Submittable has helped us distribute nearly $2.5 million in grants to AAPI-owned businesses. We were so successful, that we doubled our donations in 2022 and will be implementing submittable again to distribute $4m with a team of only 4.

Pros

We can filter applications, see applicants in real time, and distribute reviews to separate team members to streamline efficiency of grant application reviews.

Cons

Pulling reports can be a chore, and labels shouldn't be accessible to all users doing reviews. Sometimes there are duplicate labels which creates confusion.

### "Great for automating our application for services!"

Submittable has enabled our application to be deployed via our website. We are able to keep a digital copy of a client "file". We are easily able to send emails to clients regarding their application and can send messages to a client's case worker within the agency.

Pros

Easy for clients to access. Can handle our complex application. Able to use the same forms over all projects.

Cons

I had hoped we would be able to correct/add information to the client's application. Our application is quite complex and when we need to make changes, it takes forever for the form to load and to make those changes because it is so "big". Forms do not print very well.

### "Every publication should use this software"

Submittable made life so much easier. We drastically improved collaboration and communication. We were able to cut down our response times to submitters. We also received more submissions.

Pros

Pretty much every feature is a lifesaver. The workflows, templates, ratings, comments, etc. It's all very well thought out and makes collection and responding to submissions of any kind super easy. The ability to collect payment for contests or other submissions is also invaluable.

Cons

Honestly, there's nothing I dislike about this software other than maybe the cost. It's one of the few tools that I think is pretty much perfect as it is.

### "A great solution and great customer service"

It has been nothing but positive. Just on the contact alone with everyone from WizeHive, I would recommend the company's products and services. Using the product only adds to my positive experience.

Pros

WizeHive came highly recommended from similar organizations. After an initial sales presentation, I knew the product was the exact solution we needed to transition from a paper-based application process to a secure, online process. It has been great working with the entire WizeHive team from our sales representative, to our solutions architect, to our implementation lead, to our success specialist, and to our training director. We went live two months ago and have seen a remarkable increase in applications when compared to the same time period last year and have received extremely positive feedback from our applicants and evaluators. It is an easy-to-use platform with a very low barrier to entry. It is also cost-effective, which is always a major consideration for non-profits working within the strict confines of a budget.

Cons

The only limitation that I've encountered this far with the product is that data can only be exported in Excel format and not directly into a PDF form. Once exported to Excel, it requires additional manipulation in order to group and present data.

### "Indispensable! "

Pros

It allows the applicants to easily submit their portfolio material in a large variety of file types.

Cons

Of late, it has become less user friendly with the by dividing into project and program, and having a separate qualification step. Mostly I have had tech help when I needed it within a day, but in the beginning this assistance was much quicker and more helpful. Also, this could be a useful platform for research, especially surveys, if there were more ways to analyze the data.

We chose the format with the broadest available range of files for uploading visual art, musical, and other art portfolios.

### "Scholarship Applications Made Easy"

We now have everything related to our scholarship program in one system. Previously, we used Zengine for contact management and Select for our scholarship application process. We recently migrated our scholarship application process to Zengine and were able to provide our applicants and school partners a much easier to use, integrated system that I think makes our process easier on everyone involved.

Pros

We use Zengine as a contact management database, an award tracking database, and most recently, as a scholarship application system. I like how everything is linked and integrated making it easy to pull necessary information for mailings, outreach, data, research, etc. I find that the software is intuitive and easy to use.

Cons

The only thing that I dislike right now is that I'm not able to pull email delivery reports on auto-emails that are set up based on folder movements. This feature works well with the bulk email feature, but it would be helpful to also have delivery reports for the auto-email feature.

### "Internship Application Process Made So Much Easier"

We have used WizeHive for our summer internship application process and have been very, very happy with it -- it's made it so much easier for us to manage the applications we receive and to assemble data. In particular, the review functionality has streamlined our process and avoided wasteful copying. After the initial set-up, we haven't needed much support from year to year, which is terrific - but when we do they are very responsive.

Pros

Overall, the whole system works really well, and the reporting function is terrific.

Cons

The e-mails to references seem to get caught in SPAM filters fairly often, which creates some administrative burden to follow up with those persons. And since we use the system only once a year, it is a bit pricey.

If you continue to have the SPAM problem please contact us directly We send all of our emails out through a 3rd party service called that processes over 20 billion emails a month with a 99%+ deliverability guarantee so we should look into your configuration as this should not be an issue.

My overall experience with Bright Funds has been excellent.

Pros

Bright Funds ability to facilitate the donations to non-profits is extremely user friendly. Starting with the ability to search for non-profits, making the donation, and requesting a corporate match. The entire process is extremely easy and convenient.

Cons

During my 6 years of using Bright Funds, I have not been able to identify any deficiencies with the Bright Funds solution.

It is easy to keep track of many submissions, and see what phase they are each in, and update that info easily. It also automates tedious form-filling processes very well.

