Cons: The cost is higher than other software we have used in the past and account management doesn't reflect value.

Pros: As an HRIS Namely is as good as it gets. After using many other platforms in the past, I can say that Namely provides an easy to use platform that works out of the box but offers a great deal of customization to fit your workflows. They are constantly releasing new features and improvements that are visible and useful with a support staff that is always ready to help.

Having HRIS, Payroll and Benefits in one place and dedicated client rep and dedicated benefits rep is definetely hard to beat.

Cons: Integration between payroll and HRIS is a work in progress that still needs work. I am confident they will continue to improve it moving forward.

Pros: Namely provides the functionality we need and partners with you on solutions versus just telling "we can't do that." Their open API capability has allowed us to integrate our other system solutions; and, the user experience on the admin and employee side is excellent.

Cons: All platforms have their quirks. We don't have any complaints about Namely. They work with you to provide you solutions you need. They also listen to their clients' feedback and incorporate it into their product updates.

Comments: Overall, it's a great HRIS, and a great company. Namely is constantly updating the system and releasing new features. The support team is top notch and is always happy to help in anyway they can. Namely may be missing some features or some may need to be updated, but the interfaces and the support plus the fact that they are dedicated to releasing features that are requested really make it a top HRIS system.

Pros: Easy to use for Employees, Managers, and Admins. The interfaces are elegant, clean, and very intuitive. The ability to automate tasks or delegate tasks that used to be a burden has freed up time for Managers and HR admins. Having everything all in one creates an easy experience for our employees. The ability to use the Open API allowed us to automate our employee data flow out to different parts of the company and keep our systems all in sync.

Cons: Missing some features you might get from an older HRIS, Payroll, or Benefit system. While the time feature allows a lot of customization, it can be burdensome to use and navigate.

Pros: Namely has been a huge help with our startup, particularly in streamlining all processes in one place. Having a dedicated Accounts Manager and Benefits Manager provides resources that assist across the spectrum. Accessibility and support are a outstanding.

Cons: As with anything, there are hiccups, such as importation of employee payroll from another product to Namely, but the good news is that the folks at Namely always work hard to get through those challenges, take the issues under advisement, and work toward solutions.

Pros: It's crazy how an app that's so simple can become so cumbersome! All the fun features like giving awards/compliments become moot because people avoid using it, it doesn't make reviews helpful at all, most people see 360 reviews as a chore and this app doesn't make it any better.

Cons: I think some tome of reward system, fun reminders, and other ways to boost engagement could benefit this application. Performance reviews are hardly fun, so you need to curb behavior by making it less painful, not just add on to the same pains of having to fill essays upon essays saying barely anything useful about your coworkers.

Comments: Implementing Namely is the best HR decision our small company has made. We have a small administrative team and I am new to HR. Namely has provided us with a huge opportunity to start out with great employee compliance, structure, and utilization of forward thinking technology.

Pros: It's inclusivity of employee information; it's features save time and help with company compliance. It helps new employees have a platform when working remotely, and helps HR keep up with remote employees. Namely is always adding new features based on client feedback and everyone at Namely is a pleasure to work with.

Cons: The timesheets aren't my favorite, but they get the job done and do offer a few different options. Namely is working on improvements to the things I dislike about them.

Comments: They took on our benefits brokerage services in the middle of a renewal season when we were struggling with an unreliable broker we've had for years. They came in and negotiated down rates for us, set up new plans, working with our insurance carriers and got us everything ready in time for open enrollment. Unbelievable effort - Namely hires outstanding talent and their benefits team works wonders!

Pros: Aside from having every tool an HR/Payroll dept needs integrated and working together, the best part about Namely is their customer service. Each client has an individual client partner instead of an 800 number and a case ID. That's made all the difference - instead of going thru prompts and re-describing the problem to a different CSR each time you call in, your partner knows you and your company and always responds quickly. Outstanding customer focus!

Cons: Nothing, they're exactly what we were looking for and more. If I were looking for a new system, I would implement Namely again.

Pros: Easy to use platform that is intuitive out of the "box", yet customization to the needs of the business and HR Team. The news feed is a great way to add transparency to your communication efforts throughout the business and is easily recognizable from a social media perspective. The data is captured and maintained effectively and it is one of the easiest payroll experiences I have had.

