Pros Course creation Easy to use I like the option/feature of review 360. It allows for quick and easy access to SME and managers for approval and feedback. Cons Margins It can sometimes be difficult to get the margins to do what you want them to do. You have the option to have small medium or large padding but I would prefer spacing similar to Canva. From my time as a student to seasoned ID, my courses look amazing. Any question I have, I can quickly hop onto the support pages or community and find/get an answer. Pros Articulate is always listening to the customer and implement ideas brought up by the community. Speaking of which, they have probably one of the strongest community of users and organizers on the planet. It’s been an exciting time lately seeing all the developments with regards to accessibility features as well. It’s made my life as an instructional designer much easier. The courses look professional and have great advanced features like scoring for quizzes. Cons Certain features like triggers can get very tricky and can be hard to use and understand. The ability to use it to develop e-learning modules and collaborate with other team members during development has been crucial. Pros I like it’s ability to take a lot of complex content and make it more interactive and digestible for users. Cons Storyline can only be used on PCs and not on Mac software. I enjoy the user friendliness and easy customer support or help pages. Cons I don’t like that in Rise360 there is no “undo” button. Sometimes I’m editing a block of text and I accidentally delete my words…. And I can’t get it back. I have to try and remember what I had typed instead of there just being an undo button. I also don’t love the content library search features. When I try to search using more than 1 word for the description, the content library does not populate what I’m actually looking for. It was reasonably priced and they started off with a strong community. But, evidently, all of that was for show, to get customers, because the software has become far more expensive and the community has declined rapidly. Pros Ease of use, online, integrates well with other Articulate software. So easy even a caveman could do it. Cons Expensive and their licensing model has changed. Limited in scope of customizations, sort of cookie-cutter. Same look and feel over and over. If I have run into questions, I always can use their resources to find a solution. Pros I love the versatility it offers. Any learning experience that I design, I know that offers the tools to make it happen. Cons It can be cumbersome to learn initially and definitely requires training. SO many things t does is more seamless than adobe (and I love (Adobe CS) Pros The flexibility it offers for combining PowerPoint into Storyline. It helps our teams of SMEs gather their thoughts in PPT allowing for less back and forth when the piece goes to design. Cons As a Mac user I use a PC when working in Storyline. That makes it easy to start in Rise, jump into Storyline for a custom interaction, and send everything to Review for feedback Cons No 24/7 support Rise is great for speed, but it can feel restrictive. You can’t change layouts much, customize interactions deeply, or adjust design elements beyond what the blocks allow. If you want something highly interactive or branded, you’ll often have to jump into Storyline.
