Travel Writer Writing and Editing Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Fast, Easy, And Phenomenally Accurate" May 21, 2022 5.0 As a travel writer, I am often wandering through foreign markets looking for a good story or a great photo. This app allows me to interact and communicate with locals anywhere in the world—the audio read function was also essential in places like Russia, where I don't read the alphabet! Or other places where some of the local population may not be able to read their own script. Pros I use this software daily as an expat in Spain, and I love that it's simple and easy to just type and go. The app is lightweight, so it loads in an instant on a phone, and it's a cinch to reverse the arrow and translate in the other direction (Spanish to English and English to Spanish, for example). I also like the love photo translation! Point this app at a menu or a product label and the app translates the text in the camera! Cons It's certainly not feature rich if you want it to have bells and whistles. It's a lightweight app that just translates—that's all I want in a translation app (or on the website), so I think it's pretty ideal. The only downsides for Google Translate come from what all apps face: errors from machine translation. Google's error rate is lower than most though, so I love it. As previously mentioned, my older aunts and uncles in Iceland were not required to learn English in school and I shudder to think that their stories would be lost to me without translation that I can provide myself. I have also used this app to ask numerous questions in Spanish while vacationing in Mexico. Lastly, I work as an emergency dispatcher and cannot express the assistance that Google Translate has provided during calls with ESL issues within the Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese, Korean, and Russian communities. Pros It's free... WOW! I will be a major Word of Mouth reference source. I was super impressed to find Icelandic as a language option. I cannot say the same for the other top rated translation apps. In addition, the ability to have a "conversation" with my non English-speaking older relatives is amazing! Cons Icelandic is a difficult language, and Google Translate is somewhat antiquated with the current speech patterns and verbiage. Pros Translate is another software that is never missing in my day-to-day work, and I say this because sometimes I receive documents, written research, cultural proposals and libretti that are not written in my original language. Although I speak three languages sometimes I need support to understand some words and sentences and their meanings, and translate is indicated for this task, as it allows me to introduce the word or sentence that at the time I do not understand or do not remember and translate, giving me an approximate idea of what the text is trying to express. This tool is very functional and I use it permanently. Cons When I make the comparison with other software I have noticed that it does translations that are not faithful to the general ideas described in the text, this reduces a little my productivity, since the translations or readings that I make try to be as accurate as possible and this software sometimes does not allow me. This is thanks to the documents I am reading in other languages, where my weaknesses are complemented by this powerful tool and I can analyze new trends, new sports-community approaches, collaborative and synergy, necessary to strengthen my activities together with the communities. Translate has a powerful word search engine which translates to the language you want, in order to be able to read the documents you are reading in other languages. It should be noted that it is very easy to use. I recommend it without hesitation for all those who, like me, need to translate certain words and texts. Cons I have noticed that it is not very reliable in this program to put large excerpts of texts, since sometimes you lose the real sense of what you want to read or write. All the company needed was a couple of the most common languages for work orders. For 5 languages 59 dollars, is not a bad price.
