This is modern day office mate, the set up of information just makes sense and staff enjoys using it aside from the minor frustrations

Pros

Ability to attach all of our screening devices to automatically load into system, system keeps track of last exam and families last exams so when you are on the phone you can recommend that it is time for family members exams. Ability to use tablet or desktop

Cons

Contact lens input in exam is better but still time consuming and difficult, speed issues, internet blames EHR and EHR blames internet with no solution.

Great support when we switched over from Exam Writer and continued support to this day after years of use! I absolutely love how intuitive the iPad is making it easy for new staff to learn. Overall my office flow is so much more efficient. One of the best decisions I ever made was switching to Eyefinity EHR.

Pros

I love the standardization with Eyefinity EHR. Nothing gets overlooked during an exam because the process is the same, no matter the patient. But my favorite feature is using the iPad. It allows me to show patients what I’m doing in real time and makes the exam more personal.

### "Not a fan of EPM"

Poor. I wish we had never switched from OfficeMate.

Pros

Submitting orders for private pay materials goes straight to vendor/lab. Not having to do it twice.

Cons

All the down time and failed orders with VSP. Not having all the lens options available. Not able to pay more than glasses cost in order for pt to pay exam copay before exam is checked out, I have to do a misc. payment then apply as a cust credit. Can't correct or delete mis payments easily if wrong amount is put in. Reports...I don't even know where to begin with those.

We love Eyefinity Practice Management and all the features and support we receive!

Pros

I like the fact that Eyefinity is constantly working to improve the software. There are lots of features that make my life easier - the Online Scheduler, Electronic Remittance Payments from Insurance Companies, Integration with TriZetto for Claims Filing to name a few.

Cons

Nobody likes it when software doesn't work like you expect it to; but on the occasion when that's happened to our office, Eyefinity Tech Support has always been friendly and helpful, working to correct any issues.

### "EPM is not an upgrade from OfficeMate"

Coming from OfficeMate, we were expecting an upgraded experience. Sadly, EPM forces you to adapt your office procedures to it instead of the other way around. OfficeMate had its flaws, but atleast you could customize it to make your office more efficient. EPM has very little in this aspect, in hindsight we should have chosen a different cloud based system

I think this is a really good practice management software. I have used two other systems in the past and this is by the best. However, the glitches that occur seemingly on a monthly basis are frustrating.

Pros

The integration with VSP and ABB Optical Group really is a time saving tool.

Cons

The constant issues that occur after almost EVERY UPDATE! It seems like well over 50% of every update causes some sort of glitch. I don't understand why these things continue to happen.

### "Stay with ExamWriter"

ExamWriter is much better clinically than EHR. For doctors it is easier to follow, easier to document. We wouldn't have change to EHR if Officemate was more compatible with VSP and billing process. It's like EHR was developed and whether it was any good or not, Eyefinity was going to stay with it for some reason that had nothing to do with clinical efficiency. I would tell someone to stay with ExamWriter.

Pros

It links with EPM for orders, billing. Fax letter feature is nice. Pharmacy link is nice.

Cons

Clumsy, cumbersome, inefficient, obviously not written by a doctor. The iPad version is so different than the desktop version it is like a different program. The CL order and finalizing process is not intuitive at all. Auto coding feature is 100% wrong with every VSP patient. Way too many steps to achieve simple processes like printing an Rx. And the inability to "name" an Rx outside of it's limited list of Rx types is limiting. (i.e. Hobby/Sports is a category. You can't label an Rx "Music" or "Golf". Dumb. Try ordering an SCL in one eye and hybrid in the other. RGP orders do not forward properly. The CL trial feature is confusing when using multiple CLs with multiple Cl types. It is lame that you have to finalize a record before sending a letter for a referral without "Preliminary" showing up on the letter to a specialist. Sometimes there is no time finalize a record before sending the referral during an exam. The need to commit a "Plan" before a diagnosis is not at all practical. It does not follow a SOAP process that all doctors are trained to follow. The body indicator feature simple gets in the way of clinical drawings when drawing a pathology.

My experience with EEHR is from the beginning. This EEHR continues to grow and develop month by month and year by year. I like it, my staff likes it and patients really think it is cool that all of their all exam information is captured on a small tablet. I use a mini iPad.

The iPad application. The mobility of having patient information at my fingers tips at any time or place.

Cons

The software works for me, so I have no complaints.

EPM is horrible. Office Mate setup and fluidity was much more user friendly. I have used several different Practice Management software over many years and EPM is by far the least user friendly I have ever encountered. It is a "work harder not smarter" practice management program.

Pros

It is cloud based. The ability to have more than one screen open at a time.

Cons

Creating invoices entails multiple unnecessary steps. Having to return invoices if an error is made. There should be simple delete options. Having to return to add insurance after the fact. Not being able to add Payers and insurance plans. Not being able to attach materials to payers. The lack of fluidity. The lack of patients statement customization. The lack of customized reports. Not being able to select 2 different insurances on one invoice (per line item). Lack of knowledge of EF customer support. Patient balances separated in Pt balance and insurance balance. The lack of a clear ledgers/transactions.

### "Updates ruined this software for me"

This is the worst program I have used, but at least there were ways to work around all the silly processes. Recently they did an update and the program is actually worse! The updates make it very difficult to see what the total and paid amounts are, among a number of other things that make the process more complicated. Whomever is designing this is certainly not using it in the real world. You will need to learn all the workarounds, because the work flow doesn't work effectively most of the time. Oh, and if VSP is not the majority of your sales, trying to put in non-VSP orders is a joke. Even with VSP, it doesn't work correctly a lot of the time. You get a red skittle, or the insurance won't pull into the system. If you end up going online to file the claim enough, you begin to ask yourself what the point is of having this system. The system is not synced well enough with VSP to avoid incorrect claims. Trying to reach customer service is an all day adventure. Don't believe it when you are given the option to leave a message. You will be disconnected most of the time.

Pros

There is a workaround for most things. Running VSP orders become simpler, when the system works and does not give you an error, a red skittle, or an insurance rejection that causes you to have to go online and do it manually.

Cons

The workaround processes tend to become the norm since the program usage is not simple. There are too many button clicks that do nothing. The update made the system even less logical and simple.

Reason for choosing Eyefinity Encompass

We chose EPM because they did a good sales pitch. It seemed like it would work well, but then you begin using it every day and notice so many opportunities for improvement, so much inefficiency, and so many times when the workflow simply does not work.

The protocol system they have setup makes charting so much faster and reliable. No more training staff and having to go back and edit before signing off. Love the AI integration.

Cons

EHR and EPM work on two different platforms rather than one system. Dont love the confusion that comes with that

Being able to communicate with staff or Dr's during a busy work day with the Intramail. Dr's being able to use the DirectMail to forward notes and referrals to other offices has been much more effective and faster than faxing paperwork.

Cons

Adding a modifier to Contact lens fitting codes (or any other modifier) is to long of a process. Error messages coming up during pt exam in the room

We have had a frustrating experience with three other software vendors and the continued need of IT support to keep the environment connected along with the hassle of updates. The cloud based Eyefinity software has made managing our practice more efficient.

Pros

The cloud based product has decreased my IT costs and the software was easy for my staff to adopt. The product integrates with the EHR and all patient visits are coded and priced automatically.

Cons
