May 2, 2017 4.0 Pros Deltek has a very good customer support, they are excellent in providing for defense organizations needs. Their consultants are very knowledgeable and well trained. Cons I would like to see more "interfaced" ancillaries. No PN versioning, every revision is a new ID number. coping from E BOM to M BOM high potential for errors. Quadrupled data administration for my engineering group. One item is the simple issue of not being able to reprint an invoice from the system after posting. If you forget to save, you cannot get that invoice back, which is required in a big picture for auditing purposes. It was a huge, complex system back then. But there are advantages to the complexities, highly customizable and capable of handling the regulations and policies of government contracting. Deltek has taken the product and reinvented it time and time again to provide increase functionality and more integration to other necessary products. I'm proud to have Costpoint experience on my resume and I feel it brings my resume added value. Pros Complex, not just anyone can jump in an use it. You have to understand it to fully appreciate its complexity. Excellent for handling the government contracting requirements without the necessity of dozens of spreadsheets. This makes the overall accounting process seem simple. Cons The multi step process for most functions is my least favorite thing within Costpoint. In general terms the overall capabilities of the system are excellent, but it has not been without bumps in the road. The current version 7.0.1 has reached a good level of stability, something that the was a hallmark of 6.2. Some of the architectural decisions created continual upgrade problems and ultimately led us to a slowdown of our upgrade process. So, while the web version has some good new features, we hope Deltek will continue to return to a stronger, more stable product Pros Overall capabilities are excellent...extensibility is a KEY feature to add your own capabilities. However, the features are all sold as separate modules making it non affordable to small companies. We were sold on a great product and wanted to be able to use the features but were informed after the sale that those features were separate modules. The features we use now are good though. Really not user-friendly. Cons Very difficult to submit expense reports and very buggy. First, the system is really difficult to use. I've had to help 3 coworkers submit expense reports because it was too complicated. You can't save an expense report unless everything is perfect and the error messages are often vague and not helpful. The system is extremely buggy. The workflow tab only reads one attachment per expense. Sometimes it reads the wrong attachment. I also found a bug that the wrong per diem rate was listed. Review Source BS Brian S. One more click to enter time, one data entry, and finally a pesky to find very small save button that is poorly placed above instead of at the bottom of the timecard). 7 clicks total. It takes me 3 in the Unanet timecard system to do the same thing with an intuitive easy to find larger save button. Starting a timecard is even less intuitive. Pros Absolutely supercalifragilisticexpialadocious nothing! Did I mention that there is nothing good about this software? Cons Too many non-intuitive and small button clicks to report time. Pros I like the cloning feature Cons I would like the DCN process when updating MBOM's to be more user friendly. There are too many options (Add, Change, Remove, Delete, etc.), and then also the same options on the next screen to do the same. When doing the same, it doesn't always mean the same :( This feature could be fine tuned. I would also like to see the MBOM process to be automated from our Teamcenter ePIC system to Costpoint. After working through all the Hot Fix applications - we still have the problem - so, being to to apply them did not help. (Just a bit discouraging.) Pros We love the Web version and capabilities - looking forward to Extensibility Cons Changing support staff, getting someone from the other side of the world and having to wait until the next evening to get a call back. The product looks great and would probably be of great help to my business, but is ridiculously overpriced. CostPoint is priced based on the number of employees. For 60 employees, I was told I would have to pay a high annual fee that does not include add-ons. NOTE: This is sold as a SaaS solution, but Deltek requires the entire annual fee up front. In addition, I was told that the setup, data migration, and training would be handled by a 3rd party via a T&M contract and typically costs 1.5 times the annual fee. This is not a solution for a small business.
