Before Look DS, updating a screen required either direct hardware access or going through IT, which meant content was perpetually weeks out of date. Departments had given up trying to use the screens at all. Now different departments actively manage their own content, and the screens across campus are actually current, which sounds modest but represents a real shift in how the university communicates visually.

Pros

Managing digital signage across a university is genuinely complicated you have central communications, faculty departments, the students' union, the library, sports facilities, all wanting screen space and all with different content needs. The user roles and permissions in Look Digital Signage are what made this workable. I sit as the central admin, each faculty has moderation rights over their own screen group, and the students' union has a completely separate set of screens that they manage independently. Nobody can accidentally publish to someone else's screens. The RSS integration has been good for keeping news content current without manual effort we pull from the official university news feed. For our main entrance screens, I use multi-zone layouts: university news in one zone, the week's events in another, and an Instagram feed from the official account in a third. We're on a mix of hardware some screens run on existing displays, others use the players on older screens that don't have smart capabilities. Both work reliably.

Cons

It would be really helpful to have more built-in integrations with the organization's tools, in particular, native calendar apps would be a huge help to me (we use the Microsoft ecosystem).

The main problem was content lag — by the time a promotion got designed, printed, and shipped to stores, it was sometimes already past its peak. Now, a flash sale can be live on screens across all stores within an hour of the decision being made. That speed has a real commercial impact, particularly during competitive periods.

Pros

The Zapier integration with our booking system is the main reason I'd recommend Look DS software. Our class schedule updates automatically on the screens whenever a change is made in the booking software, with no manual updates. I also use the built-in Instagram feed app to pull our social content onto the screens near the entrance keeps things fresh without any extra work on my end.

Cons

Logging into a browser on my phone to make quick changes isn't ideal. It works, but it's fiddly for a 9-panel wall.

Switched from

Expired promotional content on screens was a recurring compliance flag that we'd been managing manually someone had to physically visit each branch to verify screens after a campaign ended. Look's scheduling automation eliminated that workflow entirely. We also reduced the time between a rate change decision and screen updates from 2–3 days (waiting for the branch visits) to under 30 minutes for all 9 locations.

Pros

Bank branch signage has specific requirements that most digital signage platforms aren't built around. Content accuracy matters a rate board showing an expired offer isn't just a marketing problem, it's a compliance issue. Look's advanced scheduling with automatic expiry dates is the feature that got this through our legal and compliance review. Every piece of promotional content has a hard end date set at the time of creation; it disappears from screens automatically without anyone having to remember to remove it. We haven't had a single incident of expired rate content showing since deployment across 9 branches. The multi-zone layout in our branches runs three content areas simultaneously: product promotions in the main zone, current regulatory disclosures in a smaller zone, and a waiting time indicator in the third. User roles mean the compliance team updates their zone independently of the marketing team — there's no risk of one overwriting the other. For branches with specific data governance requirements, the on-premise deployment option was essential. Look DS was one of the very few vendors at this price point who offered it. The remote screen management dashboard is something I use weekly — checking which screens are online across all 9 branches, reviewing playback logs, and taking snapshots to verify content without site visits. The audit trail in the log reports has been useful for internal compliance documentation.

Cons

The built-in app library is solid. For banking specifically, I'd love native widgets for live exchange rates, product rate boards that pull from our data sources automatically, or queue management integrations. Currently, those need to be accessed via the API or embedded code, which works but adds setup complexity.

Switched from

[Yodeck](https://www.capterra.com/p/228571/Yodeck/)

We switched from Yodeck because Look Digital Signage offered a more user-friendly interface, better remote display management capabilities, and improved content scheduling features that were a better fit for our growing business needs.

Seven new recurring revenue clients in two years, specifically because Look DS opened project types we couldn't bid on before on-premise enterprise deployments in particular. White label means the client relationship stays ours. I estimate Look DS accounts for roughly 30% of our annual recurring revenue now. For a small practice, that's not a number I take lightly.

Pros

We resell Look Digital Signage as part of our AV practice. The white label capability is what makes it a product line rather than just a tool we happen to use. Full platform rebranding custom domain, our logo, our colour scheme means clients see our brand throughout. That's rarer than it should be.Over two years we've deployed on-premise instances for three enterprise clients with data governance requirements that ruled out any shared cloud platform financial services and public sector, both with explicit policies on third-party cloud. SSO integration meant enterprise IT teams accepted the rollout without the usual objections. Multi-zone layouts are something clients consistently ask for and they're well executed: promotional video, live data widget, and a news ticker on a single screen. Clients see that as premium.

Cons

For flagship retail clients with video wall installations, there's no dedicated video wall content creation mode. You coordinate individual screens manually, which works, and we've delivered good results. But a native video wall editor would let us pitch to higher-end display configurations with more confidence and reduce setup time meaningfully on those installations.

We eliminated the IT ticket queue for screen updates entirely around 6 hours per week saved in coordination time. The safety compliance screens are the bigger story. Expired compliance notices used to sit on screens for days because nobody filed the update ticket. That doesn't happen anymore. From a risk management perspective, that matters more than the time saving.

