### "Excellent at first, then just okay..."

Customer service is rarely necessary, but the few times we have needed assistance the results have been slow and frustrating responses.

Pros

Simplicity, issues are rare, price seemed reasonable at first but moved from an untouchable rate to merely competitive within a few years.

Cons

The flat monthly rate was very easy to understand, but the price just keeps jumping inexplicably year over year, more than double where it started five years ago. Classic case of opening with a good deal then taking advantage later.

Overall, this interaction with customer support has been great. \[sensitive content hidden\] was very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. That is not my normal experience with Stax Customer Service.

Pros

Value for Money, Ease of use, and able to follow the payments. The product is great. We do not use invoicing but we have multiple ways to allow a customer to make payments and that is very helpful.

Cons

The fact that our pricing goes up every quarter or six months it seems. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired on a regular basis. The answers we receive are not always consistent. We have had some unique problems that although we are told how to fix it, we get push back from the next person who helps us. Also, the fact that World pay can hold up a customer's refund is appalling. I am working with Stax not World Pay. If my customer wants a refund this should not take long, or I should not have to call and get it released. I have much more to say on this, but it is not the fault of \[sensitive content hidden\] who did a fabulous job today.

We liked the cost at the time and the promise of no increase in fees. That turned out to be a misrepresentation and a large number of the things promised were taken away when Fattmerchant changed to Stax.

Since from transitioning from Clover to Stax two years ago, our company has saved a considerable amount in processing fees not to mention time saved from searching for past invoices. The reporting features and dash board is easy to use, support team is readily available (shout out to \[sensitive content hidden\]), and invoicing and payment plan features are extremely helpful. Highly recommend!

Pros

Transitioning to Stax was quite simple and easy to manage with a user friendly dashboard and available support. Other pluses include customer invoicing feature for online payment requests as well as setting up recurring payment plan options.

Cons

Occasional lag time with reporting delays, we had an issue with QBO syncing as well which resulted in duplicate invoices.

They do offer unparalleled options for card processing with transparent billing and information. The staff is very helpful with the onboarding process, and the sales representatives are delightful to work with.

Pros

The savings are tremendous with this platform. I'm noticing more of my money actually going into my account and not into the creditors. The variety of platforms to which I can maintain and use for processing cards is fantastic. The ease of obtaining reports and information on past transactions is super easy.

Cons

Customer service is very difficult to deal with. They do not offer 24/7 customer service and there is no direct phone line to any human being. They mostly use email and online chatting to discuss issues. When problems arise over the weekend, it can be difficult to get someone to fix things quickly, but they do get fixed.

Outstanding. I'm busy so when I find a service I can trust and not question their practices, I stick with them. We've been with Stax for longer than I can remember at this point, and I don't plan on going anywhere.

Pros

We've been with them for years. Always great service. \[sensitive content hidden\] is fantastic! Clear, concise and explains things very well. I always get a follow-email to see if there is anything else I need from her which is great because I usually forget to ask her something! :)

Cons

Nothing. It's the easy button where credit card processing is concerned. No one loves paying credit card fees, but since we have to, we're happy to have Stax.

Overall, it has been a positive experience compared to other merchant services. When looking at the fees divided by the collections, it's definitely the lowest rate I've seen so far.

Pros

The rate is the lowest I've seen among competitors. The system is very easy to use and requires zero training. A lot of capabilities as well (ex: can send a payment link to customers as opposed to taking payments over the phone). Customer support is very easy to deal with as well.

Cons

If you're not careful looking at the "other fees," they could be charging you a small amount monthly for a service you never signed up for. Sometimes these fees just show up out of nowhere.

We had good experience with Stax folks even before when it was FattMerchant they had good customer service.

Pros

Easy integration and support.. Money transfer is quick and usually is next day. We have not had any bad incidents.

Cons

There is flat fee for processing as your charges go up that means you are doing well and your monthly fee goes up which we are not crazy about..

### "Would not recommend Stax"

Terrible process with poorly trained sales reps and customer service agents. I was told everything would automatically transfer over from our old processor. This was not true. I had to manually enter hundreds of autopayments. We were also told batches would automatically close out at the end of each day, also not true. We realized nothing was coming into the bank account and it cost us an enormous sum of income. Very poorly trained sales reps that were only motivated by their commission. It has taken me over 1 month to recover this income by calling hundreds of patients to re-collect payments. It made us look terrible! It was not worth the savings promised per year.

Pros

Cost savings. We were told about $10k in annual savings. After all the fees from onboarding, etc, I think the actual annual savings was closer to $3,000.

Cons

The transfering process. Stax did not activate the auto batch as promised costing the practice over $200,000 in loss income, which took about 1 month to get back. We are still missing over $15,000. Because of this I would not recommend Stax to anyone.

Onboarding to a bit of time. They requested a bunch of documents because we were considered a "high risk" business.

It has been a long and convoluted process to resolve all of our issues, but Stax Support has stuck with me, and resolved everything. Particular praise for \[sensitive content hidden\], who not only got us to the point of operating with successful integration, but responded promptly in an "emergency" situation during our first store conversion. \[sensitive content hidden\] also helped through many topics, and Josue contributed as well. Thanks to all.

