- Different languages for the user, eg English, French, German: it's very important that the language feet the one of the user

Cons: - Currently no URL when filtering per label
- Detail panel of a task: should be bigger

Pros: Easy to use, logical, easy for communication with other team members, history of communication and project history works perfectly for me.

Cons: I don't have anything special to state as bad sides. Maybe that it could be free but that is not realistic. It is anyhow cheaper than competition.

Overall: It saves tons of my time, better organization and communication with team members.

Pros: Ease of use. Our team is effectively able to enter in new projects, update projects and tasks, with minimal effort. The reporting is very good and the canned reports are all we've needed.

Cons: Would like more Agile possibilities. Would also like an iOS app for Apple computers and a better iPhone app.

Overall: Inexpensive project management without complicated entry.

Pros: Having a spot where everything lives is great! Being able to track hours within the project management app is a real plus!

Cons: The ActiveCollab calendar is not well developed. Having calendar items tied to tasks is not intuitive nor useful.

Pros: the ability to track hours and project management is great. the interface is simple enough, our clients are able to easily navigate the program .

Cons: to utilize the incredible calendar feature - everything is tied to the task function. active collab is built to function as your one-stop shop for all project management, billing, hour tracking, calendar management, etc. we don't need all of those features for our company - so it would be great to just plug events on the calendar without creating/assigning tasks.

A joy and painless way to get a group of people on the same page to create and maintain a website.

Pros: That I can assign tasks easily to the right people to get things done that are out of my range of skill. I really enjoy how easy it is to attach pictures and files to the tasks so they can see what I am talking about. Sometimes words are not enough.

Cons: I have not really found a con to this plateform just yet, but I am sure that the more we use it something might reveal itself.

Pros: The ability to switch between list, card and Gantt chart views let individual team members the ability to work in a way that they prefer, and helps us plan the workload effectively.

Cons: Creating project templates is laborious - it would be great to be able to duplicate /move tasks and sub tasks to new templates more easily.

Pros: The ability to easily change workflow and/or views within each project is fantastic. See your projects from all angles.

Cons: When a task is marked as "complete," it disappears, along with all the comments attached to it. Would be better if tasks were crossed out (or grayed out) to keep things visual.

Pros: My favorite part of this software is the ability to keep my tasks organized. I like the satisfaction of being able to check off when I finish a project.

Cons: I dislike the I can't prioritize subtasks. If I was able to do that, it would be easier to keep my daily tasks in order

Cons: Need to imporove scroll options if thae task list is more than 20, it will be better to improve this section and moreover good

Pros: quick sign up, quick import of lists, able to get up and running easily. analytics are pretty good as well.

Cons: the more advanced and complicated campaigns weren't so easy to set up - i ended up getting someone who was skilled in this to do it for me.

Pros: The number of features ActiveCollab has feels endless! Powerful and simple, this well designed program has taken our project management to the next level in terms of organization and collaboration. Being that ActiveCollab is cloud based, we can have access to our projects any day, time, or location.

Cons: ActiveCollab is probably not a great solution for small businesses due to the higher cost. ActiveCollab also in our opinion has limited multiproject vision.

Pros: active collab is a good app for team project management with synchronization in the cloud from a server.
provides a lot of tools, such as: task management, collaboration between the team, real-time monitoring ... where we can maintain a project in a very organized with a list of tasks.
and among its tools, the ones that stand out most in this application are the invoices. It allows to issue invoices easily for the work that is being developed and thus save time and receive payments in a better way.

Cons: We can obtain this application with monthly plans that adapt to the work to be developed. but it depends the plan that is contracted could be costly for the project

Pros: We've been using ActiveCollab since version 1. We needed more features and flexibility than other project management systems provided and we also were looking for an invoicing system. ActiveCollab provided all of that in one package and we could buy a license to run on our own server instead of paying monthly fees. This pricing model was very attractive for us along with the extra features to make the system fit our project management workflow, made ActiveCollab an easy choice.

Cons: The mobile app isn't the best. For those who heavily rely on using their project management system on mobile, this might be something to consider. I'm not a fan of the themes in the theme option, but if using the self hosted version, then you could potentially adjust styling to fit your business better.