Pros

Every screen update used to go through an IT ticket. Three-to-five day turnaround for something as simple as swapping a slide. That was the process. Look Digital Signage moved content control entirely to my team and the IT queue hasn't seen a screen update request in over a year. The Power BI integration was the deciding factor in our evaluation. Our manufacturing floor runs live KPI dashboards on six screens, updated in real time, no IT involvement after initial setup. Multi-zone layouts let us pair the dashboard with a company news ticker at the bottom and a weather widget in the corner. User roles are genuinely well implemented regional HR managers handle their own floor screens for local safety notices while HQ branding stays locked at my level. We haven't had an off-brand screen since launch. The 24/7 live chat has been genuinely useful. I've raised edge cases late in the evening and had a human back to me within 30 minutes.

Cons

The built-in app library skews toward consumer and retail use cases. We rely heavily on Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, and while embed code gets me most of the way there, a native integration would be cleaner. More Microsoft 365 depth is the obvious enterprise wish list item not a blocker, but it's what I'd ask for first in a product roadmap conversation.

Switched from

[Scala](https://www.capterra.com/p/79390/InfoChannel/)

We made the switch because the previous system relied heavily on IT tickets for every update, which caused delays and inefficiency, while Look Digital Signage allowed our team to update screens instantly, manage content independently, and automate real-time displays without IT involvement.

Time-sensitive communications used to require contacting each department individually and hoping someone uploaded content quickly. Now I push to all screens in seconds. For emergency notices and campus closure alerts, that's not just an efficiency improvement it's a safety improvement. Worth every hour of initial setup.

Pros

University campus signage is complicated because everyone thinks they own the screens. Eight faculties, 38 screens, one communications team trying to hold the brand together. Look is the first platform that actually matched our organisational structure. Each faculty coordinator has a moderator account scoped to their screens only. I hold the admin account and push university-wide messages closure notices, emergency alerts, event promos to all 38 screens in under a minute. RSS integration pulls our news feed automatically. New story published, it hits the screens. That alone saves several hours a week.

Cons

Setting up the multi-user permission hierarchy across eight departments took real time several focused sessions to configure correctly. The flexibility is there, which is the good news. But flexible means you actually have to configure it. Budget for a proper setup period.

Zero compliance discrepancies between system rates and displayed content since go-live. For a regulated environment, that is the headline outcome. Secondary: branch coordinators spend roughly 70% less time on screen content, which has gone back into customer-facing work.

Pros

Rate boards in a regulated environment are a compliance headache when managed manually. Someone updates the system rate; someone else needs to remember the screen or doesn't, and we have a discrepancy. Look DS removed that human step. Rates are scheduled to update on the exact date changes take effect. Advanced Scheduling lets me set go-live and expiry dates months in advance, which is how I handle every promotional campaign now. Screen groups by branch mean I can push a regional update to 12 branches simultaneously or target a single high street location. Frankly, it's the first time I've felt in control of the branch screen estate.

Cons

The API documentation is functional but light on complex examples. Branch coordinators who wanted to explore internal system connections had to lean on support at each step. Support was helpful every time but richer documentation with worked examples for financial services use cases would reduce that dependency.

I can update our offering quickly which is the main benefit. If I wish to run a morning special, I can do it on-screen within a few minutes. The problem of embarrassing leftover seasonal items has been eliminated now that they have the capacity to be sold out. These days, as soon as we’re sold out of something, I can instantly take it off the display from my phone or laptop.

Pros

As the café manager, I do everything myself. Thanks to this service, we were able to replace our 4 physical menu boards with digital screens, so whenever we change a price we don’t need to print new inserts. I set our brand colors in a template once and now every update is on brand for those colors. After 2PM we automatically switch over to the afternoon drinks menu from our lunch specials, which is especially helpful for dayparting at busy times.

Cons

Given we’re only one location, many of the advanced features seem unnecessary for us. When you first login, it can look a bit crowded given the amount of high-level tools available on your dashboard. The ability to have a simple interface for small single-location businesses would be much easier.

Switched from

After switching to Look, we are getting a lot more features at half the cost. In particular, their 'Offline Playback' and 'Remote Reboot' features are much more reliable than the previous system. Now I no longer have to worry about whether the screen has been updated or not.

Initially we ignored the interactive side, but eventually used QR-triggered content for promotions and surveys. Easier to implement than expected.

Pros

Interactive scenarios, QR triggers, and embedded web content open more creative use cases than static signage.

Cons

Designing interactive flows can be time-consuming and requires a good level of planning, attention to detail, and ongoing effort. It often takes dedication to ensure everything works smoothly, especially when trying to create more complex or customized workflows that meet specific business needs.

I made the switch to gain more flexibility, better interactive features, and a more user-friendly platform that made content management and deployment easier.

We have screens in a space showing announcements, events, and meeting room info. The multiuser access is very useful. That’s been a big shift compared to our previous setup, where everything had to go through one person.

Pros

Look makes it easy to build exactly what we need without fighting the editor. The flexibility is there, but it never feels overwhelming. Our team picked it up quickly and now manages screens independently without constant back-and-forth.

Cons

Some advanced features can be difficult to discover initially without clear documentation or guidance, which may slow down the onboarding process. Providing more detailed tutorials or in-app guidance would make it easier for users to fully utilize these features and improve the overall user experience.