Cons: They are still working on integrating the HR and Payroll side of the product. They are a doing a great job getting there, but it is something to be aware of.

Pros: The clean and easy-to-use interface helps me in onboarding, payroll, etc. and reduces the need to always work through software with employees (plus, there are training resources for basic tasks). The payroll module is straight-forward and easy to use - I spend minimal time running payroll, and if there is an issue, Namely is quick to respond. The customer service I've received has been top notch - we have one point of contact for HR/payroll and they help get answers when needed. We also use their benefits which helps simplify things as well (and great customer service there too!).

Cons: No major complaints - sometimes there are very (very) specific features we're interested in - there's often work-arounds or it is on the list of potential adds. The performance management module is very customizable and is included - but still could use a little work to be on par with stand-alone performance management products (but is still an excellent product!).

Pros: The pros about Namely is the ability to easily request time off and track your PTO. It also provides a centralized location to view your benefits, paystubs, employee news, etc. Slick interface and easy to use.

Cons: Namely does everything well except track employee time. We couldn't use it to track out hourly workers time in and out which would have been a benefit and is like the one thing it's lacking. Maybe it's there but we never found it.

Comments: For instance they took over sending a file for our 401K transfer amount to Voya. The total was suppose to be around 2000 but they instead transferred 17000 into employees 401K accounts. It was a mess to fix and they didn't even seem remorseful. That is just one of MANY issues.

Pros: Honestly Nothing. The look of it I guess is nice but that's about it. They have you take hours of training when you start and its not helpful at all.

Cons: Everything they've tried to "take over" they've screwed up. Not worth the money in my eyes. I don't trust anything they've done and their customer service is not very good either. For instance my 'rep' got married and went out of town for 3 weeks and didn't even tell me or put me in touch with someone to help with any issues. I've worked with a lot of HRIS systems (I am an HR consultant) and Namely just doesn't make sense. Its extremely confusing.

Pros: *Great way to integrate an HRIS system and payroll on one platform. *Simple and easy interface for users. Very similar to Facebook in design and functionality. *Lots of great workflows to utilize to eliminate pen and paper documents. *Namely did fully refund us our money after our implementation was handled very poorly.

Cons: Phew, my boss and I had problems with our Namely implementation from the beginning. It seems that the company was undergoing a lot of turnover and restructuring during our implementation, and we felt it. There would be weeks when we would hear no communication from our lead implementation specialist. My boss thought he had quit or had been let go and had to write a strongly worded email before we got a response back. Our Namely benefits specialist then made an error with an algorithm she was using to calculate benefits costs during our open enrollment in November. If hadn't caught the error, our company would have lost thousands of dollars. We have had numerous issues with payroll since open enrollment and have cycled through several specialists since. Last week, my boss and I decided we have had enough and are moving to another HRIS system.

Pros: I love that benefit elections are synced to payroll. Before Namely, this was a huge manual effort to maintain and audit. Namely is engaging and simple for employees to use - I get frequent positive feedback on that, across our staff demographics. People also really like the activity feed to give appreciative shout-outs to coworkers. As an admin, Namely's flexible permissions are a huge plus - this is something I've missed with other cloud software my company uses.

Cons: The Time Off functionality is a bit simplistic. I'd also like to see more configurable, custom notifications.

Pros: Namely is user friendly, promotes employee engagement, has a 'facebook' feel to it and helps the company vibe. From an HRIS perspective, it is highly customizable and offers employees self service features around banking and benefits that are fantastic!

Overall: We were living in desparate systems. Namely allowed us to get everything from paryroll to benefits and performance management under one piece of technology. Pros: Namely HRIS is a fantastic program, layout, very easy to use. The integration process was great and our implementation manager for Namely HRIS was fantastic.

Cons: Namely time is very basic and hard to use. The scheduling feature is very basic and time consuming. In addition, the integration between the Namely systems don't exist at all. Simple information needs to be entered into both systems and the integration capabilities are very basic. Switching to this system was supposed to cut down on every day HR/admin work, however, now she just spends her time making the programs match. Basic integrations like making an employee inactive doesn't even exist, you have to do it first in Namely HRIS then go to Namely Time and do it again. For employee hours to feed back into Namely HRIS, you have to pull a report out of Namely Time and import it back into Namely HRIS. I was promised seamless integration by our sales rep and I feel very mislead. The Namely HRIS application is completely different from the Namely Time application and it's different sign-ons.

