I own a summertime ice cream shop. After 4 months of dealing with daily crashes, bugs, customer support that doesn't do anything except tell you to restart your system, did I mention crashes and bugs?, and never having the secure knowledge that this software was actually working, I'm happily ending my use of Talech software. As I'm leaving, I wanted to get a report of all the items we sold in 4 months of being open for business. Guess what? You can't. The Talech reports only allow you to look at 20 items at once. This means, if you sell 5 t-shirts styles and there are 5 sizes for each style, you can't see one report of the t-shirts you sold yesterday. Now, there is a workaround they'll tell you -- you "simply" click 20 items, save them to a spreadsheet, unclick those 20 items, click 20 new items, save them to a spreadsheet, unclick... you get the point. Did I mention that each time you click or unclick an item, it reloads your screen? And when it reloads your screen, it seemingly randomizes the locations of your items. So you can't even just go down the list of items sold clicking and unclicking, because the list changes constantly. This is a clear case of let's bring a product to market before it is ready. And charge $50 a month. For what? For software that crashes every day (I'm not kidding -- every employee had to learn the protocol for dealing with the crashes) and won't give you the reports you need to run your business. I didn't have any issues with Elavon. I've been with them longer than Talech. And yet, I'm so annoyed with the Talech software that I'm leaving Elavon as well. Going to start fresh next season.

Pros

When it wasn't being overrun with bugs, the register layout was decent. I like being able to color code menu items.

Cons

Everything. Completely unfinished, garbage program. It never actually worked -- constant crashes and bugs.

Elavon suggested using Talech. What a mistake. Running Maitre'D on Windows '97 worked better!

Pros

Used to be good before they updated the software and now it hasnt worked right in over a year and noone cares to help.

Cons

Worst company to deal with now. They used to be good when they had a different software but then they switched to new software before eliminating bugs and incomplete functionality. You cant even calculate your taxes for year end and I have been asking for this for a YEAR. Dont waste your time or money with these guys!!!

MISERABLE, NON EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLE. ONCE THEY HAVE THE "SALE" YOU BECOME INVISIBLE TO THEM. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS. NEVER RECEIVED CALLS BACK, WRONG EQUIPMENT SENT. I COULD TALK ABOUT THE HORRIBLE SERVICE FOR HOURS

Pros

Easy to use. Reports. The report part of their system is fairly easy to navigate.

Cons

Customer service is non existent. Tried for 2 1/2 months to get an answer regarding open tabs for my Talech system. NEVER got a call back from my rep. Then he told me his computer went down. Not sure why his phone did not work! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN 40+ YEARS OF BUSINESS EXPERIENCE. DO NOT USE THEM! YOU WILL NOT GET CALLS BACK AND THEY TRY TO SAY IT WAS AN ELAVON ISSUE! ELAVON THROWS IT BACK ON TALECH. IT'S LIKE A DOG CHASING HIS TAIL. EVEN WHEN YOU REACH OUT TO MANAGEMENT, THEY DO NOT CALL BACK. BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME TO DEAL WITH! RUN AWAY FROM THEM. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.....

Unfortunately I was forced into using this system. From the moment I unboxed it, we’ve had nothing but problems. The initial set up was supposed to be plug & play. Not so. Our onboarding specialist failed to tell me we needed a minimum WiFi speed for the system to even work. No one could figure out why the system couldn’t communicate. After talking to 10 different reps we were finally able to get someone that asked about our internet speed. I ended up having to triple our speed just to be able to use the product. Reporting constantly glitches. I have to have our servers go through their cash vs credit cards tips nightly to make sure their end of night deposit is accurate. We’ve had it off by hundreds of dollars, which either costs the restaurant money or the server money depending on which way the deposit is off. For more than 6 months, during the busiest gift card time of the year, you could not sell more than one gift card per transaction. Talech didn’t seem to care about this issue but it cost my business thousands of dollars in lost revenue because of the glitch. Printers are constantly dropping offline, so you have to go reset them & enter them back in the back office on talech. Talech just updated their online reporting to a new experience. Problem is, the sales data doesn’t match the “classic” sales data. How can you have two different total sales figures just by switching between “classic” and “new”? Bottom line, if you’re thinking of switching to this as a restaurant POS, take my advice and DON’T DO IT. You will have more headaches than it’s worth, your financial data will be off, and half the time you won’t be able to sell a product because of some weird glitch in their system that they’re in no hurry to fix.

Pros

Nothing. There is not one single thing that is good about this system

Cons

Everything. Reporting is off, system constantly glitches.

Frustrating Frustrating... over the years, they are slow to fix any software issues.

Pros

Easy to use for entering orders and update product screens

Cons

After 9 years of being a customer the latest software issue is causing major issues with our restaurant.. custom order request line items appear on every line item from previous ticket.. after waiting 3 weeks for a fix, Customer Service told us it was a "Low Priority" for them and have no timeline when it will be fixed. This slows the order process and creates so many issues for the kitchen, customers, and servers. Also forced us to switch and use their inhouse credit card processing and gift card services in 2022

Reasons for choosing talech

Seemed the most reasonable priced with the most features we needed

We don’t normally write a bad review but we got really bad experience with Elavon as well as Talech! We took over the restaurant for 3 months and started to use Elavon service, everything went well at the beginning. Till last 3 weeks, I have received a call from Elavon and said there was two accounts opened under my name and they offered to close one of the account for me to avoid additional charge. Few days after that, without any care from their employees, all of the accounts under my name were locked while the business is still operating and caused us into troubles. I have reached out to Customer Care and requested to get our accounts re-opened, then we got the issues with the gift cards payment. I ended up to contact customer service again and received a case number. In order to get the issues resolved faster, I even have reached out to Manager and asked for help, he did help by sending us over a new terminal just for the gift card purposes. After a few days, the new terminal was sent over, it still didn’t work. I reached out to Manager and customer service again. Elavon & Talech kept blaming each other and the gift card issues still here. It’s been almost 3 weeks waiting in hopeless, we got lots of customers upset and this also hurts our business a lot. I couldn’t believe a big company like Elavon will handle customers issues without care & without professionalism like this. Still believe there are many other organizations out there will offer better service than Elavon & Talech!

Pros

Reasonable pricing, customer service is okay

Cons

Slow service and taking too much time to handle customers issues

Absolutely no support. We have never had not one of the issues we have called about resolved. And they never call back even though every person says they will.

It used to run on an iPad I could take anywhere in the shop

Cons

The hours and hours trying to get issues resolved with customer support that knowledge of the product.

Reasons for choosing talech

Because it was supposed to be able to pull inventory from our web page when it was sold in the shop. But after installing it and and a month of setting it up they told us that feature would not be available.
