After seeing applied changes and specific product roadmaps at Deltek Insight 2016, I'm excited about the direction of system improvements and enhancements to functionality and features that are either a reality now or coming in the very near future! Pros Having the ability to keep multiple period open at once is convenient. It allows us the chance to make sure that our data is correct before moving on. The increase in the number of available characters in our project numbers really helps in the organization process. Pros I most appreciate the stability of the processes built into the products. The implementation was painful as any implementation would be. However, once the system was up and running, we were able to successfully run the business. Support has been helpful. When set up properly, the system runs great. Pros Once you know all the steps it is pretty simple to use. Cons Lots of steps to complete a process. Our month end close is 100 steps. HR and Payroll are robust enough to handle the various taxing authorities, certified payroll and union regulations. Pros Highly configurable, excellent integration with other systems. Project went well and we went live in less then 18 months. Fast forward 2 years and we acquired another business. We were able to move them to Costpoint in less than 12 months and under budget Pros Project Accounting Cons Advanced Budgeting cumbersome and requires an interface. We have barely begun to scratch the surface of the capabilities of the product, but it currently handles all of our projects and proposals and is the heartbeat of our business. Granted it was more robust than any software I had experienced, I'm glad to have had the opportunity to work with it. It is more user friendly than I thought it would be. It allowed us to add our accounting approval process in the form of an extensibility. This process was tedious and was completely external. With this addition it allows us to have all accounting approvals under one umbrella. Pros Currently there is so much that surrounds the original basic Costpoint accounting, that integrates so well with it, you can run so many more aspects of your business with the needed common threads, great combination of functionality. In my new leadership role, I want to make sure that our HR department is using all of the fields the the system provides so that we are using it to its fullest potential. I think we have some areas that we are not fully utilizing that would help in the day to day. Great customer support, quick responses on the help desk. Pros It is intuitive and the UI design is clean and straight forward. It's easy to drill down and I just use it for timesheet reporting.. so, it's easy. Cons I heard it was expensive. I've used Unanet and it's also serviceable.... Deltek is easy too use and connects with ADP.. so, payroll is easy.