Sometimes the interface is clunky, and there could be more robust ways to customize form templates

Its ease of use makes it a joy to work with: it's a clearinghouse, a reply tool, and an organizational tool all in one.

Cons

As it has in the past two years, I'm sure it will continue to improve it's functionality in a few of its features. For example, I'd like our readers/editors to be able to receive submissions immediately instead of me having to assign everything, but remain on a blind level, and also not be able to decline the work, just leave notes as they currently can.

Efficiency

Pros

The software is intuitive and saves us tons of time. Customer support is always there quickly when we need something or have a question. We literally could not run our journal without it. It allows me to manage a large and complex team and hundreds of submissions at a time in pretty simple form.

Cons

Trying to view and work with the submission on the iPad is a little more clunky than I would like, but not a show stopper. I mostly use the desktop.

No more paper applications! Easy to track scholarship winners and process scholarship payments! Easy for scholarship selection committees to access applications from their homes - no more running to the Foundation's office to pick up paper applications and distribute them to their committee members. Much easier for students to apply for scholarships!

Pros

Our scholarship program grew to the point that we were no longer able to process paper applications. Many of our scholarships are unique - some require applications, others are team or coach selected. We needed a customized scholarship platform that could allow us to continue administering all of our scholarships and provide an easy way to track scholarship winners and process scholarship payments. WizeHive's Zengine product was the perfect solution to our scholarship program's needs!

Cons

The first year we implemented the software, there were a couple of things that I thought could be improved. The WizeHive team listened to my comments and has come up with solutions to make the process even better this year!

It's the standard and most familiar for writers, which was the initial reason I chose it. But what sold me was the truly outstanding customer support. From talking me through the set-up to dealing with submitters who get confused with all technology, with any aspect of using the software, they are prompt, polite, and efficient problem solvers. No other company I deal with in any aspect of my life has customer service this good.

Great software for large number of entries (>1500 entries for one contest for one year). Could use some work on reports, as above.

Pros

Sorting entries, keeping track of judges' progress, contest progress

Cons

Unable to provide summaries of entries per judge (reviewer) in an Excel form, have images but primary data was disorganized, had to download it and do many sorts in Excel on my computer

I use this whenever I submit poems or manuscripts to publishers. It's really easy to use and it stores your old content which means that you never lose anything. I only use it when I have to. I've never used it for my own reasons. It's always when the publisher/competition requests its use. I have no reason to use it beyond that.

Pros

You never lose anything because it saves it for you as a PDF. A full history of everything you have submitted and whether it is processing or whether its been accepted or declined.

Cons

Limited functionality. I can't really use it for anything personal. Only when I'm submitting work and the publisher/competition prefers this method. It would be cool if I could save workable, InDesign or Word copies for my own use. If I have to download a PDF then I have to use another software to make the text editable which is always a hassle.

### "Implementing zengine from select "

There are technical areas of improvement but overall the customer support quality has been excellent. Customer support crew as well as account managers are responsive, helpful, patient and thoughtful. That is one of the best experience of being a wizehive customer so far.

Pros

The two top favorite features of Zengine that did not exist in Select are: 1) Data dashboard and 2) Side by side screen for evaluation form (Review portal). The former prevents us from downloading millions of excel spreadsheet to do data filtering to understand who is coming through our application - and the latter is a much better user experience for evaluator volunteers that we recruit every year. Thank you for these changes.

Cons

I hope there is more HTML/design element we can add on the platform - whether it is form creation, email templates, evaluator form... we use Form Assembly in many parts of our work and it has more design capacity (color, fonts, logo, insert graphics, etc). Also the degree of non-English customization was limited in comparison to our needs and we had to take two of our programs (Spain and Colombia) off Wizehive, which was unfortunate.

It is a great platform that is easy to use on the front and back end.

Pros

Applicants with low-tech/computer experience can use it. Works well on all types of devices (even an old iMac).

Cons

As a grant manager, I want to be able to view more details regarding Draft Applications submitted by applicants, so that I can provide better technical assistance. At least, it would be good to be able to view the names of applicants in the draft applications report or be able to filter by city or zip code. Also, I wish that in the main application view you could filter by address- This would be very helpful.

### "Support is what makes this program excel"

working in tech business I know how critical a support team (even my onw job function is a support role) is so I personally have high expectations when it comes to supporting and outside user.... your support team was not only super quick to respond via chat but I also got notification in my email (which was great casue i was multi tasking and didnt see the chat pop back up). Your support team member continued to respond super quick and resolved my query in a matter of a few minutes. I appreciated her attentiveness and accuracy in fixing my error. SUPPORT is was makes good software/applications GREAT and I believe people will pay a little extra for hands on support.

Pros

You're best quality is your support team -- outside of that the dashboard from a User standpoint is full of easy to navigate information available single click.

Cons

the search function for the charitable org. Seems the information is outdated and although you are clear to say no longer excepting donation for some rogs why would they even populate?
