Bob is a highly effective HRIS for small-medium sized SaaS companies

Pros

Bob is a solid HRIS system that can manage HR processes effectively. The system is user-friendly and easy to navigate, making it accessible to all employees. Its time tracking feature is highly efficient and helps to streamline the payroll process. Moreover, the feedback tracking feature is solid.

Cons

Bob's performance management leave much to be desired. Additionally, Bob's lack of support for useful competency frameworks is a major weakness. Without a strong foundation in this area, employees may struggle to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles.

What used to be Pento before they bought it and fired all the customers.

Cons

Terrible communication. They bought Pento payroll software then stopped anyone using it who has less than 50 employees. This was AFTER they told me I could continue using it and then dropped the news with less than a month to go. Truly shocking. If they do this they could screw you over at any minute.

Bob has simplified many aspects of our business. I can see and feel the ROI immediately and plan on doing those calculations at the end of Q4 to provide the leaders with percentage and data to showcase the ROI.

Pros

Bob has been great! We wanted a system that could be customized and unique to our unique workforce and business model. We found that in Bob!Implementation was a breeze. User friendly system allowed our employees the ability to get into the system with SSO, no technical issues & start using the system right away!

Cons

I would love the opportunity to "nudge" or remind people that have a task outstanding. Similar to when folks have pending documents. I would also add more features to the mobile app function. Currently it serves mostly as a directory but documents should be made available on the mobile app.

I really enjoy the app since, it makes easy for me to see insight within my company and different program and keeps me updated for any company news.

Pros

It allows me to have access to my confidential and company documents. It also allows me to communicate within my company with different team members from a different program.

Cons

All over it has a smooth operation. The only things what I would have more better are maybe able to have more access to our fully integrated emojis while making posts.

Overall, it’s a really positive experience. One of the standout features is how seamlessly Bob integrates with our existing systems, particularly Greenhouse and our internal workforce planning tool. Everything connects smoothly, making data flow and reporting straightforward. The platform provides strong insights, is user-friendly, and supports every stage of the process effectively.

Pros

The user interface is excellent, intuitive, clean, and easy to navigate. The reporting features are robust, offering all the insights and data you need from both an HR and recruitment perspective.

Cons

This is a bit of a double-edged sword for me, personally, I’m not a huge fan of having separate pages or tabs for the different products, like Talent and standard Bob HR. That said, I understand the reasoning behind it, and can see the benefits of keeping them distinct. It likely comes down to personal preference.

Great tool for teams of 200-400 people, with a focus on culture building, offers a solid HR management system

Pros

Clean dashboards, very user-friendly, highly customizable, good support, easy to learn, and good integrations and other features like engagement surveys built in

Cons

Performance management tool section needs some upgrade, and limited ATS (recruitment) integration functions, so need a separate tool for that part of the employee lifecycle management

\- The platform is user-friendly and visually clear, which made it easy to manage my time off, view company holidays, and keep track of personal information - I appreciated the transparency — being able to see the org chart, team structure, and who’s out of office helped me stay better connected with colleagues - It centralised a lot of useful resources like policies, documents, and feedback in one place

Cons

\- Some features, like performance feedback and goal tracking, felt underdeveloped - Navigation could be improved, I often have to click through multiple menus - There are times when notifications or updates haven't come through clearly

Very good experience, have used it in my 2 most recent roles and I find it very easy to use for requesting holidays, seeing what benefits we have, current organisation of the company etc, very intuitive and at the moment would not change anything about it for how I use it.

Pros

I like the UI, good use of space on the webpage and allows an employee to see shoutouts, essential links, upcoming work anniversaries, new hires etc. Quite intuitive in terms of sections of the different tabs, very easy to navigate around.

Cons

None for my use case, functions very well so far. If I had to nitpick, I'd say to give an option for dark mode users.

Our experience has been exemplary, especially compared to past HR systems we've worked with.

Pros

Bob is extremely user friendly and allows for customization to meet our needs. Customer support is very responsive and helpful in coming up with creative solutions to achieve our goals for the system. They take our feedback and implement changes regularly that constantly improve efficiency and make our lives easier.

Cons

My only complaint is the relative lack of flexibility to update the look and feel in bob. We have also experienced some issues with moving task due dates.

Pros

Unlike other HRIS companies I've worked with in the past, the Bob platform is incredibly flexible. I'm able to set up customized onboarding flows, employee fields, and reports for every instance. Surprises come up in HR a lot and can go with the flow.

Cons

My least favorite feature is no good screen to view all holidays across the company for employees.

Pros

As an employee, I find the interface to be very comfortable to locate information regarding my own employment, as well as submit time off notifications, etc. As a manager, while obviously the platform is only as useful as the information and features that our HR team chooses to include/utilize, I find the platform to be intuitive and clear - something which is not the case for many other products.

Cons

As noted above, I find the tool to be rather comfortable and do not have specific critiques. I believe our team could likely utilize more features, but that is obviously a calculous of time needed to set up more functionality as compared with competing demands in a rapidly scaling business.

It's fine for what it is supposed to do, like vacation tracking and viewing org chart. The overall UX does cause me to click around a lot before finding what I need so I wish the navigation could be more streamlined.