ActiveCollab was a staple of my daily work a couple years ago.

Pros: We love the ability to create a to-do list to share with your team. Every so often our Manager will create a to do list and our team will communicate through Active Collab to check off the to-dos.

Cons: We absolutely love the service and understand it should be expensive given what it does, but if I did have to make one recommendation it would be to lower pricing.

Overall: Ideal software fro creating a to-do list for your team. This tool has allowed our team to communicate and collaborate effectively.

Pros: The time tracking desktop app is great, giving both a list of assigned tasks and allowing time spent on them to be recorded quickly and easily.

Cons: Notification emails would benefit from being able to set up schedules for reminders when tasks are due for completion.

Pros: When we can to see the Activity and all the information about our project with the dates and answer from the customers.

Pros: Setting up projects, tasks and users is straightforward, and it's easy to see what tasks are assigned to each user.

Pros: In the four months that I have used Active Collab, it has been an easy process to stay on top of tasks and projects and log hours. It allows us as a company to share information through an effortless interface.

Cons: Because Google Docs is linked to our emails, we use it more often. It makes it easier to share tasks and notes because it is more widely used.

Pros: My team has used many PM tools, but AC by far is the one that they ACTUALLY use on a daily basis. This is because the UI/UX is so uncomplicated, and the customizable views appeal to left and right-brained users (Card system vs. lists vs. calendar views).

Cons: My team would love to see the ability to assign a task to more than 1 person, and also to create project 'groups.' We have 2 sides to the company and would like to group each department's projects into their own group vs. all of them being lumped together.

Overall: ease of use, great ui/ux

Customer support is useless. Don't expect any help

Pros: Intuitive, easy to use and edit. Works great as a project management software. Can very easily move tasks and things around and customize you page to see what you want to see.

Cons: Timer app doesn't upload your time to the server so it's useless to use the app and it's a huge pain to go in and log time manually in each individual task. Don't purchase this if you want to use for logging time. Wish the timer app functionality was also built into the online page.

Pros: As a graphic designer, communication is key, and this helps keep projects in line and on point. It's well organized lists of current work, status, and file sharing help the proofing process, and keeps key players in-the-loop. Time management and tracking is also a big plus.

Cons: Project Management can be a bit overwhelming while performing work: keeping tabs on proof rounds, comments, and new orders. The demands for multitasking weighs down productivity, so it's up to the users to manage expectations as well. There is no middleman.

Overall: Good project management, communication, and file sharing features.

Pros: It's fast, user-friendly, and intuitive. It supports teamwork within our web design company, and the support is amazing.

Love that there's a mobile app and a desktop timer app to keep track of certain task's time.

Cons: I'm honestly struggling to think of anything. Perhaps the search area could remember previous searches when you click in it, but that's really an advanced thing that I just thought of today.

Pros: Diversity of features. It covers calendar integration, task management, expense and time tracking, client estimates and invoicing is integrated, discussions with clients are threaded and neatly organized at all times, file uploads that act as a mini-Dropbox for yourself and your clients, notes, facebook-style timeline of the activity within each project... And I haven't even touched on the level of customization, multitude of extensions (Zapier included), scalability (with self-hosted options!), and the iOS app that works with either cloud or self-hosted versions (our clients LOVE the app).

We love ActiveCollab because of it's diversity. That's the one reason that in our opinion, it's simply irreplaceable. Having to replace it would be like adding tripling the administrative work on our plates. It replaces the need for multiple separate services that do each of those things separately. Who wants that when you can have one single login to one single system that can rule them all? ;)

SIMPLY. IRREPLACEABLE.

Cons: The iOS and Android apps needs some work. They don't do as much as the desktop version, so they feel limited. They don't really take advantage of features like gestures or multi-touch, which every smartphone has.

We'd really like to be able to upload more than just pictures from the camera roll; some kind of file picking, or option to upload to ActiveCollab from another app (share sheets) would go a LONG way. Optimization for tablet-size screens would be sweet too, along with the simple ability to make text in the app bigger or smaller, so it's easier to read.