Pros: I like Namely because it is so simple to navigate. Our old HR software was clunky and badly organized. As an employee, I only ever need to check this sort of thing on occasion, and there are a few specific things I look for when I do, like paystubs. I want those things to be easy to find so I can get in and out as fast as possible. Namely makes that easy.

Cons: There are some features that just don't seem necessary for an HR software, like a social feed, performance reviews, and task management. We have plenty of other softwares that accomplish those functions, but I'm sure other teams could get good use out of them.

Comments: I would avoid the service. I have moved on to Gusto and found that the system is easy to use and thus far has not had any glitches.

Pros: Navigation: The navigation menu is stunningly simple, which is a breath of fresh air compared to other services like Zenefits. All navigation options are listed in a nice column on the left hand side; no confusion.

Service Offerings: What has been really nice with Namely so far is that we no longer need to use a separate HR service or a separate paystub tracking service. We have effectively ceased using ADP and Zenefits in favor of Namely. I'm all for software simplification and Namely does just that.

Cons: UI/UX: If I'm being honest, I'm not sure I like the UI/UX. It looks like a re-skinned and scaled back version of LinkedIn. I also highly dislike the twitter-style news feed as soon as you login. I don't need or want more channels of internal communication.

Not much going on: Namely simply has little going on. If I dont need to request PTO, see the holiday calendar, or review my paystub, I have zero reason to login and use Namely. Perhaps it is just better that way, but Namely does little to encourage me to login and actually use the service. It feels more like a checkbox service where we have and use it to check a checkbox for company needs.

Sensitive Info: The Namely administrator can make certain sensitive information available for all to see, such as birthdays, personal phone number, or personal address. Day 1 of using Namely we had a lot of this information available for everyone to see, but it has since been restricted.

Pros: We recently implemented Namely and it's been a welcome addition! Making benefit elections was a breeze. Managing time off is very simple and easy to track for managers and employees alike. We've also moved our quarterly MBOs from google sheets to Namely.

Pros: Namely is fairly intuitive. Most employees have not needed much in the way of training or tutorials and they like the eases of use and the user interface. It can be customized fairly well and the team and account reps are always available to help. I also love how it integrates so many HR functions under one roof and all are done well.

Cons: One minor drawbacks on time off reports is you cannot run a report to see vacation balances as of a certain day in the past (or future) - it is only current. Also, navigating is a bit clunkier than I'd like - there are no dynamic searches and you cannot jump from a Teams page for one employee to a Teams page for another employee with one click.

Pros: Client Support Specialist, they don't disappear after implementation. In fact, I connect very regularly with our specialist and we've developed a great relationship.

Cons: Some limitations based on our specific requests/needs but they are always listening and making adjustments in response to client feedback. It does not fall on deaf ears.

Pros: I work almost exclusively on the payroll sides of Namely, and I've found it to be user friendly and super intuitive. The easily accessible training videos are fantastic and great when you find yourself asking, "How do I do that again?" My favorite part is the easy navigation!

Cons: I can't say that I actively dislike anything. I think because I'm still learning the software there are going to sections that I don't know how to work as efficiently. IE: I'm hoping there's a way to link our 401k directly in, so that when users make individual changes through the fidelity portal it automatically update (like other benefits sections do). Not sure if that's possible?

Overall: Peace of mind. Ease/Accessibility. Confidence in the accuracy of our payroll.

Pros: There is a dedicated team behind it to make sure that we're getting the most possible use out of it at all times.

Overall: Almost all of our HR needs are centralized in one system with a great support team behind it

Pros: Namely provides a one stop shop for all employee related items (payroll, benefits, HRIS, time tracking, onboarding). It has been a great tool for us and has saved us a lot of time. It is easy to you and a clean interface on both the administration and employee side.

Cons: There have been a few issues with integration with different carriers and software but Namely is working to make sure that everything is talking to each other.

Pros: ser friendly. Easy to navigate through the website and very easy to run custom reports in the HRIS side. We are also utilizing their on-boarding, performance management and benefits enrollment features to save the company time as well as to reduce paperwork.