Pros

As a franchise support rep myself, the Stax technical support team has been my point of contact and contributed most experiences.

Cons

In general, our franchise setup seemed "foreign" to Stax (and \[sensitive content hidden\]) personell overall, but they were tenacious, and got things resolved.

Very good! The contracts upon set up process were very confusing and a lot of the fees didn't pertain specifically for what we would ever need. Beyond that everything has been good.

Pros

Credit card payments are very easy to process for any user. Love that we have access to see all payments that are processed in a user-friendly portal. Highly recommend Stax payment processing!

Cons

Portal access can't be set up for different locations by me (admin) and we have to reach out to a STAX rep to get this set up.

Pros

Lower fees Next day payment \[sensitive content hidden\] my CSR is fantastic Not overkill on the software functionality, but could be a little more sophisticated.

Cons

The POS Terminal leaves much to be desired. It constantly loses its WIFI connection even when WIFI is present and allowing several other pieces of equipment to function properly. I have had Comcast out to certify that everything is functioning correct on my end and I am on my second terminal in less than a month. Currently I am running on Bluetooth tethering to my phone to function. Extremely frustrating. I want to make this work, but I am almost out of patience.

Excellent experience overall. The system is simple to navigate and easy to learn. Super user friendly, and whenever a issue arises, their support staff handle it quickly and tactfully.

Pros

Stax is by far the most user friendly payment processor I've ever used. It is quick and easy, and give customers a variety of way to submit payment. Their support staff is also fantastic. I get quick solutions and support and the techs are always friendly and knowledgeable. Navigating the system is simple and it's easy to learn all the ways to utilize the system quickly. The ability to invoice clients and email them directly is so convenient.

Cons

I have not had any cons thus far in my experience with Stax. I've been using them for about 2 years now.

Overall, my experience improved significantly once I was able to get assistance. However, the process of returning the extra terminal that was accidentally sent to me was more difficult than expected.

Pros

The best thing about Stax is how easy it is to operate. The interface is intuitive, and I didn’t need much time to figure things out.

Cons

While the platform is very easy to use, I was disappointed by how difficult it was to get in touch with someone over the phone. The lack of accessible phone support made resolving issues more frustrating than it should have been.

very good experience with customer service and bank deposit transfer. We have no issue in regard to deposits, all transactions are accounted for.

Pros

easy to use and navigate website. Just browsing through the fields, I was able to find the reports I need and the daily deposits I am looking for

Cons

I have to sign in to another website (Payments Insider) to print the monthly statement. The monthly statement is not available in the Stax portal.

The best part is the quick response - even when submitting a ticket! I can literally just wait a few minutes and know that someone will email me back pretty quick with an answer to my question.

Pros

I prefer chat BUT even though you may sometimes have to do "a ticket" - it doesn't take long for someone to reply.

Cons

Would be nice to have access to your processing limit amount somewhere inside your account. Between my two businesses I have a hard time remembering what is what.

We have been with Stax for ~8 years and it's been good. My only complaint is they have not updated system to integrate with auto matching payments to QB in 8 years....maybe needs a little more research/development.

Pros

Great customer service, I appreciate \[sensitive content hidden\] being available on a Saturday afternoon to assist me in getting into Cardx.

Cons

The thing I like least about Stax is that is does not integrate with Quickbooks by auto matching the transactions. I have to go in manually every month and match them.

Pros

I've had invoicing questions for the last 6 weeks and was able to resolve them while working with \[sensitive content hidden\].

Cons

I originally worked with Cole but the ticket got closed out and I wasn't able to resolve the issue while working with him directly. So I had to call back in a few times and send multiple emails.

Cons

Nothing bad to say, every team member is great and handles everything in a timely manner. In every situation we ran into, the problem has been resolved.

### "If credit card processing is a major source of cashflow, DONT USE STAX"

Switched over to Stax at the beginning of 2025, all was well, ran approx. 450 transactions a month, was close to $1mm in revenue through them and they froze my merchant account without warning. The freeze started on a friday and lasted the whole weekend (in which we were working and running cards). The total they froze was $45k in revenue. Customer service was awful and acted like this wasnt a big deal, to a small business its a very big deal. Never could get a direct phone number to speak with someone through this whole incident, email only. Took me 14 days to for them to release my funds. But you can bet they took there fees and monthly membership out right on time (before they released the funds). I requested a two month membership refund (which wouldnt even cover the cost of money I had to borrow to float this cashflow nightmare) and they refused. If you own a small business and credit card processing is an important part of cashflow DO NOT USE STAX

Pros

Nothing special about their processing verses my previous company, was promised better rates and im not even sure that was happening

Cons

Horrible customer service. The savings pale in comparison to the pain and heartache of dealing with them.

Very difficult changing bank accouts Was upset about the situation called 10 times submitted paperwork 3 times and it took a full month to get it in order

Pros

Love the cost associated with monthly use. Stax is almost $2500 per year cheaper than many competitors.

Cons

Payments take to long. A Thursday sale does not get paid until the following monday. Other companies pay in 24 hours and on weekends.
