Pros

Five years ago, I dedicated countless hours to using unfriendly software that severely limited my business's growth potential. Our two inspectors operated on separate computer systems that couldn't communicate, while an office staff member remained oblivious to our daily operations. We relied on separate scheduling and payment processing software, leading to endless nights of working until midnight to complete tasks. It was at that point I realized there had to be a superior solution. A quick internet search for "home inspection software" presented numerous options, with prominently featured at the top. I decided to download the trial version, and from that moment on, there was no turning back.Spectora proved to be a game-changer on multiple fronts. Firstly, it was cloud-based, providing seamless accessibility. Additionally, it accommodated multiple inspectors, and consolidated payment processing and scheduling, all at a lower cost than our previous fragmented systems combined. Most importantly, the realtors were highly impressed with the new reports. The inclusion of pictures, videos, and a "Repair Request Builder" designed specifically for realtors made a significant impact. ### "Like Having An All-Star Employee Only Cheaper"

at worst pays for itself, and at best ends up boosting our revenue by saving so much time that we can easily do 2 inspections in a day with reports completed in the field. Agents love it because of how easy it is to read and navigate. We can load up the report with 250-300+ pictures and helpful narratives without the report feeling bulky. And, best of all, the owners and their team are highly accessible and reliable. We can reach them via the mobile app in the field if any issues arise (which doesn't happen often). It may be more expensive than most other software, but the better way to look at it is you are getting an all-star employee on the CHEAP that does the work of admin and tech support with near super-human capabilities.

Pros

Of all the amazing features and continual growth, the best feature is the highly accessible support team. These guys have saved my bacon in the field because they are responsive and just always "on it".

Cons

Would like a more customizable invoice for when we send it out for payments at closing or for customer records.

It's frustrating to feel nickel and dimed, especially when all I need is a platform that doesn't charge for every little tweak. All I wanted was to remove the word 'home' and keep 'inspection' in my automated text.

Pros

's software gives the best looking, easy-to-use inspection reports in the industry. It also is easy to use to easily automate nearly all of the office work - scheduling, emails, invoicing and payments, etc. It is a no brainer for a new home inspector trying to break in to the industry. The prompt and helpful customer service is also some of the best that I have experienced in any industry.

Cons

The price is higher than most other inspection software companies out there, but you get what you pay for. Occasionally, there can be small bugs here and there, however, that's the price to pay for a company that is always seeking to improve and add functionality.

The biggest benefit is that I do not have to spend hours in the office typing up the reports after inspecting all day out in the field. Allowing me more free time with my wife and kids as well as any other extra things needed for my buyers such as insurance reports, radon tests, etc (ancillary products).

Pros

Basically everything is far superior to any other reporting program on the market.

Cons

Granted the program is one of the most expensive but is worth it. Only con I have is editing annotations on pictures using the mobile app could be easier and user friendly.

Pros

is one of THE most professional looking/operating reporting software systems we have ever worked with. We chose it for those reasons precisely. It is easy to use for our inspectors and equally easy to navigate for our clients/agents. The seamless integration with ISN (Inspector Support Network) is a second reason we chose Spectora over other reporting software systems -- efficient and reliable integration. Lastly, the customer support team at Spectora is zero to none. They are always helpful, cheerful, and work till they get it right.

Cons

The only con that our team can really think of is the pricing, HOWEVER, we understand what it means to offer QUALITY over pricing. In that way, we totally see the BENEFIT and VALUE that offers and it worth paying just a little more to get a professional interface/system.

As much as I love the reporting software I think the scheduling component is my favorite. Having online scheduling is absolutely critical to capturing business that might otherwise be lost, and saving me a ton of time on administrative tasks that I really don't want to do.

Our team at Platinum Plus Inspections unanimously agree that we are excited and greatly benefiting from the well thought out software, which is providing 1) ease of use onsite, 2) better team communication with multi inspectors at one inspection (this is great), 3) 2000% better customer service responses and availability, and 4) 100% positive feedback from Realtors and our clients, 5) saves us time, reducing on-site and post-office work to get the report to the client faster.

This software was ingeniously designed. Every button and ability is a dream. From taking photos, notating photos and narratives onsite, to reviewing before sending to client, to the client and Realtor's amazing reviews and options they have to view the report, review the summary and create an automated list of corrections they can send to the sellers. I have reviewed EVERY inspection software available. Every software company might offer one thing which is unique or nice. HOWEVER, when it comes to making the choice for the best inspection software, which offers THE BEST options in one software, we concluded offers us exactly that. Do your homework. But, for us, we did. And, hands-down, Spectora was and is our choice. Spectora is exactly what our industry leading inspection team needed to have. Spectora is industry leading, just like our personnel and clients.