The calendar allows for syndication via subscription links, but stopping there feels premature. It would help a lot to be able to integrate to Calendar apps (via CalDAV), since the calendar isn't available on the mobile app either. It would be really nice so that we can add or edit events from our native calendar apps of choice.

Support is fantastic, and extremely knowledgeable. We run a self-hosted installation, which is more economical for us, but we don't have pros running our server environment. That task falls on us, teaching ourselves as we go, and it feels like support will drop clues about what an issue is, instead of going the distance and going in themselves to help fix the problem. Granted, that's more of a problem with /us/, since we're business administrators and not experts in server management. But support will not abandon you. They've always got your back, no matter how tough the problem!

Pros: How easy it is to export the time records, When I'm writing a report it's super easy and helpful. The Timer application is really helpful, I can just start the timer and not think about it.

Cons: Although you can create cards, I really like having the columns where I can set the tasks in appropriate columns like In Review, In Progress, Done, Not Started.

Pros: I own and operate a company that specializes in creative strategy and marketing/PR services and this is a good fit for us. I spent many months and went through quite a few trials researching a software that had as many features combined that we were looking for. We settled on ActiveCollab and we're very happy with them. It's a great option without the price tag and disorganization the later versions that Basecamp brings. I like the customization features as well as the billable categories for tracking and reports. We work with contractors in our business and we like the ability to assign tasks and hide back office items from the client. Their customer service has been very responsive and helpful throughout our set up and we're overall very happy with the product and functionality for our needs. Overall good UX / UI.

Cons: We're finding the reports options are a little bit limited, however it hasn't been a huge issue. We're getting most of the data we need. We really wish we could assign tasks to multiple people, but that seems to be a common theme among these software options. I don't understand why as we have many tasks that are worked on by multiple people. This carries over into the time tracking app. If you aren't assigned a task, it won't show up in the time tracking app for you to track against. However the work around is you can add a time report in the desktop version after the fact to any task regardless of who it assigned to. The budget feature per project is nice, however, we wish we could break it down further by task list. Their great customer service has passed this along to the management and dev team for consideration so fingers crossed it will be coming in an update at some point.

Overall: ActiveCollab keeps us organized and on task. It's a great snapshot of our client work at any given point. We have many moving parts, and ActiveCollab allows us to really stay on target with our goals and on task with our clients.

Pros: Easy to generate projects, create task lists, tasks, subtasks, set a status or assign to a co-worker.

Cons: There are a few childhood diseases e.g. bugs, at some points no color picker etc. But nothing big, so it does not hardly disturb your workflow - but still a little bit.

The software is a good deal for the price. It allows us to keep track of projects and communicate.

- a lack of folders to contain information makes it hard to find things at times (we tend to use notes a lot, but then have trouble finding where the notes are... this may be due to user error, but it would be nice to have a list view of all notes instead of just the project titles)
- the fact that individual Notes change position depending on when they were edited, makes it harder to find things
- formatting in Notes is not very robust--difficult to correct formatting errors when copy-pasting text

Pros: How easy is to create projects and tasks and assign various people to the jobs. We really appreciate the flexibility and being a web tolls is a great benefit.

Pros: I love the fact that it's linked to my email account, so if there is a new post I know about it quickly! It's also great that I can reply to threads directly from my email, that feature is so helpful.

I like that the threads within ActiveCollab are easy to keep track of, so no more wading through emails trying to find a reference to something!

The interface is quick and easy to use, and it's great being able to tag co-workers in threads to grab their attention.

Cons: There isn't much to be honest, but I suppose I would like it if the software took me directly to recent activity, as when there are a lot of projects sometimes I find it hard to navigate my way to the thread I'm looking for. But that's a minor quibble!

Other than that, I really enjoy using the software.

Overall: Ease and speed of use, ability to tag co-workers, review discussions easily and keep track of tasks.

It gets the job done, but is relatively cumbersome.

Pros: - Many features in one - task management, time tracking, invoicing and file-sharing
- Reporting is extensive - from team members velocity to client invoices
- Ability to customize reports to get the specific information relevant to your team.

