The time limits on serverless functions are quite restrictive, anything taking longer than 10s is usually terminated. If you're on a Pro plan, this can be increased to 26s but even that is quite restrictive compared to simply pro-rating the run time of the function with no or a configurable limit.
"Super user friendly!"
Pros: Very easy sign-up process and getting a functioning app running! Couldn't believe how little effort it took to get exactly what I needed -- a link to my application that I can embed elsewhere for users to access. I tried Vercel first, and they made the sign-up process complicated. After verifying my email already, they told me I needed further verification. Netlify made it so much simpler!
Cons: Nothing negative to say about Netlify! Working well for me.
"One of the worst customer experiences I've ever had"
Overall: They blocked my account because I clicked on the wrong sign up method and asked me to verify. I didn't have time to complete the whole process so their response to that was to block me. I could no longer do the verification process and when accessing their customer support page the first thing that pops up is the chat -- which you can only access if you are logged in. Rage inducing. Later I found there is a secret contact form below the fold on that page. Then I get an automated message from my support request saying that I need to provide screenshots of the error, slowing this whole process down even further. Still haven't resolved this, but I think it's important to let people know they should avoid Netlify at all costs.
Pros: I didn't like anything bout Netlify... ☹️
Cons: One of the worst customer experiences I've ever had.
"The perfect choice for web hosting"
Pros: I have moved all my websites to Netlify due to the easy deployment and the easy management with domains etc. Would recommend it to everyone!
Cons: It was a bit slow to connect my domains but can't complain, it's awesome
"Easiest Way To Host JAMstack Websites"
Overall: Overall Netlify is a great option for anyone who is looking to host a JAMstack website. Plus they have a very generous free plan.
Pros: I liked how easy it is to integrate with GitHub and GitLab. Also, Netlify has some inbuilt features like forms and submissions which make it a good choice. Also, other features like analytics and functions is a nice feature.
Cons: One thing I hate about Netlify is that sometimes their CDN becomes slow so the sites load slowly.