Having a limit of 3 ratings work. But, I would like to have at least one more rating which I could designate SAFETY. I just saw in SCRIBE's inspection software many many departments of ratings available.

By far, Spectora offers more of the benefits than any other software. It is the best choice I could find. None are perfect. The best features are as follows: it is all web based so information does not get lost on accident, editing report comments on the fly and being able to save them for future use is easy and convenient, editing the report template is simple and easy to learn, and the extremely high level of customer service and professionalism from staff.

It's a bit on the expensive side but as they say, you get what you pay for in life. It is worth paying more for something if it makes your job easier and you're getting great customer service in my expert opinion.

Overall, I do believe is the best software available for report writing, but there is still room for improvement.

Pros

There are several things that I appreciate about report writing software. Time is currency and Spectora certainly minimizes how much time it takes to set up appointments, manage clerical tasks, generate business reports, communicate with clients, and process payments.

Cons

Small user functions within the report building side of the software do not offer functions that other fluid report writing programs provide- such as, quick comments for photos. I use about 150-500 photos in a report, depending on the size of the structure. With a quick comment feature, small captions could be applied to general or common photos of systems, materials, and components with the click of a button, instead of typing out full sentences for each photo. This would shave about 30 minutes to an hour off of the report writing process for me, personally. Having a scrollable multi-file well/window within the report writing page, to pull pictures and illustrations from, would be ideal! That way, the report writing page would not have to be minimized in order to pull pictures and illustrations from a separate window on the screen. It would be nice to have everything fit on one page, instead of having to flip through several windows on the computer screen. This would minimize time spent writing the reports. The customer support is known to be available, but the chat help is spotty and often unreliable. If a question is presented to the chat feature during times of use (likely not normal business hours) the quickest common response time I receive is is the next morning on EST, when I am no longer available. Other times, I am satisfied with with how prompt a response is presented by an online service agent.

Awesome software and customer service. I really like how they can do so much with one app, instead of having to piecemeal it all together. Plus, the visual for agents is great and markets you over and over again. Several clients have used me just because of their wonderful experience with my reports. Plus their marketing team is great if you wanted to use them for that service. It has helped me tremendously. I highly recommend using to grow your business!

Pros

has elevated home inspection software to the modern era. Gone are the days of downloading the software, and piecing together different functions such as accounting, invoicing, report writing, CRM, etc. It's all together in one place with Spectora, and if you must, you can even still integrate some of the old school things you just can't let go of via API. Plus the customer service is undeniably amazing. They want you to succeed, and understand our business well. The home inspection industry is changing fast, and they are the only ones who are at the vanguard setting the bar higher. I see all of the old school names in HI software scrambling to play catch-up. Clients and agents love the report and repair builder. It's really a no brainer to use Spectora and I highly recommend them!

Cons

No much to dislike, really. If I had to pick anything, I would say I want a little more robust photo editing (cropping/zooming), but at the same time, I can do things with photos in that I can't in other software. It's a huge step forward from my prior report writer.

Frustrating. So much basic customer experience is not just missing but detrimental and counter productive. The mission seems to be hyper-corporatized to efficiently redirect and bamboozle customers into figuring it out for themselves and settling for substandard products, services and solutions all while hogtying them into an ever increasing costing structure to pay for the product their still "working their best on with limited resources".

Pros

The user interface design and layout is pleasing to look at. The reporting tool has great potential. The services integrated are almost comprehensive.

Cons

THE SERVICE. The people are knowledgable and highly skilled at very intelligently and politely deferring customers through web chat and directing customers to self-educate research FAQs and highly generic basic functionality videos. With extensive experience using PoS, CRM, LMS, Inventory Management, Marketing, Design and Publishing, and other software I can say this set of tools requires a ramp up learning period an direct access training resources that are not only not offered but defended as user incompetence.

It's been good.

Pros

The software is very well written. It's stable, it works, it does it's job. I seldom have issues, and when I do, the developers are quick to respond with either a workaround or a fix.

Cons

Advanced. Hands down. It's insultingly expensive in how it's priced for what you get. For example, having to pay $3 per inspection to see how much money you've made over a given period of time is just agitating. I can understand wanting to bill more for advanced, but handing over another $200/month on average to get some basic financial metrics is insulting. I'm adding two more inspectors to my firm in the next 60 days - I don't want to hand them an extra $600/month to view some basic metrics. Spectora should charge $99/month for the first inspector, $50/month per inspector after that. Charging $3/inspection is awful.

The most important thing as a home inspector is to individualize your report writing to make it fit your style. offers support, access, and individual tweaking in areas that make our company stand out beyond other inspectors.

