Changes to the site were not instant - they took about 24 hours to take full effect. I checked my after one day, the domain connection was working. Changes to your registrar's site are not instant It's best to check your connection after one day.You will know that your domain connection worked - have to enter www before the domain, or it doesn't work (ie., www,davenportprojex.com as opposed to davenportprojex.com ). Be sure to check that www comes up in the address bar. Cons Limited options for access to the application templates for sites. Not very clear guidance on adding background music to a website. I host two of my websites on Format, and will likely never go back! I appreciate the frequent updates, and occasional emails and "tips" the team sends out. Pros The interface is very easy and intuitive, but still offers ways to customize templates to fit your needs. I had found other web building sites daunting, but Format is clean, professional, and lets me focus on actually doing art, instead of biting my nails over web design. I appreciate the frequent updates, and very fast customer service. Cons The price could be a deterrent to some people, but honestly, I'll probably never move my two websites to a different host. Cons There is not anything I can think of that I like least about Format. I guess you can possibly run into another website that looks like yours if they used the same design which looks kind of bad. Pros The easyness of approach in the construction of a webpage available for people like me, that know nothing about html language or programming. The possibility of choosing between different themes to give the best professional look at the galleries showing my photographic works. Cons There are very few things that I like the least of this software, mostly technical. But as I wrote above I have little knowledge of programming. Would love to have more flexibility in fonts and writing parts. And more possibilities to create a cover to start the webpage. I've tried a lot of different website builders (Wix, Squarespace, Wordpress, etc.) but I was excited to see Format advertised as specifically catering to designers and design portfolios. However, it was not intuitive and felt very clunky. I am an experienced web designer and developer, but I gave up trying to make Format work in a short period of time. Cons I contacted customer service before creating an account to verify which types of file formats were acceptable. As a designer, I have various different file formats for photos, videos, and clickable prototypes. Sadly, once you start trying to build your portfolio, you discover that it only allows basic JPEG, JPG, or PNG files. I went back to Wix! Review Source AR Ariadna R. Cons Not enough themes for wedding photography in mind and more options to add in the contact form. The photo galleries don't save automatically like they used to. You can't watermark just one proofing gallery. Proofing doesn't let you know when someone downloads all the images from the download button. You can't add a group page linked to a blog post. Pros Usability is key in the template designs and it gives me freedom of polishing the design to my own needs. The information/help is good and I think the helpdesk chat is very good. I'm always taken seriously and the answers are always straight and not packed in commercial sales type wording. Compared to the big other sites they don't change things dramatically into something I don't need or pay for. It's value for money. Cons ssl is still not available but it's on the list of high priority. Sometimes photos loading time is a bit too slow on broadband lines and 4g. Some of the design tweaking brings in some trial and error which slows down the proces but I can live with that. Its extremely easy to use and provides me just what I need to showcase my work. Cons It has a limited amount of things that you can manipulate. Wix is better for specifics but overall to showcase your portfolio, it does the trick. One thing that I do not like as well is its lack of showing analytics. Some of the formatting needs to be fixed. It is also easy to completely change the design of a whole website without loosing data and time. I do enjoy the option of previewing of new designs with my site Cons Sometimes after a Format update, I can find it tricky to find features or links to update my site again... Cons I have one niggle with my website, where I want the left side bar to go from the top to bottom of the screen, instead of having to scroll. I want my clients to be able to see all the galleries I have to offer, and have contacted customer support about this, although they said it's just a problem with my template.