Cons: Biggest concern is that the Payroll module is as robust as Namely claims it to be. The report writer is limited and there are manual double entries that you need to do to if you are tracking PTO as well as other information using their HRIS module. We ended up purchasing their Namely Time module because the web-clock and PTO Tracking in their HRIS module is very limited; the web-clock is unable to round worked hours as we track employee hours worked in 15 minute increments and PTO Tracking was not accruing the correct amount of sick and vacation balance for the employees which caused us to manually track PTO for 6 months on a spreadsheet. Even with the Namely Time module, it does not fully integrate with Namely Payroll, therefore, all accrued vacation and sick balances does not feed over and we are not able to show the accrued balances on employees¿ pay-stubs which is required by law in California. We have NOT been in compliance for over 10 MONTHS .

Overall: We are trying to minimize paper clutter and store information digitally which is one of the reasons why we chose Namely. On-boarding process is much more automated as you can upload all required documents into a template and have new employees complete them using e-signature. Performance Management feature makes it very easy to keep track of everyone¿s progress and manage from the administrative side. Benefits Open Enrollment is now automated and employees will be accountable for making changes or selecting new coverage.

Pros: easy to use, complete, track reviews. Customizable enough to use for yearly reviews. Kinda cute that you can send "praise" and messages to your co-workers.

Cons: Pretty simplistic, in my opinion. It's bare bones, and while intuitive, only digitizes what could easily be accomplished with a paper form. I see the value in that, but that can be easily recreated. Maybe there's other modules we don't buy that are more advanced.

Pros: Clean look & easy to use (for admins & employees). Truly an all in one platform that makes HR's life much easier & more organized. My favorite features are: payroll (it's a breeze), onboarding (drastically improved new hire experience & internal document storage), benefits administration (easy to use for admin & employees). Constantly rolling out new products based on customer feedback! Amazing and kind support team that is always available by phone and email for questions!

Cons: Like any HRIS, it takes time and a dedicated HR individual or team to get it up and running because it's so customizable. The pay off is well worth it though!

Comments: Don't let your fear of change deter you from moving to a truly innovative and integrated solution.

Pros: Long list here. Everything in one place. Simple to access. Easy to use. Mobile. Integrated with several other key partners. FABULOUS customer service. Conversion is handled professionally, competently and quickly. Managers are delighted to be able to master the "dark arts" of goals, performance reviews, time off, resources and more. From the CEO out to every person at Namely, there's a vibe of energy, commitment and smarts. How refreshing.

Cons: Short list here. Like any innovative, new solution, there are features we users crave. The Namely product development team are fast and responsive. The product roadmap is shared with us. Oh, this was the cons list. Sorry. Done.

Pros: The central news feed is a great, social tool, especially useful for keeping everyone up-to-date. Some of the functions are fantastic - the onboarding, the performance tool, the time off function, and its very easy to customise some of the profile fields to your own requirements. Also, it will be great when the new reporting tool is rolled out, and you can do point in time reporting.

Cons: There are limitations in terms of some of the functions for non-US employees. For example, we can't track UK or Canadian expenses through Namely. Also, some of the recent changes have meant we have had to change our internal processes to fit, rather than having the flexibility to do it the other way round.

Pros: The ability to customize the system and tailor it to our unique culture. The newsfeed and birthday/work anniversary reminders are amazing!

Cons: How an employee PTO balance is reported in Namely. Currently, the PTO plan is set up so that each employee's PTO renews on their anniversary date. It's confusing and it is not the true available PTO balance.

Comments: The support team and onboarding tools are both fantastic. They've recently added a "goals" feature that we are just starting to use, so that is exciting. Overall, it's a great value for the price.

Pros: Great UI, compared to other HRIS products of similar cost. The internal support team is very responsive and helpful. There is a wide range of tools to choose from: onboarding, PTO, performance reviews, benefit portals, payroll, etc. I've found the onboarding feature very helpful, as new hires can start their HRIS profile, as well as read and agree to all new hire paperwork.

Cons: The API leaves some room for improvement, but I believe they are working to improve it. Also, the benefits portal works well, but the "electronic feed" to the insurance company hasn't worked for us. Well, it works, it just doesn't link accurate information. I believe they are working on that as well. The performance review reminders are not found in an intuitive manner, but the program itself is pretty easy to use once you know where to find things.

Wonderfully designed as well.

Pros: Ease of use and modern platform that is easily recognizable for employees and managers.

