The free version has provided everything we need for this initial phase of telemedicine. Pros The end user (patient) does not have to download or install anything. It works natively from most modern, updated browsers and provides a very simple, smooth video and audio experience. We also really like the waiting room function. Cons I don't like that it accesses the camera and microphone upon initial login to the application. I believe any application should prompt the user to request access to connect to the camera and microphone for privacy reasons. Doxy.me was presented to us and it is just so simple, allows us to still use our current EMR and it is HIPAA compliant. Pros It is very user friendly and simple. Just log in and the person you need to connect to is in the waiting room for you. They also have the ability to just give the person a link to your specific "waiting room." Cons I wish that they option to send texts or emails to invite people was a free option, but I understand why it is a paid option and we will likely add it anyways. Reason for choosing Doxy.me Other products required you to physically schedule the person in their software for a telehealth visit, which required entering demographics for people. This was deemed to be a redundant workflow and the basic Doxy.me user allows you to simply connect to your patients, everything else can be handled on your own, in house, software. I'm busy and I don't have time to deal with tech problems. Pros Super easy to set up and use. Some bumps early on in pandemic when everything went virtual with signal strength and connections. That seems to have been fixed. Cons I wish there was a secure texting feature. You can chat but has to be connected in the video functions. I'd like to see them add that. Pros Honestly, from a therapy perspective this is such an easy and reliable tool that doesn't require a high level of technical understanding from my clients for them to be able to access me. As long as you have the internet you are in business. It is SO simple, confidential, and user friendly! Cons Nothing. With the onset of the coronavirus and my entire state on a stay-at-home order, telemedicine has become the chosen method of attending therapy sessions. Doxy.me is HIPPA Compliant, easy to use, fast to set up, keeps track of your session times, and has a free version so that you can try it out to see if it fits your needs before committing to a purchase. Cons I have only tried the free version so far, but I would say what I like least about the software is the same issues I would likely face with any online video conferencing tool, particularly with the influx of people using these tools to do business, and that is the occasional issues with lag or glitchy video/audio quality. I started with a free account and upgraded. I have crisp calls, and if there is an issue, it's almost always client side internet issues. And I like that there is a payment portal included. It's accessible, functional, and reliable. I can't say enough great things about this program! Pros Doxy.me is HIPAA compliant, streamlined, and easy to start using. My clients find it easy to use as well; all they need to do is click a link to enter my waiting room. The video and audio quality is very good and I like the "pre-call test" function for peace-of-mind. You also can't beat the price! There are very few high-quality telemedicine services that offer HIPAA compliant service for a decent price, much less for free if you're a single practitioner. Cons Honestly, I can't think of anything I didn't like. I'm a practical person and I love how user-friendly and streamlined Doxy.me is. Perhaps others might want more bells and whistles, but I usually find extra features just tend to gum up the process and create more opportunities for problems to arise. The aesthetics are nice, I like the ability to submit claims directly (I wish I had an easier time of this), and I like the ability to make/use forms (would be good to be able to make these independently in a group account). Cons I started using this as an independent user before the practice I worked for started using it...it would have been great to integrate my data straight into the shared account but couldn't do it. While I will continue to meet with people in person, I have been encouraged that I will be able to use Doxy to enhance my practice and offer more services to my clients who are not able or comfortable meeting in person. Pros One of the things I most like about this software is the clients using it do not require an account. As a therapist, I appreciate privacy and the HIPPA compliance. Not requiring clients to have an account is added security. It is easy to use! Cons If I could change something about the software...sometimes when I end a call and start a new call, the previous clients name is still on the screen as "send a message". Also, conferencing in other calls has been challenging because the video isn't clear and audio has a delay. When my clients are not that skilled either, we have very hard time. When I started using Doxy.me, my life got easier. All I need to do is to copy the invitation, paste it, send it to my Client. My Client clicks on it and BINGO! They don't need to install or download anything. Doxy.me could be very basic and sophisticated at the same time. I LOVE IT!!!
