But if he knew his job, the language shouldn't have even been a problem. It really streamlines the process for sending out orders in a timely fashion Pros I like how easy it is to use. I also like how it is now separate from Paypal but still integrates well with orders. Cons It can sometimes be a little clunky when printing quick labels. It also requires a business name for when you are sending out. General Manager Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Greedy Money Grabbers" July 24, 2025 1.0 Pros I used to sing their praises and recommend them to everyone who needed any shipping services. They used to be very reasonable and provide a nice amount of features on their lower-tier packages. Cons They have become yet another greedy software company that does not care about its customers. We have been using their Bronze package for years. We have always been able to edit our packing slips. I really didn't need to change anything except the barcode size, because the barcode on the default packing slip is too small and doesn't scan. Suddenly, with no communication from ShipStation, my account has reverted back to the default packing slip, and I am no longer able to change the barcode size. The ability to customize packing slips is now behind a paywall. I would have to pay an extra $480 per year just to have a packing slip that is scannable! Instead of telling me that I need to upgrade to the next tier, why don't they just make a default packing slip that is actually functional? I actually reached out to support to see if they could just fix the barcode size on my default packing slip. Lo and behold! They actually changed it! But alas, the next day it reverted to default sizing again. So I reached out to support again, and they changed the barcode size again. I asked if this is a permanent change because it only lasted a day last time. He assured me this is a permanent change and I won't need to reach out again. One day later, it reverted to the default size again. I reached out again, and this time I got a support agent who told me I need to pay an extra $40 a month to have a functional packing slip. I'm not asking for additional features; I just want FUNCTIONAL default features. Also, they randomly took API functionality from my account. Guess what? July 11, 2025 5.0 Overall, I was happy with ShipStation when we used it exclusively for all of our shipments. We still use it as a backup when our other platform goes down for maintenance or some other reason. Pros ShipStation is fast and easy to learn and set up. This is a great solution for getting up and running quickly when syncing with your Shopify store. Cons I wish the rate shopping feature was available on the base plan. We ended up switching to another platform for the rate shopping. Pros ShipStation combines all the necessary shipping and tracking tools needed under one roof. While being a fairly cost-effective solution for warehouse teams, it is pretty robust. Setup is incredibly simple, which plenty of guidance from customer support! Cons The tool can be a little bit of a resource hog on more basic thin clients and lower hardware spec'd workstations. It does exactly what is needed though. I track with it. We use it each day. We save money with it. It’s pretty user friendly. Can’t live without it now. Pros It’s pretty awesome. We had trouble before we found this with high shipping rates. This product saved us money and gave us a great way to manage and integrate all our shipping and orders. We are grateful. Cons Nothing. It imports all of your order and customer information into the software from most online selling platforms. It pulls the shipping information so all you have to do is confirm and ship. It is easy to customize your settings such as packing slips and messages to buyers. I love how it sends the tracking number back to the appropriate platform so that I don’t have to do that manually. The shipping prices are low and all shipping options are available. I highly recommend using this for order fulfillment. Pros I like how all shipping services are available and easy to apply. Everything is easy to understand and operate. The software communicates with most selling platforms and keeps updated inventory. Cons I would like the pricing to be based on volume not number of platforms. We are very satisfied with that aspect. We do not intend to change away from it. Pros The easy to gather all the orders from different selling channels into one tool. No extra entering of shipping information and I like how it does verify all your addresses. Cons The Magento Module has issues. Live Rates do not just transfer from Shipstation to the website. It ends up being $0 for shipping that gets charged to our customers. I had to deactivate that functionality. For many start up companies that do not have a lot of inventory or a high volume of SKU's, Shipstation will provide a powerful tool that can help speed up fulfillment and release many of the frustration of shipping product while not costing you huge amounts of money. Pros Shipstation is great for companies that are looking for a label printing solution for there shopping carts. Shipstation is able to handle high volumes of orders and allows for labels to be pre-printed, which can greatly increase the fulfillment time. There are pretty good filtering options that can lead to more efficiencies when printing that can save time with your fulfillment team. Shipstation integrates with many different platforms fairly seamlessly, which allows for more diversity in the ever growing number of platforms that are out there. They are also constantly adding new platforms that can integrated with. I think the fact that this software is user friendly and efficient in its design makes this software a worthwhile investment for those that need a better shipping solution. Cons The issues that we have run into with this software as we have scaled to processing over 3000 shipments a day are too many holes which can cause many opportunities for errors, processing speeds, and lack of flexibility. When you are processing up to 3000 orders a day problems flesh themselves out quickly. One issue that has arisen is the inability to hold people accountable when errors occur. For example, since the labels are pre-printed there is not a simple to way to know who misshiped an order when it is sent incorrectly to a customer. On top of that, since the labels are pre-print there is no way to verify through software on the outbound that a shipment is correct. You have to trust that your team is packing order correctly, which is guaranteed to cause problems regardless. There is also the possibility that labels can be double printed or not printed at all since labels are processed and then a PDF is created to print orders. This has been costly for us an multiple occasions, which is hardly preventable no matter who you have printing. Due to the fact that Shipstation is cloud based this can cause issues with processing speeds. We have seen hang ups (especially on Mondays) that cause the whole team to be slowed down due. The other issue with cloud based system is the lack of flexibility for Shipstation to be customized to how you would like it.
