Overall our experience with BuildingConnected has been very positive. It has streamlined how we receive and track bid opportunities and made communication with general contractors much easier. Having everything centralized—plans, messages, and bid information—helps keep our team organized and saves time during the bidding process.

Pros

BuildingConnected makes it easy to manage bid invites and keep all project information in one place. It helps us stay organized with multiple projects, track invitations and communications, and quickly access plans and documents. The platform is easy to navigate and saves a lot of time compared to managing bids through email.

Cons

Sometimes the platform can feel a little rigid when it comes to customizing how we organize projects or documents. It would also be helpful to have more flexibility with file uploads and filtering tools when working with larger projects or a lot of bid invites.

Overall I think this is a great software and extremely helpful for our business and many other subcontractors. It helps organize bid invites and provides a way for new General Contractors to get their bid invites to us, even if they have never worked with us before.

Pros

It is a great way to see all currently bidding and past bid projects. It conveniently lets you submit your proposal to General Contractors, set up a follow up date, and revise your proposal as needed. It also lets you look at the drawings without downloading them through their website.

Cons

Sometimes the feature to look at the drawings doesn't work properly, and you are forced to download them. Also often when it does work it is rather slow, but it is still a nice feature to have so you can see if they are worth downloading or not.

Positive. We have won a few jobs here but I wish there was a way to communicate with project managers.

Pros

Easy access to bid opportunities of all scopes

Cons

The inability to communicate with GC’s on if they won the bid or not. We have many bids that are 3 months old that nobody gets back to you on.

It was great when they had a free version that would allow 3 project to be posted. The costs now have made this unrealistic for me to use. Back to emails and Dropbox.

Pros

Was a great tool for small GCs to post jobs and relay information/files to all trades in one centralized location

Cons

THE COST!! At a starting price of over $3K USD they have basically shut out any small GCs like myself.

Pros

It makes finding out of town bidders a breeze. It’s great for building relationships with subcontractors and keeping on top of the bid process. Being able to see who viewed the invitations, who plans on bidding and who isn’t opening them is so helpful. The ability to send messages to the whole project or just an isolated trade saves so much time.

Cons

It’s a bit expensive and seems to go up every year without adding much additional functionality. The bid leveling tool isn’t all that useful because it doesn’t take into consideration the fact that bids aren’t always apples to apples.
