### "Great free version"

November 9, 2022

5.0

Pros

I use the free version of this software and as expected there are not many bells and whistles with it, however, the software meets my needs. The virtual waiting room saves me time daily. I also think the interface is very intuitive with user buttons in the places you would expect them. Finally, the meeting log allows me to review the length of my sessions, so I do not have any billing issues.

Cons

The only thing I see as an area of improvement would be to have a subscription rate between free and professional that would allow for a user to have access to the screenshare and file transfer features. While $35/month seems reasonable for an individual with a full-time private practice, $420 per year is somewhat prohibitive to someone with a part-time private practice.

### "Psychologist-Very Happy with Doxy.me for Teletherapy"

January 23, 2022

5.0

I wouldn't have had a teletherapy practice as early as I did without a reliable HIPAA-compliant teleconferencing service like Doxy.me. I realize that there are others out there now, but Doxy.me was one of the firsts. I was up and running Day 1 of the shut down.

Pros

Biggest thing! Doxy.me gives you the same dedicated link for your patients to click EVERYTIME, NO passwords , NO user ID's! Patients, like the rest of us, forget things all the time, and I am always resending info. However, after one or two Doxy.me sessions, No one ever has trouble logging in. I get so angry now when MY providers try to give a 17-step map to log onto their sessions! Also, I kid you not, that Doxy.me takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'! Some days I'm on Doxy.me straight for up to 5 hours (I only do teletherapy) and it just keeps running smoothly.

Cons

Especially early on, calls would drop or not even start until I logged on multiple times. That is very rare now (haven't had a problem in months). Credit Doxy.me. They always want to know if you have trouble and overtime the product gets more robust.

Alternatives considered

[Zoom Workplace](https://www.capterra.com/p/144037/Zoom-Video-Conferencing/)

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

Because Zoom, at the time (to my knowledge), did not have a HIPAA-compliant product.

### "Affordable and simple telehealth solution -- recommended but with a few gotchas"

June 17, 2022

4.0

I've aided in selecting and deploying (Doxy and other solutions) at numerous practices. It is a safe and recommended choice. It's simple to administrate and use. Despite the "peer to peer" architecture it's reasonably reliable. Please make sure your provider computers have an SSD hard drive and at least a Core i5 or similar processor. Please make sure your practice has fast Internet, preferably fiber. Please train your providers how to restart their Chrome browser if there is an issue access the Microphone. Always a good idea to do this 5 minutes before a telehealth call.

Pros

#1 Doxy.me is a very affordable solution. #2 Doxy is healthcare specific (unlike Zoom and Teams). #3 Doxy is also very simple! It is easy to configure and centrally manage by IT, or even by a lightly practice administrator. You can do it! : ) From a central management website the admin can create providers' custom weblinks, that can be given to patients.

Cons

#1 Customer support is not good. It's a chat. Historically I've waited 12 - 24 hours for a reply. Not acceptable. Not when you have providers/owners asking for clarity on issues. Doxy, if you are listening, offer an optional paid support option with a phone number. Most practices would gladly pay for US-based good quality support. #2 Doxy uses a web browser -- ideally Chrome. It is not uncommon to need to restart chrome for better performance or if a micrphone/webcam "stops working." Make sure your computers have an SSD or M.2 hard drive --- not a mechanical hard drive. Or Chrome will be slow, and so will be Doxy! #3 Doxy uses peer to peer technology for its video calls. This is highly disappointing. The provider's computer/device directly talks across the Internet to the patient's computer or phone. Doxy is ESPECIALLY sensitive to a good Internet connection at your practice ... and also at your patient's home or cellular network! Make sure you have fast fiber Internet or similar FAST connection for your providers. Warn them that using Doxy on their phone or at home is at the mercy of their cellular or home Internet connection. Warn them that 1/2 the time the patient's slow Internet or slow computer may cause minor glitches.

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

Updox - very good competitor and great support. I prefer Doxy's user interface, but this is worth comparing yourself RemedyConnect - Telehealth product is very good, but organization is a bit smaller Teledoc - not as good in multiple regards

### "So happy I switched!"

October 12, 2021

5.0

My appointment reminders, which I send myself, have the same meeting link creating simplicity for my clients. There are not very many distractions with certain extra features and the screen size defaults in a way that I have the best opportunity to observe my client's non-verbals. It helps me to do the best version of my work when I'm not doing it face to face.

Pros

I really enjoy how doxy.me gives me one link to use all the time. It's simple in overall use. It's designed for the needs of clinicians and provides those needs at a substantially reduced price of other popular platforms that do not cater to clinicians. I particularly like the "pay by the day option" as I think is a great flexibility for clinicians who are still building their caseload. I also viewed it from the client's perspective and it provides a generally professional look while also being easy for the clients to use with their devices.