Cons

The app restarts when I start an inspection and sometimes it doesn't accept payment the first time. When I want to change something on the Wind mitigation form I have to pull it up to look at it first then find where it is on the software. Also adding things on these forms (AKA Wind and 4 point) is hard if not impossible to do.

I can't sing your praise enough. the software is amazing, thorough and easy to use. My reports are clear, easy to read and my clients always rave about the format. I can breeze through inspections and know I have not forgotten to check something...EVERY TIME. When I first started I felt it was kinda spendy at $100 a month plus the fees for processing payments BUT I now feel it's worth every cent!!! The customer srvs is amazing and I do not say this lightly in a time of poor or marginal customer services being the norm. ALL of their support staff has always been fast, easy to work with, very clear and super helpful....lol even when I think it's their fault and find out later I set something incorrectly myself. AWESOME GROUP! Could not imagine doing my job as well without it. I had over 100 reviews last year 5 stars in a row. You help me present myself as a professional and assist me in being as thorough as possible. THANK YOU ALL!

I love , and all my clients do as well. I get so many compliments on the professional report that we generate and its ease of reading and understanding the information provided to the client.

Pros

I enjoy the ease of use in following the templates that we custom organized to follow our work flow. I am an advanced user and these functions save me so much time in scheduling and coordinating everything that has to happen before, during and after the inspection.

Cons

The hiccups with Next Gen, that I suffered through on some of its first uses and was not happy. I have been very reluctant to try it again. I know I will, but afraid of having a problem in the middle of the inspection. I have read that a lot of folks are using it now and love it so I will be trying it again.

is an all in one software. Im able to edit and tailor my reports and the templates to exactly how i like, which makes performing the inspection while doing the report very time efficient. I also like how inspections can be scheduled by clients or agents, and spectora captures your agreement and payment. Customer service is great too. Very much worth it!

i couldnt transfer the exact software i was using prior but i found a better template to work from so it worked out

My overall experience with has been great. My time to complete reports has dropped drastically, allowing me to be have free nights and weekends. The ease of report writing and the templates are a godsend to me. Most of the time my reports are done onsite, and I just have to review and publish when I get back to the office. I have not yet ventured into publishing straight from the app onsite, although it is an option I may use from time to time.

Pros

The most important feature for my clients is the summary. I have had so many compliments on the ease and use ability of the report summary. My clients are satisfied, and that makes me satisfied

Cons

I don’t like the app being less user friendly than the online version. I use the app to write the report offline; then go back and have to correct, review, and publish it from the online site in order to have all of my changes saved onto the PDF TREC 7-5 form. The app doesn’t always update saved changes to the PDF and there is not a way to force the PDF to update except in the online version.

I've had great experiences with . I truly believe it has made me a better inspector, it has definitely helped me increase my agent returns and pays for itself over and over again every month with the time I save.

Pros

The software makes it easy for my agents and clients to navigate and use. With youtube videos they can watch if they have questions- this frees up my time. Plus with all the features and customer support to guide you through ANY problems, has and continues to save me more time and impress clients and agents.

Cons

It would be nice if would implement some kind of narratives- not only to help with using comments that limit or liabilities but also helps us look at possible defects when inspecting areas we aren't familiar with. For example, Attic Insulation: Between rafters not ok- Insulation installed between the roof rafters is not standard configuration and is conducive to excessive heat buildup in the attic. The rafter insulation should be removed and only installed directly above the interior to be insulated.Not only does this bring to our attention a defect but it also gives us information to make us a better home inspector.

Reason for choosing Spectora

While doing the free trials for different softwares gave me the most freedom to customize my reports and customer support and youtube videos all helped me to learn all the features of the software.

Pros

is a game-changer for home inspectors and clients. No software comes close to the final product that is delivered to clients. Not to mention the ease it provides inspectors with delivering such a refined product.

Cons

Nothing belongs in this box because fixes issues as they arise.

### "Amazing product and service for home inspectors"

Starting your own home inspection company is a daunting idea. With everything offers it’s made the process exponentially easier and less stressful. I’ve been doing it for six months on my own and I don’t know if I would have attempted it without Spectora.

Pros

I am a certified master inspector and I have used for years with a larger company. I was considering going out on my own but was hesitant but once I really dug into what Spectora can do it made my decision so much easier! From reporting software to website building and hosting to taking credit cards, it’s an all in one inspection support shop. There is no better company out there to support the home inspection industry.

Cons

The only thing I would change would be a feature in the app that would require home inspectors to take specific pictures. For example, I take pictures of the oven being off and the water heater and thermostat being set back to its original setting. I would love something that would notate if I haven’t taken those pictures since they are so important.