Pros

It has all the features you would expect for employee and people management. The org chart is very helpful.

Cons

It's too invasive. It asks for things like photo and age without specifying where that information is used. Since Bob has "public" employee profiles, I don't know who can see what. I think HR software should be explicit about where they are publicizing personal information for your colleagues to see.

Very positive. Time taken to understand the relationship between customizable parts is worth the investment (task + flows, fields + values and API related functions).

Pros

Having a singular location for all of our employee data and being able to search up the information I'm looking for saves me lots of time. Importing information in bulk is also super handy.

Cons

It was disappointing to learn that Sandbox features are behind a paywall since it's important for us to test and view features before implementing them to the hole company. The benefits page is a bit limiting in that you have to upload spreadsheets for each update.

We have had a very positive experience with Bob, its is a very intuitive system to use and the information available in the help centre is extensive and easy to follow. The response form the support team is very quick. The more we have asked of the system as we reviewed our internal processes and procedures, the more it delivered. We did not implement Bob wit the intention of reducing headcount but when one of the team resigned we did not need a replacement due to automation and self service.

Pros

Implementing Bob has had a significant positive impact on the workload of the HR team allowing us to spend more time on value add activities and far less on routine admin. This was achieved by automation of workflows and tasks through the entire employee lifecycle. Employee information is visible to managers, employees and selected departments (i.e Compliance) reducing the number of routine queries directed to HR.

Cons

It would be helpful if employees who are on garden leave could still access the system until their termination date. Access is removed based on their last day of work but they are still employed and need access to documents. Esign saves time in that documents are automatically added to the employees record when completed but the process of uploading, then making the document active followed by a third step to assign to the employee is clunky especially when sending multiple document to the same person.

ease of HR management, also our finance team benefits from easy holidays/absenses management, payroll reports and such. I'm doing all admin in bob, from contracts to onboarding, org structure, salary changes etc

Pros

It's very easy to use - user friendly interface, intuitive navigation, you can find whatever you need in the matter of seconds even if it's your first experience with the platform It's beautiful - our employees love it too The support team is amazing - they not only resolve any issues quickly, but they also listen to suggestions and implement them within reasonable time. I love getting product updates as I know that there will be something I asked about. The system features everything you'd want from a modern HRIS and even more - we love club feature and about section - it helps employees learn more about each other and find common interests. There's some functions that I'd love to have but they are not yet there (such as pre-boarding or e-signature) but the guys are constantly working on them and I've seen that for example e-signature is coming within next few weeks.

Cons

If we are talking about bob as HRIS there's very few things that I don't like, or rather I would like to have and they are not yet there - prebording being one example. I'd love performance module to be more sophisticated but the guys have just introduced it and I see that it gets updated constantly, which is great. also, it's not a separate platform for performance management so I wouldn't expect it have all the features that other platforms dedicted to performance only have. There are other small things (such as I can't send a survey to 1 person only), but they are small compared to all the benefits and again, I know that sooner or later those will be resolved too.

is incredibly convenient for efficiently compiling and organizing staff data, particularly when it comes to gathering specific information for various tasks and departments. Its flexibility significantly streamlines my workload, making managing data a breeze.

Cons

is fantastic, but a feature I'd love to see is the ability to save preset report filters for different departments. This would streamline processes by having specific filters ready, eliminating the need to manually adjust them for each department's unique requirements. Implementing this would further boost efficiency and customization within the platform.

LOVE Bob! I've worked with several HRIS and it is honestly the easiest to use, the support team are lovely and overall it is a great user experience.

Pros

Access to real time data. System is easy to customise, you don't need a dev team to make changes you need and changes can be done in real time. Ease of use both for the HR team and employees. Its easy to navigate and use.

Cons

I think more work can be done on the performance management piece i.e.: including weightings on key indicators, instead of on the whole goal.

Pros

There is so much to explore with Bob and the capacity for data is endless. It makes HR more fun with a social media-like feel to it, which helps build a virtual community between employees.

Cons

Because there is so much capacity, sometimes it can be difficult to navigate and understand the process behind specific tools. There are still some features that I doubt I have understood, but as time goes I explore and learn more and the potential keeps growing.

It's very easy to navigate as a user. The side panel makes it easy to find what you are looking for. The Time Off section is what I mainly use Bob for and I like the feature where you can estimate how much time off you'll have in the future The demographics for our organisation is also a very neat feature on the homepage

I do not have anything that I don't like about Bob. If anything, I wish there were more demographics for our organisation on the homepage, and maybe update the demographics! As I'm not sure the demographics have been updated since I joined the org

We are still working to find the best way to use Bob for many tasks. However, it has really allowed our HR team to unify on practices and documentation in a way that we couldn't before. Our management team likes the ease of requesting promotions and raises for the team, and everyone enjoys the visually attractive org chart.

Pros

The interface is easy to use, which leads to high rates of adoption. We also like that it works for our employees in Russia - finding a product that works in Russia was difficult, and it kept us from uniting as a global organization. Finally, I like how customizable and configurable it is. Teams in different companies or even different states have very different needs, and Bob lets our HR team build processes that are conditioned on employee demographics.

Cons

It's a steep learning curve! You need to have someone on your team prepared to really learn the software inside and out.