Cons

When I log on, the camera and microphone are already on. I would like the option to default them to being off.

Switched from

[Webex Suite](https://www.capterra.com/p/237272/Webex/)

I had paid for Cisco Webex. One day, without warning, I wanted to log-in to see my clients and I could not log-in. My client's could not log in either. Later, I found out my account was not working because they were upgrading it. I did not ask for the upgrade and after exploring the new design, I was not satisfied. On that day, I had to pivot quickly which caused unnecessary delays. After I completed my sessions that day, I explored Doxy.Me of which I had previously heard about and found it much easier to use. It gave me peace of mind about how I was managing my clients.

### "Sometimes Problematic"

September 9, 2022

3.0

Best summed up as uneven- I have had good luck and bad luck with this online. I have even had the sound of other conversations a bit in the background, and you can imagine how disconcerting this is for a client struggling with a mental health issue.

Pros

This is relatively easy to use, but not necessarily to fix when it runs into problems.

Cons

Have had times when I could not get stable delivery - sound and image throughout the session (which might vary in length.) Have had days when I have had to revert to Zoom though wished Doxy was more consistent. Had wanted to try buying a year of service as one can do with Zoom, but your prices are higher than Zoom.

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

Didn't fully choose it. I use the free version because I am not convinced it will be consistently reliable for me.

### "Dawning Phoenix says thank you"

December 20, 2023

4.0

Extremely positive overall, mostly due to the HIPAA compliance with ease of use for clients and no required identification, which really makes clients comfortable on a platform they've never used before. No complaints from them!

Pros

Flexiblity, client anonymity, a basic package option that does not require using or even purchasing features I have zero interest in utilizing.

Cons

Audio quality is inconsistent but reliability has improved since access problems during high demand in 2020.

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

For the reasons stated in my overall experience section and in the "what I like most" section.

### "Im a fan of Doxy.me"

August 3, 2023

5.0

Reduced the number of no shows due to transportation and cost of travel in rural area. Clients are able to attend , its private , and saves resources for all.

Pros

Great product came at the time I needed a way to follow up during Covid, Easy to learn and Ease of Use, technical support and clients feel comfortable for sessions.

Cons

nothing. All good. I would say that I had precovid bias about on line services for mental health counseling. Doxy.me was recommended in a training for telehealth , I went with the recommendation and have zero need to make a change. I still see clients in the office and I let new clients know that telehealth is available to themI . I ask " do they want that option?" Then I get the forms and review Doxy.me with them. It was a learning curve, I consider it well worth doing. At times clients are not able to access stable internet and that is a frustration. Its more about rural region than any problem with the program.

### "Great for virtual therapy"

March 11, 2024

5.0

Fantastic- Used intially the free version, then purchased the professional version. %05 of my practice remains virtual using Doxy.me exclusively for sessions

Pros

Doxy.me became my solution in MArch of 2020 and I have continued to use it since. It's ease of use and troubleshooting, ability to have several participants log in from different locations, white board, and othe rtools make it invaluable.

Cons

less reliable when clients log on from cell phones- often disconnects, or freezes when they gat a phone call during session.

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

Ease of use, multiple levels of use Free, Pro, clinic and enterprise- allowed me to try it out for myself- then grow into a higher level of use once I was comfortable.

### "Recommended for all private pratitioners...it is worth the very small cost of $35/month"

October 25, 2022

5.0

I have really liked it. I would like to start paying annually, but don't know how to switch from just paying every months.

Pros

I like that it is secure and encrypted. I love that there is the option for secure video or secure audio for those who don't have smartphones or computers. I have needed the ability to securely download results to my patients, so this is an important feature. I love that patients can pay me by credit card or hsa before the visit even starts and the money goes directly into my corporate checking account in 1-2 days. Occasionally I wait and charge them during the visit or at the end of the visit. The advantage to having them pay before the visit is that you don't forget to collect the money! the invites are easy to send...I invite all patients via both phone and email unless they don't have an email.

Cons

There are times when it freezes, though it can be re-set pretty easily. Also, I find it freezes most often if they are using tablets instead of a computer or smartphone.

