“Simply Amazing”

OverallI work closely with developers in numerous Games companie. i administer and monitor these services providing cost reports and assistance where required. I have played games developed on this engine and they are simply sublime
Pros> Increase productivity with better feature and content creation > Integrated with the worlds largest streaming sight, Twitch. > Manage work using modularity making your devs more efficient > Host your game with Amazons other services for a highly available and robust server system. > FREE! It is FREE! You only pay for the other AWS service you use which begs the question, are you on the cloud?
ConsYou are unable to distribute the engine you when you have customised the engine due to licence agreements. This is understandable but still disappointing if you have spent a large amount of time souping it up.

“Lumberyard is a great multi-level program. ”

ProsFrom when it first became available, I've loved using Lumberyard. It's got so many features that are all in one place that you really can't go wrong. It also has improved massively over the years, with more to come I'm sure. Just like anything else, though, you'll want to experience with every tool for your project.
ConsSometimes it would break down on me, but with the level of improvements, I think they're ironing out a lot of issues. I can also see how some things could be confusing for new users in the UI

“Artistic game development.”

ProsLumberyard is good for beginners to make artistic games and the likes.
ConsA bit complex to use. Could not use for the first time because of downloading error. Amazon should provide support for downloading. Even I found the download link with much difficulty.

“Great for making games!”

OverallI have been a big fan of amazon ever since I first got a kindle keyboard. Nothing is truly perfect but they make good products.
ProsGood if you know what the heck you are doing. It can be easy to learn but has a bit of a learning curve to the software.
ConsCan be difficult if you don't know what the heck you are doing. Bit of a learning curve. Takes some time to learn, so need to have some time set to the side.

OverallGreat product to start gaming application
ProsGood native support for C++ Good support for peer to peer and client topology Supports Autodesk Maya or Adobe Photoshop, with all these we can able to create great quality games
ConsTraining is required to start and lack of trained developer to start It would be great if pricing is reduced like other AWS products

“Amazing Scripting”

OverallThis engine has so many good uses, but if used and created properly it can go somewhere. Hopefully they will keep on with the improvements.
ProsYou can do so much for this program and it will definitely animate almost anything you want to design. You can design virtual landscape, open areas, ballparks, and so on that, it's endless. It's still in its early stages and there is so much that it can offer to others if it can only be simplified. It's a designer's dream come true.
ConsComplicated if you can forward through some of the jabber and building a project is very tedious. But if you have time, then it worth the effort. Documentation is awful, but search out for the video tutorials for more help.

“A really good start.”

ProsIt seems to be brimming with potential. It has one of the biggest financial powerhouses behind it, so the support is likely to be there. Cross platform development
ConsIt can be just as cumbersome as CryEngine was. Learning curve, but it's not too severe. Total price is a little much for basic game design.

“Strong Game Engine”

ProsLumberyard is a fantastic game engine, where you can build a plethora of high quality games and apps.
ConsHas a tiny learning curve like most engines, but its doable. Pricing can get a bit expensive compared to other engines out there, but the quality for purchase is great.

“Amazon Delivers The Heavy Lumber”

OverallGreat, great, GREAT software for making simple to complex games with gorgeous graphics and flawless game play. I worked on a game with a buddy who was much more knowledgeable than I am and he was blown away that this software was so complete and free. Amazing product.
ProsSimply beautiful delivery of 3D and 2D graphics. It's breathtakingly stunning. And it's free! Lumberyard also integrates Twitch right into the engine so the movement is flawless and perfect.
ConsThere's really not a lot to dislike about Lumberyard.

“Always good for competition, but not sure if it can compete with Unreal yet.”

OverallI use Amazon Lumberyard, purely for prototyping and experimentation,, interested in seeing where the software goes from here
ProsThe interface is quite simple and the graphical quality is very good. I'm hoping that this will develop down a different route than unreal and create something interesting.
ConsIt just cant compete with unreal or untiy with regards existing training, and portfolio of developed games

“Lumberyard - Achievement Unlocked”

ProsI like how easy it is to bootstrap your game into Amazon's game engine. It provides a lot of functionality right out of the box and helps small development teams to build what they want without the worry of cost.
ConsThere is not a lot of downside to lumberyard. Amazon doesn't lock you into their servers or pricing or game availability.

“All heart, no software”

OverallPoor - although, hopefully, things will change.
ProsIn principle, Lumberyard was an exciting competitor to the Unity and Unreal dominated landscape of game making. Promising to integrate much needed features like streaming integration, it was going to be an exciting tool for indie and educational game developers looking for something new.
ConsHowever, in reality, what came out after the hype died down was a buggy mess. Broken features, code conflicts, and poor customer support unfortunately encourage me to warn others to stay away.

“I really enjoy the general concept of this software, but feel like it could be better.”

ProsThe software in general is really easy to use and its a free cross-platform triple-A game engine that developed by amazon.
ConsOccasionally the application will freeze up causing me to have to restart my computer, which is really annoying to be honest.

“ AWS's free tier enables developers to try out the service with no commitment”

ProsAmazon Web Services allows me to create a virtual machine running Linux so that security, availability, elasticity, reliability, and cost factors are all accounted for. Information Assurance is of top priority, including claims-based authentication, single sign-on, MEAN stack, and secure SSH access with public and private PKI infrastructure to leverage AAA best practices.
ConsAWS needs to improve their java-based browser SSH client. Both Azure and Google Cloud Platform far exceed AWS in this regard.

“I expected more from Amazon”

ProsOverall, the number of things that Lumberyard can do is quite large. Amazon has the building blocks of something really great here.
ConsExecution on just about every aspect of Lumberyard falls short of great. I feel that it's trying to do too many things halfway rather than doing a few really well. I intend to mess with it some more, but it's not making a good impression over other options.