Cons: There needs to be more integration between the different modules (HR & Payroll), but this is something that is on their roadmap. I'm already seeing improvements after being in the software for a couple of months.

Overall: Namely provides a software package that covers the essential needs of any HR department, including HRIS, payroll and benefits administration. HRIS is easy to use and logical from both an administrator and self-service perspective. Payroll is quick to run and has one of the fastest processing times I've seen. Benefits just work. Lots of options to meet your needs from the benefits side with great transparency for employees to understand the total cost of benefits provided to them.

It's important to realize that Namely is a newer entrant to the HR software arena. You will not find the level of complexity and advanced options available through some of the larger legacy systems out there, but there is no software bloat in the Namely system either. The company is continually enhancing their products and provides updates on their software roadmap up to 18 months out, which I have never seen an HR software company do before. This level of transparency really helps to build confidence that this is a company that is open to feedback and acts quickly to ensure they are providing their clients with the best system out there.

Recommendations to other buyers: Understand that this is newer software and it is essential to voice your feedback. They are very responsive and will let you know upfront if your feedback/request is on their upcoming list of enhancements or not.

Comments: My company has a very complex payroll, including full-time, part-time, and variable hour employees. It has been a struggle getting payroll to be efficient, as I don't think the payroll portal was created to accommodate such an intricate, complex payroll set up like my company has. However, the HR portal has been fantastic to use and has helped our employees, located all over the US, feel more engaged with our headquarters and overall company mission. With the integration with TimeClock Plus, I believe the payroll issues will be worked out and the system will provide a highly rated overall experience.

It does have a few disconnects that you would otherwise not experience with other HRIS systems, however, hopeful these will be addressed in future roadmaps and upgrades.

Cons: Sometimes simple things weren't contemplated early enough in building out an HRIS system (e.g. 3 different direct deposit accounts (some people like auto debit from payrolls; state tax categories)

Overall: Namely has a great user experience from both the employee standpoint, as well as an admin in the system. You can capture as much data as you want and build custom categories which makes data collection robust and easy. The support team is responsive on all matters, despite the time zone differences. Overall a great product and big bang for the buck (with some minor roadmap additions).

Pros: The user interface and customization of HRIS data.

Cons: The integration between HRIS and payroll is still somewhat manual, and the reporting features are not as robust as they could be.

Overall: We have been with Namely for just about a year, and have had a pretty good experience. Their modern take on HR is what hooked us in the beginning, and they have been adding key features along the way. Their customer support is very responsive and knowledgable, yet the integration between HRIS and payroll is still somewhat manual. Comments: Overall, Namely is a great HRIS! It's nice to have your employee data, payroll, benefits and potentially your employee files all in one place. The ease of use is great, the UI is wonderful, and our account manager has been great to work with. However, the only downside we've had this far are implementation issues. The timecard system in Namely is a bit cumbersome (but they are working on a new release) and we did have communication issues during implementation (i.e things not getting done that we were told were being worked on.)

Pros: Ease of use, user experience.

Cons: Doesn't appear to be a lot of integration with HRIS and payroll - but it sounds like it's coming.

Comments: We recently upgraded our HR department to Namely. What a change! The employees are so excited to be able to see exactly where they stand (salary, PTO, benefits, reviews). The management team loves having a place to go to track everything. We are excited about this new direction....we feel we're on the leading edge now!

Pros: Namely, newsfeed has really had positive feedback from our employees. Love that we can have documents and HR information all in one place - the employee's profile.

Cons: The payroll side of things is not as easy to use as the HR side. They don't "talk" to each other as they should -- information doesn't roll over from HR to Payroll automatically - there are times when manual adjustments need to be made.

Overall: We implemented Namely HR and Payroll in September 2016. They have great customer support, account managers, and implementation teams. Very helpful and stay on top of to-do lists with weekly updates. The HR side and newsfeed have been a hit for our employees. They LOVE it. It is a great avenue for us to provide our remote locations insight on what our company is doing and a one-stop shop for employee information. The payroll side of things, however, isn't as user-friendly. We have a somewhat complicated payroll, due to the size of our company and multiple divisions, that we have come across some areas of improvement. We continue to work with Namely for system improvements that will maximize our efficiency and accuracy with payroll and benefits process, specifically integrations for time clocks and Cobra providers.