### "Using Doxy.com to work with clients remotely"

September 20, 2023

5.0

Using Doxy opens up my market to a wider range of customers. Was useful during 'Lockdown' and useful for busy professional clients who travel alot. I found it was reliable and I was able to conduct sessions with ease over a period of several years with many different clients in this country and abroad. Doxy.me has never let me down. I always inform clients that if there is a power cut or server issue at any time, they will resume a normal feeling of wakefulness as soon as they are aware that they cannot hear me any more and we will re-schedule and no harm will come of it. But fortunately it has always worked perfectly. Only issues have been client error so a pre-talk about how to use their device safely and still be able to relax is essential.

Pros

Feels professional, safe and easy to use. Easy to use for the client.

Cons

No features missing that I am aware of. Perhaps if there is a software, power or server cut an automatic message could go to the client letting them know that there was a technical problem and the user or therapist will be in contact again with them ASAP

This site allows me to continue my private practice in the most convenient way at this time in my career when I am needed at home....although I began using Doxy.me because of the Pandemic, I have been able to move from my in town office to my home seamlessly.

Pros

It is easy to use, reliable, protects privacy of client and inexpensive.

Cons

Sometimes I have problems the audio and visual being in synch. This is usually solved by using various tools the tech department has suggested.

I was able to continue to meet with clients during the COVID19 pandemic. It allowed for those who needed continuing mental health support to access meetings at a time when people were frightened for their helath and safety.

Pros

This program turned out to make a huge difference during the COVID19 pandemic! Clients were able to continue to receive care and support when they could not come in to the office to meet.

Cons

There are times when a client has to close out and sign in again, due to glitches on their end. This ends up creating more than one room open for that client, which can get confusing.

### "Just in time. "

July 15, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with this Software has been exciting and humbling at the same time. While I welcome the fact of not having to stop everything I'm doing versus being able to still conversate and keep an appointment with my Dr. The realization of why we need software like should humble anyone. But overall.? I'm excited to have this software as part of my everyday life.

Pros

What I really like about this Software is that it has enabled me and my family to still be seen by our own provider during the Covid lockdown but still continues to allow us to keep appointments no matter where we might be. It's secure and safe. They follow the HIPPA laws to the T. You really couldn't go wrong with this one.

Cons

I'm not sure that I could think of anything I don't like about this software. Like I said before. It has help me and my family a lot.

### "Doxy.me"

August 3, 2023

4.0

I have experienced many audio/visual issues from the beginning and stayed with the platform because it was free and it did give me the Telehealth option to see my clients, especially during the pandemic. However, Doxy.me did frequently evaluate the quality of their product and I can see improvements over the years. I started paying for more services with them because I was hoping paying would bring better quality of audio/visual and I liked the new products they were offering that I needed with my practice that I could not get staying a free user. I still have some audio/visual issues but the quality has improved and I will remain a paying subscriber.

Pros

It was a free service where I could continue to provide HIPPA compliant counseling. I did become a paying subscriber this year and I am enjoying the new products and services. The quality of the audio/visuals has improved. I am pleased.

Cons

The poor audio/visuals. Losing connection and clients and/or me having to log back in. These interruptions were inconvenient and distracting to my clients and me.

### "It saved me through the pandemic..."

November 15, 2022

4.0

Pros

Doxy.me had to be HIPPA compliant in order for me to use it. In addition to that, I find the ease of use for the client to be critical to the success of telemedicine. I appreciate the active aspects of the video and audio. I also appreciate the behind the scenes aspects such as meeting history and the virtual waiting room. The meeting history keeps track of time in and time out of the session allowing me to double check the visit length of time for billing. The virtual waiting room provides the client with the ability to check their connection, tips on best connection, the ability to send a message to me, and receive my message in return, while they are waiting.During the pandemic Doxy.me increased their capacity to respond to the explosive need for telemedicine services. Despite their investment, they offer free access to their software that allows the user to perform telemedicine visits competently. They also have a paid subscription that offers more services.I don't know what I would have done without it through the pandemic.

Cons

At times the video or audio may be problemmatic. I believe when that occurs it is not related to the software, I believe it is due to internet issues for either the provider or the client. The camera is important for clarity of the video, and again that is not a software issue.I don't have a con about Doxy.me!

### "Easy to use"

May 2, 2023

5.0

It works well. I am happy with it.

Pros

Product is easy to use and seems reliable. I like the option to give patient's a URL that they can use

Cons

Some features require money. It also doesn't link to our EHR, but I am not sure if that is because I use the free version. I think maybe the upgrade versions have that capability, but I am not sure.

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

I actually do use the others in certain capacities, but for patient's who come into the office to do telelhealth visits with remote provider, doxy.me is better because the office staff can start initiate the call vs other products I need to send a link to them.