Cons: - UI could be improved, the learning curve is somewhat tedious
- It loads slow, which is problematic if you use all their features (i.e. if you use it every few minutes).
- Time tracking is not connected directly to tasks.
- Agile task management is not up to par with other PM tools.

Pros: It's easy to use and has a lot of features for the price. It has been very reliable and has great recovery features such as saving incomplete comments if one navigates away from the task and later comes back.

Cons: Subtasks are pretty limited in scope, and it's not easy to convert a task to a subtask and vice versa. Sometimes when we setup a project, we just want to get everything in there as a task. Later when we want to refine the tasks into higher level/lower level (basically create subtasks from existing tasks) we end up not using subtasks because we would lose all of our comments and other meta data that may be saved to the task as a top-level task.

Pros: Simple user interface, easy to add projects and templates, team can enter hours with ease [online or using the AC timer], visual tracking of projects in calendar and reviewing hours and costs is a breeze. Also, setting up sub-tasks and timelines is intuitive. This has been a great addition to our workflow and a refreshing change from the previous clunky system we were using.

Cons: There's a bit of repetition needed when creating sub-tasks clearly if you're avid users of the Timer [which we are]. If you don't add the client name before the task it gets' lost with other tasks. Be great to be able to add time [not just date] for due dates.

Pros: Active has been amazing for our company, the ability to create tasks and sub tasks for each of our client projects has organized our way of operation. We can then assign each task to its appropriate department and assign who needs to work on it. Furthermore, we keep track of notes and discussion added to each tasks. Recurring tasks is also something very useful.
Active Collab is the best thing that happened to us!! We've been advising many clients to start using this software.

Cons: One thing is that the 'Search' option is not very detailed..

Pros: It is easy to use, all of our employees can use it easily, and the fact that it has an app for our employees to use in the field off their devices is very efficient

Cons: The reporting feature I feel could use a little work. When you first look at it, it appears a little overwhelming. It is functional and does the job, but if you were to work on improving the software, I would recommend starting there.

Overall: Our everyday management of the municipality runs through this software. We are better able to make staff more accountable and keep projects on track by assigning tasks with timelines to specific employees. We are also able to pull reports to assist with yearly reviews for our employees to see how much work was completed throughout the year.

Pros: The product is easy to understand. I like that the product is process orientated and it creates achievable goals within the larger network of the org.

Pros: We use ActiveCollab in a fairly basic way when compared to the layers of functionality it offers. We use it track time spent by individuals in the team across the many projects we work on. Gives great daily / weekly reminders regarding tasks and any that have gone over due dates.
The fact that you can put due dates for tasks is great and even better that you don'y HAVE to have a due date for tasks.

Pros: As a designer myself, I really like the information architecture and the simplicity of the UI. The notifications are also very useful and well designed by establishing clear context. Pros: Lots of detailed helpful features which don't complicate the interface but are great when you start using them. Customer support has pointed some out when I put in what we thought was a feature request... but it already existed and I'd missed it.

Actively developed and continually updated without annoyingly changing things unnecessarily or 'fixing' anything that isn't broken.

Cons: Using Elastic Search as the only available search feature is limiting, as it's difficult to host and especially so in a shared hosting environment. Without Elastic Search, there's not even a simple text search available for project/task/comment description.

There's a couple glitches that pop up from time to time but customer support has been responsive about them and some of our suggestions have been included as feature requests.

Overall: Increased project efficiency, improved client satisfaction through better scheduling, better communication, and giving clients open access to interact with us on project tasks (while easily limiting them from internal discussions they don't need to see).

Saved time on recording project data and improvements/lessons learned, saved time invoicing thanks to time tracking and integration with accounting software, and have a centralised document store for internal use (apart from client projects) without needing to manage a duplicate access permission system.

So far so good, we use it in our firm to manage tasks and comunicate when I do home office.

Pros: Practicality, we can easily share files, screenshots. See projects other colleagues work on etc. I Also like commeting by answering an email.

Cons: Time tracker could be updated, I like to use TopTracker on my personal projects but it is nice to have automatic times in AC. Also, the mobile app is really bad, it could be a powerfull tool if made right.