Comments: Our company recently had our HR rep change her availability to half time with the possibility that she would no longer be available to us in the near future. While exploring options, Namely became a great way to automate and track many of the things that she used to spend time doing. I have loved using the service so far! If I want to know what our insurance policy covers, Namely stores that information. If I want to change my benefits package in any way, Namely allows me to see the next time I'm eligible to do so and do it all online. This has been such an easy way to manage HR in a workforce that has many individuals away from the office or remote much of the time. It has reduced the amount of paper needed for many of our HR practices as well since most of these documents can be generated, signed, and stored online. Very easy to use and set up and I would recommend it to anyone!

Pros: Customizable; modern; streamlined

Cons: Ad hoc (sometimes it feels like new features or functionality is tacked on); inconsistent (sometimes, the product doesn't work as described)

Overall: I work for a nonprofit organization with more than 60 employees in over 20 states (we're a remote workforce), and we began using Namely after leaving a different software in the summer of 2016. I struggled to decide between a three and four-star review. For now, I'm going with a three, but I reserve the right to revise upward or downward in future weeks and months.

Our sales and introductory phase with Namely was excellent. We learned a lot about the product and Namely's offerings, and, obviously, our organization was sold. As I've seen noted in some other reviews, there were problems with our implementation. Our payroll was set up incorrectly, even though Namely had payroll registers to model on, and that error resulted in the underpayment of taxes. To Namely's credit, they put a lot of work in to correct the issue and file amendments, but it was disappointing that poor implementation resulted in something like that. We've also had spotty responsiveness and support, but that has improved as the kinks have gotten worked out (which is somewhat backward to what you, as a customer, might want).

Outside of the implementation and responsiveness, we love the platform. I love that we have so much control over payroll (that wasn't the case with other software), and the HRIS side of things is much more sleek, streamlined, and easy to understand.

In summary, I would say our relationship and experience is improving over time, but there's still some damaged trust and suspiciousness after the rocky implementation.

It's so easy!

Comments: My company switched to Namely from ADP and the difference is day and night. Not only is Namely faster at responding to my inquiries than our ADP account manager was, but the Namely interface is 100x easier. I cannot say enough great things about Namely.

Comments: Namely is very user friendly on both ends of the spectrum, but there are some places where they could still work on, especially with the benefits side of things.

Pros: UI is great! Super easy to use, great looking app and website, love the newsfeed function where employees can keep up with other employees!

Cons: It doesn't work the best with benefit enrollment and our payroll unfortunately

Recommendations to other buyers: Its a great tool for the money that you spend for it!

Pros: Easy to access; fairly intuitive

Cons: Inability to format text on performance reviews and wacky output spacing on the performance review report.

Overall: Our company uses Namely for multiple facets of HR (onboarding, performance reviews, benefits, payroll), and our experience has been positive overall. Our Namely account rep has been very responsive to our questions and needs. The technology is maturing, and they seem to have a destination in mind. We've had bumps along the way, but Namely works to make things right.

Comments: I use Namely HR daily for Benefits Administration, Payroll Processing, Onboarding and more. It's extremely useful for me as an administrator and also as a user because of it's user friendly interface and ease of navigation.

Pros: All in one HR Software Easy benefits enrollment Great for keeping employee information up to date Useful for collaboration with others Relevant payroll reports

Cons: I would like to see the calendar improved.

Recommendations to other buyers: Feel free to ask any questions/concerns and be very specific in what your needs are especially during setup.

Pros: I mostly love being able to have HR, benefits and payroll information all in one spot! Of course Namely is not the only program which can handle these processes, but I do find Namely very flexible and capable of handling all our needs.

Cons: We may be unique, but we do value anonymity in our review process. I do wish the review program settings could be set at the company level so that all managers could initiate the process in the same manner. without my needing to ensure it is handled in the same way each time. I've communicated our need and I'm sure Namely is assessing to see if this is something other companies could use as well.

Overall: We love Namely for our HR, benefit and payroll administration. And our employees enjoy the social feed area as well. The site is flexible, easy to use and we get wonderful support from our Namely team!

Recommendations to other buyers: Be sure to check out Namely before making any final choices on new HR, benefits or payroll software.

