I am not sure it maybe due to older phones, but our school has struggled some with this. Overall it is a great improvement from radios. In the event of a real emergency our radios would not be a viable option due to first responders using radios. Pros This software allows my district to ensure that everyone is accounted for in an emergency. We can literally know that every child and staff member is safe within 5 min. Cons You must show that you are safe and check in first before you check in your class or you lose the ability to show yourself as safe. Teachers automatically want to check students in and often create an error with this process. I wish that could be reversed. Pros I was handed this software to set up by my superintendent and told to run with it. I did a lot of the initial set up and photos myself which was time consuming but allowed me to understand the features early on. However, as the software has improved, customer support has been incredible in getting my buildings and accounts up to date! If there's a problem, they are on it same day and resolving according to my needs. I believe its worth every penny of investment since the overall safety plans created match the state Ohio's needs and make filing annual certification much more effective. In the event of an emergency, its easy to access and provides a unique and interactive tool for all first responders! Cons The line up of products is incredible. The oly pushback I have had is implementation with teaching staff. Administration understand how useful it it and how effective it can be.NavigatePrepared has provided tools to counter pushback and make this product more efficient so now its all a matter of time on my end! They make it very easy to create, develop, and use safety plans, quick reference flipcharts, as well as integrate with a student information system for tracking our students during a drill or emergency. They also provide great training and webinars and work hard to keep users engaged with them. Pros All of my safety materials and references are in one location and is also available on mobile devices! The customer service and support are top notch! Those with Admin access can get virtual binders via the app which makes all safety documents available on the mobile device without internet access. Great minds think alike!! As an Admin user you are able to see your entire building at once and have a quick look at your rosters as well as participate in a private chat amongst staff in case of an emergency situation. The ability to have our floor maps and safety plans readily available as well help us and any first responders that may need to get into the building to help. Understanding how to use the product is a simple and quick discussion with teachers. It easily demonstrates it need in the school environment. Cons Sometimes the color scheme can be confusing. When scrolling through items the sometimes balance between light and dark can be overwhelming. Note - you are able to change the color scheme in the site set up area. Some schools use their school colors which is nice for school spirit, but doesn't always translate well for reading!! Check with your admin to see about making a change in color scheme. Great comment!