### "Social-Forward Healthcare"

April 2, 2019

4.0

I have had VERY few hiccups with quality, connectivity, and other technical issues, but they appeared to be concentrated around the time a major overhaul of the aesthetics and features was taking place. I love it, my patients love it, and my staff love it. We have attempted other programs with "better" functions, but those fell with empty promises and the "added functionality" was marketed to make work flow simpler, but they were just so much more confusing than Doxy. We are really please with Doxy, and don't foresee a change in any near future.

Pros

I love the simplicity for patients to be able to access my virtual waiting room from anywhere. The features, as needed, is a great functional option; we're a nonprofit clinic and don't need all the features every day and don't need the cost to branch over every day. So, having the option to have them for a particular day is best for growth for any sized company and in any direction. Several other products were charging upwards of $300 per month when it was just me trying to reach patients in rural farming communities to prevent 3 hour travel times to get to the office. Doxy saved the day. Tele-health should be for ALL, not only those willing to pay the cost for convenience.

Cons

Not much; I do wish the app was still around. That made it easier for Providers on tablets, and notification when the Patient is in while multitasking.

### "Doxy is great for telehealth!"

December 14, 2023

4.0

Doxy has made it possible for me to work from home. It has made it easy to acclimate new clients who have never done telehealth. My clients and I are very happy with the ease of use and quality of the audio and video. As a patient myself, I have used Zooom and other platforms and found them cumbersome, poorer in quality and harder to use.

Pros

I like that the link is always the same and it is very easy for new users. I transitioned from in person to total telehealth in one day at the start of the pandemic. Doxy made it easy and less stressful.

Cons

Occasionally the audio goes out or the video freezes, but I suspect that is due to users internet service. When clients have fiber optic internet there are rarely issues.

### "Free version is easy to use, serves the purpose, but not a Cadallic "

June 8, 2021

4.0

Doxy.me allows me to service my patients even in the era of Covid-19. It also broadens my patient base beyond the rural area in which I reside. Since the free version suffices, Doxy.me will not break the bank.

Pros

You really can't complain about Doxy.me. I use the generously offered free version. Although this version does not provide the industry-highest resolution, it still does the trick. No bells and whistles like document sharing or group meetings, but I really don't need that. It is HIPAA compliant, which I imagine will be required once again when the Covid crisis eases, making it vital to do therapy legally. Unlike other video platforms, Doxy.me does not require the patient to download software to connect. And patients find it easy to connect with and navigate.

Cons

Although it is very workable, the resolution is not of the highest quality. Also, it seems to be slightly more sensitive to internet and wifi disruptions that other platforms. But, you can't beat the price. No matter what platform you use, I recommend having a few handy in case a glitch pops up.

### "Very stable and reliable. No client software needed."

August 15, 2022

5.0

Bottom line: doxy.me me is a very solid, user-friendly telemedicine platform. It's very easy to use, for both providers and clients.

Pros

Doxy..me has been very stable and reliable for many years. We like the fact that out clients/patients do not have to install software or an app to use the service. They simply browse to a simple URL, type their name, and connect. Doxy.me has been around longer since 2014; far than many other telemedicine platforms, including Zoom's HIPPA-compliant service. We also like the fact that Doxy.me is focused exclusively on the healthcare industry. We don't use their credit card acceptance feature, but many providers would find it beneficial to allow their clients to pay for their visits via. the telemedicine service.

Cons

The price is pretty high compared to some other telemedicine platforms, such as Zoom's HIPPA-compliant product.

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

There were no other well-established platforms at that time.

I work on multiple platforms as an independent contractor but I prefer to use Doxy. I love the ease of use for sharing documents and video clips with my clients.

Pros

I love how easy it is for both my clients and me to use the Doxy platform. My favorite feature on Doxy is the File Share link. I use a lot of handouts and I after Screensharing during session, I can share the handout without having to send a separate email.

Cons

### "Affordable, confidential, & easy to use."

November 17, 2022

5.0

Doxy.me is available to me at any time. Although I see very few clients via telehealth, it is available when I need it.

Pros

March 2020, the beginning of Covid shutdown, I was unable to continue seeing established clients face to face in my office. The Doxy.me was simple to download and use immediately. Working from home was made possible only because of Doxy.me.

Cons

The only problems with Doxy.me was at the update to professional services. Doxy.me advertisements kept popping up as I signed into my virtual office. These pop-up ads would block me from inviting my client into the office from my waiting room. A Doxy.me customer service person (her) assisted me in stopping the intrusive ads.

Reason for choosing Doxy.me

At the time I needed it, Doxy.me was free, and easy to install. When I became familiar with the concept of telehealth, I signed up for the professional product and was able to incorporate conferences with a variety of clients & professionals.