Comments: I have been doing payroll for over 25 years. This may be a good Human Resources software, I would not know, but the payroll software and staff is by far the worst I have ever used. Our company was set-up for payroll taxes in states where we had no operation. We told Namely that we did not have nexus in the state. Yet employees had deductions taken out and funds were erroneously submitted to the state. From all of the states that were messed up, it will take at least 18 months to fix our state taxation from only using Namely for 9 months. There are many other more cost effective and competent payroll services available. I strongly recommend using them.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't believe the marketing.

Comments: It has a modern look and feel, although it's starting to get a little dated (no major update to the design since launch). There's a good amount of functionality - I like the HRIS, payroll and benefits all in one, but the three still need to be fully integrated, and there are missing pieces such as HR reporting and analytics (significant gap, IMO). The customer service has been mixed - seems to come down to who you are working with (some are very good and others less so). The system has a decent amount of configurability. There's an open API, but I think they still need a more robust partner network. And the integrations need to be deeper in order to really unlock the potential. Overall, Namely is the best option I've seen for 100-1,000 employee, high-growth companies, and I believe the platform will get better as they keep building out.

Comments: I am the HR Generalist at my company and have been working with Namely for a little over a year now. While I'm not able to speak to the implementation process, I can give some feedback on the day-to-day use of the system. In the past year, I have seen Namely make tremendous product improvements. The system absolutely has it's nuances, but their customer support team is incredibly receptive and responsive to the needs of their clients. They really listen to feedback which is reflected in the product enhancements they continue to make.

The HRIS side of the product has great flexibility and is very user friendly. It has been an invaluable tool in keeping our multiple office locations connected. Employees are able to post pictures and announcements which encourages a lot of engagement. We have been able to customize according to our needs which has been so helpful in managing the information we need to capture. We also use the performance management system for our performance review process and while I can't speak to the administration of this process since I do not currently oversee it, our employees have found this process to be seamless. The payroll side of the product has a ton of reporting that is straight forward and easy to read. Payroll and benefits are administered without difficulty- our open enrollment was much more manageable with the use of their benefits portal.

As startup, we are always evolving. Thankfully, Namely's team has been there to cater to our changing needs. I would say that their customer support is their greatest asset. I don't know what I would do without our consultant and the vast amount of resources Namely provides clients!

Comments: Benefit implementation was extremely rocky. We had to begin our open enrollment 1 month later than expected. The benefit team (Brokers) were great! They were in constant communication with us, and assured us that everything would be taken care of. Well, we ended up losing our projected benefit plan. We then had another plan that was not well off like the one we wanted, but we needed something to give to our employees. This is where the Namely benefits team dropped the ball. Communication slowly dimished and our benefits in Namely never changed from the original to the present. To make matters worse, one of our Brokers from Namely was arrogant, unqualified, and attitude-prone. She made our relationship with Namely a terrible experience. We no longer wanted to rely on the benefits team for the mere fact that we didn't want to deal with her. Here's the best part about Namely's benefit team (sarcasm) - the unpleasant Broker had a subordinate who went into our dental carrier's website and took away one of our employees benefits! Yes, that's right! She deleted the dental benefits without speaking to us beforehand. That is extremely unprofessional. That employee ended up going to his dental provider and was denied for not having dental insurance.

Cons: Had to constantly look at the user guides. The user guides were not detailed enough. Ex. roles and permissions - too complicated.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look elsewhere. They look good and are on the cutting edge of technology, but lack the fundamentals to be a great system.

Pros: The system is very easy to use and the employees enjoy engaging with their peers. As a global organization, this aspect was very important to us.

Cons: As a newer system, there are integrations that you find with other products that Namely is still working on (i.e. auto updates between HR and payroll). Also, there is no ATS incorporated in the product.

Overall: We transitioned to Namely due to the ease of use of the system and the engagement aspect of the system. We are lucky to say....the system has not let us down. The employees really enjoying engaging with each other and posting congratulatory messages. One of the best compliments we received was during open enrollment for benefits when an employee stated it was the easiest they have ever been through at any company! There is still some work to be done in the functionality, such as a truly integrated system between HR and payroll; however, Namely is transparent about this and it is included in their roadmap which is available for review. Overall, two thumbs up!

Comments: We only used Namely for HRIS, not payroll or benefits, so perhaps my experience would have been different if everything was all tied together. In the end though, because they didn't give you a dedicated HR business partner, and the insurance rates weren't great, we switched to ADP Total Source (a PEO). My experience with Namely was ok.