Been using Active Collaboration for a few years now after a switch from Basecamp. Never looked back!

Pros: I like the fact that everything is contextually linked, you can dive into a task from a calendar, report, email - anything really.
As a manager it's great for checking workload and distributing tasks efficiently. I've been using ActiveCollab for a while now in different organisations, so much so I recommended we get the self-hosted version.

Cons: The inability to email direct to other modules like conversations and files unlike Basecamp which does allow it. That and not being able to add tasks from the calendar. That would be awesome.

Cons: It's difficult to think of cons.. but I guess one thing that can sometimes get repetitive are the daily reports that get emailed to me.. however I understand that for most people this can be useful. Pros: The way time is tracked against projects and then syncs with Xero saving hours of work. It has replaced 3 different systems I used to have to use.

Cons: Takes a little learning to work out how best to get the most out of it, but that is the same as any software.

Overall: Its an all in one system which links work, communication and billing (with Xero integration) for my team and clients. Much better communication, and saving heaps of time with a very easy way of tracking and invoicing for billable hours.

I've been using it for years, wouldn't replace it

Pros: I like the simplicity of the system. We had used other solutions before and it always seemed like they were trying to do too much. For general project and time tracking, this has served us well. Even more importantly, our clients have liked using it.

Cons: I do wish that the reporting was a bit more useful. It's not that easy to aggregate time for a client into one report. When we used MavenLink, that was one advantage it had over AC.

Pros: - Simple, clean UI
- Easy to learn
- Clear structure (teams, projects, categorized task lists) that works well for us
- Ability to sort things in the My Work list, so I can arrange my priorities for the week and then easily reorder things as tasks are completed.
- Integrates well with Dropbox
- Powerful customizable reports (ex. can easily see what got done in the past week on project A, or can get a clear portrait of what employee B did for the last month)

Also, when you're in the middle of writing something (ex. a comment or a note) and get interrupted, it *retains* what you wrote (even if you didn't submit it and no one else can see it). This has saved me so much effort, since it's hard to juggle doing things with documenting them.

Cons: - The Asana importer didn't work for me. This resulted in a huge amount of effort migrating projects and tasks by hand.
- AC emails you every time you're added to a project, and you need to be part of a project to see what's going on in it - we use this for workplace transparency, so there are a lot of projects and the notifications are irritating
- Can't easily transform a task into a project
- The My Work interface doesn't automatically refresh when there's an update on one of my projects, so I can be in AC all day and still miss some notifications (unless I enable email notifications, which I dislike).

I've been working with ActiveCollab for a while now, and it's by far one of the best project management tools I have used.

Overall: I find it very easy to work with. I have already adviced people to use it, because I really like to work with it. It's also not expensive, which I find a very important asset.

Pros: The platform makes communicating with team members a breeze. We have a multitude of projects and tasks within the three departments - A/C helps keep everything organized and on track. LOVE the landing screen "My Work". The calendar view is awesome for our morning meetings. It is great that we can filter by person or project on the calendar. It's a robust feature that other platforms did not have. Really enjoy the notifications when I mention a team member. The robust area within a project including Tasks List, Discussions, Files, notes, Time, Expenses, Activity is great. Not only does it encourage collaboration it fully supports remote work. On the task list, we can drag/drop tasks. Filter by assignees, tasks lists, due dates, or completed tasks. You can also review the overall project progress. A/C has some great reporting features. I like how we can star projects. Simple features like that are NOT overlooked in the A/C platform.

Time tracking, invoicing, and estimates functions look great. We haven't used them yet but we will eventually. I appreciate the pricing. The customer support is quick and responsive. Our team has embraced the platform and I feel we will continue to use it for years to come. I would recommend the platform to others.

Cons: Disclaimer: We use it a bit outside of its intended purpose. Our group is Marketing, Web Development, and IT. Although there are a ton of project-based objectives within the departments there are some marketing functions that are not project based. This is the biggest thing I've got it's not a deal breaker. Maybe extend the software to include flexible user accounts or setup different types of project areas. That isn't necessarily project oriented.

