Owner Arts and Crafts Used the software for: I used a free trial ### "Easier to use software than AutoCad" February 13, 2020 5.0 Generally it is a more user friendly 2D floorplan generator, but misses some of the better functions from more complex design programs. Pros This simple drafting and floor-plan design app is perfect for small jobs. The page layout and tools are done very well, and it makes this software very user friendly, and easy to use. It is a very competent drawing and drafting app that may be perfect for those who need less complex design software. The newer updates also have given it better speed and stability. Cons While the functionality of the software helps make it user friendly and great for smaller projects, the updates are just falling behind compared to full fledged 3D architectural design program. Also, I very much want to have floating tool windows to help speed up the design process alongside better templates. Review Source PC Phil C. The biggest downfall of them all has been the support, or I should say "the lack of support" really ! Most times its either phoning the USA or sending help emails off, during a middle drawing crisis which is not good. With MacDraft the support is in the UK and the staff are second to non !! In my forensic engineering work I often need to make sketches for others to see how things work. October 1, 2019 5.0 I like that it is easier to use and doesn't meed various clicks when part to a drawing is done. I like the range of options available Pros I have had MacDraft for many years. Current Version 7 is just an upgrade Cons I use the program on a Mac computer with a remote mouse. This mouse is very easy to use, but it is also very sensitive and the slightest movement on or fractionally above it causes the page I am working on to move about while I am trying to draw on it. This was not a problem with the previous version. Pros Been using previous versions of MacDraft for 6 to 7 years, new one is sort of similar in some aspects. Cons With the previous MacDraft program I have recently updated around 60, 1 or 2 page, multi-layer drawings. On opening one of these drawings using the new program the sizing of some text has been automatically changed so that a number of highlighted clipped text messages are now displayed. Takes 20 to 30 minutes per drawing to fix. When using the text editor on first entering some text the pointer always goes to the beginning of the text. Used the software for: ### "Macdraft pro" March 27, 2017 4.0 I have been using this program for about 8(?) years. I originally took to it for it's reasonable price and familiar tool layout as I had been using Adobe Illustrator for doing cabinetry shop drawings and the tool set is quite similar. Not really knowing the scope of various programs that are available, I felt that MacDraft was a safe bet, which turned out to be true. It is a very user friendly and intuitive program that I was able to seamlessly pick up. I really didn't want to -and didn't feel I could afford to- spend a month learning a new program. I have a custom cabinet shop in Brooklyn NY and do all of the drawings for what we build. My only complaints are some very minor issues I have had with measurement readouts once in a while. January 5, 2021 5.0 We just finished a custom built home. I was able to provide our builder accurate plans for the home’s special design features. I maintain a design studio for printmaking and engraving and MacDraft helps me produce tools and fixtures to get my work done. Pros Excellent user interface. Newest update is even better. I was shown this software by my Apple Tech consultant way back then. I fell in love with the ease of it, I can email the drawings to my blueprint company and have full size drawings ready in no time! Conversely, I leave many of them on my iPad or laptop to show clients who don't require a paper print to understand what's going on with their project. I will admit that I don't use all of the amazing tools offered--after all of this time, 30+ years, I'm still not well versed enough to use all of the CAD based options, but that's just a matter of using their tutorials, user guide and learning! But I knew I needed to find a replacement for the Mac-based CADD program I was using. It was too unstable and difficult to use. I found MacDraft Pro and based on reviews I had read, downloaded the trial version. Right away, I was off to a great start. It is very easy to use, seems very stable so far and I am really enjoying using it. They also have a great online manual to help you through whatever it is you are trying to accomplish. Looking forward to more projects to try it on. The sales team was super supportive and helpful. They are even developing an engineering library more suited to our needs! So far, its been a super program for us. Pros program is easy to use, seems pretty intuitive for a non-CADD trained person. The online manual very helpful and detailed. I have only used this version for a short period of time, but getting into it was pretty easy. I can well imagine that there is a lot more potential to discover for the more professional use. Cons Like always, there's still a room for improvement. Some initial logic is somewhat different than actually some heavy 3D programs that I've used in the past. I gather that it is more likely myself that need to learn out of old habits. Overall, I feel that import / export format compatibility could be more straightforward as a process. However, that has not yet occurred, so 6.2 is still sitting in the applications folder awaiting an operating system on which it can function. I have no doubt that I will be totally satisfied, however. I have worked with probably a half dozen versions of MacDraft consistently since 1990, and have always been well-pleased. August 16, 2017 4.0 For the cost, I can draw up my design ideas with relative ease and accuracy. I was able to get up and going really quickly without struggling to figure out how to use it. Pros Basically, easy to use. Intuitive like most Mac software. Works well for my home projects but I'm not sure how useful for a business, unless basic remodeling. I like the software for my home projects. Cons I think there are more functions then are easily identified, or my expectations are too high. I do find myself a little frustrated in sizing objects. I use MacDraft for all the layouts for CNC cutting of materials. Just finished designing the conversion of our front lawned yard to a garden and saved $200 with the garden designer because the layout of the space with walks and house was already done. I use MacDraft for my social justice and church activities to design flyers, signs for marches and many other graphic projects. However, MacDraft crashes way too often and requires constant saves to protect your work. Crashes often occur when trying to save work, which is very disturbing and usually corrupts the file making it un-openable. It's not as powerful as other CAD programs, but that does make it easier to learn and use. Pros The best things about the MacDraft Professional software is that it's easy to use and works on a Mac. Cons It doesn't have all of the features of more advanced programs (which, consequently, makes MacDraft easy to use) and it tends to be a bit buggy. Review Source DT David T. Love this one too" March 25, 2017 5.0 I just upgraded to 6.2, easier to use than any previous version, although to be honest I've always found McDraft to be the easiest Cad drawing program to learn and use. Even if I'm the one making up the fixtures and furniture, it only take a 1/2 minute to do. Highly recommend this software for anyone looking for Cad software for drafting simple to highly detailed complete plan sets, as I have done.