Pros: The interface looks nice. The fields are customizable, although often you must get your service person to create them for your.

Cons: The customizable fields often require someone on the inside to implement for you.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would read more about those who experienced Namely with their benefits and payroll included. Ideally, the system would integrate all things together and make it super easy for employees to login, make the necessary elections or changes etc.

Comments: A couple of years ago I sat in my office after getting off the phone with our previous HR software support team. I was angry at the 72 hour turn around time and then it hit me. I don't have to put up with this. I began my journey to find a replacement HR/Payroll platform. I didn't want to be held back by so-called "turn around time" ever again. Demo after demo I battled through all the fluff of the so called superb platforms on the market, then I threw on the brakes. I stumbled on this company called Namely that looked familiar to social media that I frequent. It looked so simple, could this be the one? I signed up for the demo prepared to be disappointed by a flashy sight with no power behind it and awful customer service, but then it happened. I found the ONE. So simple, yet very powerful and the customer service was off the chart (from another planet). We took a leap and implemented Namely's HR and Payroll platform. I dreaded to hear employee feedback and was terrified to reach out to customer support. Employee feedback started to roll in, what? they actually love it and it's easy to use. I never dreamed I would receive so much positive feedback from employees, but I did and still do. Then came the day I had to contact customer support. I was blown away by the quick and courteous support I received. I was in awe. This is exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't believe it. An HR platform that employees love, HR and Payroll managers love to use, and quick and courteous support. Namely will allow us to grow To Infinity and Beyond! We love Namely!

Pros: Employees and Managers love the look, feel and ease of use. The platform is very customize able and the reporting is very powerful. From on-boarding to termination, Namely has what it takes to get the job done. Their open API is a huge plus allowing integration with almost any vendor.

Cons: The calendar could be more powerful and the file storage could use a makeover, but you can't lose with this platform. They are continuously listening to users and making improvements.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are not happy with your current HR/Payroll platform you definitely need to give Namely a look.

Pros: I love all the integration between their HR and Payroll platforms. Namely is truly a one stop shop when it comes to an all around HR/Payroll platform.

Cons: It's hard to say anything negative about the platform. It was up and running and ready to go from the start. The customer service has been excellent. There have been mostly positive experiences so far.

Overall: From the beginning, Namely has been fast, easy, yet very powerful. This platform looks and feels like social media sites, but in the background (or under the hood) is very powerful technology that allows both employers and employees simplify their work life. For the employer there are very powerful reporting and communication tools. The benefit management, on boarding, and performance reviews are a breeze. Throw in payroll and you have an unstoppable platform that knocks out the competition. The employee enjoys the ease of being up to date with company announcements. The calendar is excellent and allows managers to make sure coverage is where it is needed at the click of the mouse. Namely eliminates all the headaches of paperwork with their benefit management and benefit partners. Namely's customer service is light-years ahead of the competition. If you haven't done it yet DEMO Namely. Your life will be changed forever!

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are having trouble choosing a software definitely view a demo. Then ask to speak with some real people who use Namely in their organization everyday and get their take on the platform.

Pros: I love how customizable Namely is.

Cons: They haven't rolled it out yet but, I'm excited to be able to report on any and every field in Namely in one report and I'm hopeful that we'll be able to do document signing for current employees one day.

Overall: We signed up for Namely in the Fall of 2014. We started with the HRIS and benefits for just flex spending. Being in HR, it was wonderful to be able to customize Namely's platform to include the data that we wanted to track and provide. For employees, it was a game changer because they now had access to information they had never had before (such as a clear salary and bonus history). In January 2015 we launched payroll with two of our smaller entities. Employees found Namely easy to log into and the paystubs were clear and easy to read. In the Fall of 2015 we added all of our benefits into Namely and did our full open enrollment. It was amazing for both employees and HR. HR loved that there was no paper to track and it was easy to see where everyone was in regard to the open enrollment process. Employees appreciated being able to log in from anywhere and how easy the system was to navigate. We also started using the Onboarding feature and it has saved employees and HR so much time. Now, employees are able to fill out all of their new hire and benefits information before their start date. We've seen the turnaround time decrease dramatically! All around, Namely has been extremely helpful for employees, HR, and payroll. And, if anyone asked, I would absolutely recommend Namely!