Minors:
Recurring tasks are a bit of a pain to setup the first time
Multiple different calendars confuse people sometimes and they end up creating a calendar for themselves.
Maybe we could setup tasks requiring a sign-off? Maybe this is already a feature and I don't know how to do it yet?

Pros: ActivCollab is really easy to pick up.
As a newly formed global team it has made our lives so much easier. We tried Asana and Basecamp before settling on ActivCollab due to the fact that its not overcomplicated and meets our needs.
Support are always quick to reply and fix bugs and have even taken on board feedback and implemented suggested changes too.

Cons: It would be nice to be able to use emojis!
We've experienced the occasional glitch but they usually get fixed quickly once we report them.

Pros: Variety of functions. To-do and project management. Time tracking and invoicing and reports. For agenies, consultants and other service providers it is all very convenient. Plus it works seemed on Mac - even with an own desktop app and Mobile app.

Cons: Export functions of graphs and reports can be improved. Role system is sometimes not flexible enough, but they always keep you updated on what is going to be improved next so I'm sure it's going to come soon.

Overall: Collaboration improvements: every one knows what we are up to in which part of the project and as a manager you can keep track of results and challenges.

Pros: While some project management systems try to force their own project management paradigms, ActiveCollab allows you the freedom to decide how you will manage your projects. Kanban? Click a button. Gannt? Click a button.

You can easily manage milestones, tasks, files, discussions, time-tracking et al. however needed and have every feature you'll need or want available.

Their support and development has been amazing. Quick replies, quick changes to the core product for quality-of-life requests.

Cons: Rich text could use some work as adding formatted content will sometimes yield awful results.

Needs a better way to sort/view items in "My Work" based on tags and deadlines e.g., view all tasks due that week or all view all time based on job types.

A responsive design and more fluid UI would also be a welcome change.

Overall: Flexible, robust project management with great support.

Pros: This is an easy to use project management system, which suits our small agency well. It is great for tracking the progress and edits on tasks within projects and campaigns, although some functionality could still be bettered.

Cons: Very annoying that tasks can only be allocated to one person as we have multiple people working on one task, that would need it on their 'My Work' section. We use the commenting feature to include everyone, and the subscribers feature, but it doesn't show in people's My Work tab which does cause us some problems.

Pros: The fact that you can manage very easily multiple tasks in categories and edit them. Also, the time and task review reports are very useful for a complete overview of the work.

Pros: I was looking for specific features in a project management tool, like hiding certain tasks from cleints, but being able to include the staff I wanted in them. ActiveCollab is very handy and helpful, keeping things well organized and it has flexibility in how you want to use it. There are lots of handy features that make the user experience great. Pros: ActiveCollab is really easy to use and on top of all it works really fast and smooth. We used to use JIRA for our project and task management but compared to it, AC is way faster and really better overall for managing a lot of smaller projects. Also, the option choose to see task lists in Lists or Columns is an amazing feature that gives you a lot of flexibility.

Cons: When the internet connection is not good, some pages seem to never load. Also, sometimes the Timer application is a bit too generous when logging work hours.

Overall: Our company's organization and productivity increased greatly.

Pros: 1. Nice and easy-to-use interface. No issues with using it for several hours a day.
2. Several nice feeds: global (across all projects), project-wide and personal.
3. Ability to estimate and then track time for a given task.
4. We are an agency and our clients are REALLY NOT eager to use various task-trackers that different agencies push onto them. Thankfully, you can respond to any ActiveCollab comment via email so our clients do not even need to open ActiveCollab to collaborate with us. Meanwhile, we have all messages and comment in a nice and clean order, all inside our comfy ActiveCollab interface.

Cons: At some point we decided to move to a self-hosted version of ActiveCollab. By that point we've been using ActiveCollab for a while and our database (including all the files) was about 150GB. Unfortunately, it took about 6 weeks (from 16/10/2017 to 30/11/2017) for the guys over at ActiveCollab to provide us with a link to download our data.

Overall: It is our primary task tracker that we use for each and every project we work on.

Wish this was more business friendly.

It's easy to see completed projects which is handy to see what you had done on each project
