Pros I like that the payment of processing fees is offered to the donors so transparently. There's no question about where their money is going. Almost all my donors have paid these processing fees, which greatly reduces the costs to my political campaign. Cons The hardest thing about Donorbox was the initial set up with the Stripe account. But, once that was done, everything has worked very smoothly. I have referred others to this service. Pros It’s easy to use. I like that we’re able to set up peer fundraisers and different campaigns pretty easily, and change colors according to our branding. It was easy to setup, and allows for recurring donations. I also like the dedication section where people can write a loved one’s name or make a donation on behalf of someone else. I’ve been using it since 2017. Cons Nothing that I can think of—everything is intuitive. I think it’s a little more expensive than Givebutter now, but after using them for 8 years, I don’t think we’ll be switching. September 17, 2025 5.0 Excellent experience! If you are a small business or non-profit, I think Donorbox is the best choice. Pros First of all, we are a very small non-profit with hardly any money, so the fact that Donorbox lets you start for free is invaluable. We have been able to do all of our initial fundraising through Donorbox and it has been very easy. I was offered and took advantage of an online meeting with a Donorbox staff person who answered all of my questions. And they keep track of so much information for us regarding our donors and donations. For someone who is just starting out in the fundraising world, I think Donorbox has been a fantastic. I did a lot of research before I picked the Donorbox fundraising platform and it has been everything I hoped for and more. So far (about four months) I haven't needed the paid version of the service, but when I get there, I will gladly be willing to upgrade. They provide a great deal of customer support. Whenever I have a question, I can send an email and they get right back to me. Cons Right now I can't think of anything about the service that has been a problem. They have helped me with all of my questions and resolved the minor issues I have had. For example, I couldn't figure out how to embed the donation campaign on my page. They helped me figure out how to do that. For now, we've stayed with the free version, but with a growing organization, we may be looking to upgrade in the near future. The donation forms are easy to set up and embed directly on our website, and donors appreciate how simple the checkout process is. I especially like the recurring donation options. Donors can set up monthly or annual gifts and even manage their own giving through a self-service portal, which saves us a lot of admin time. The ability to accept credit cards, PayPal, ACH, and even Apple/Google Pay has also made giving more accessible. The platform also includes peer-to-peer fundraising, event ticketing, and some solid integrations with tools like Salesforce, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp. For the price, it offers a lot of functionality, and it’s a good entry-level platform for small and mid-sized organizations that want to professionalize online giving without a heavy tech investment. That said, there are a few drawbacks. Donorbox charges a 1.75% platform fee (on top of Stripe/PayPal fees), which can add up if you’re processing a higher volume of donations.
