I have the choice to use free or sign up for the custom site when I need to see a group or couple. The pre-call check is very helpful in as much as I don't have anticipated problems once I have pre tested the call. Cons Sometimes there are glitches. When I have run into difficulties it has taken ,sometimes, a long time to resolve the problem. I have had to communicate with my waiting patient while the issue is being resolved. March 28, 2023 3.0 It is very useful for patients who have moved away and cannot easily get back to this city for a session. It also is very beneficial if I happen to be gone on a trip etc. Pros It was fairly easy to integrate. The quality of the audio and video seems to be improving over time. It is very convenient to use if patients live far away from my office and is usable if I happen to be away from my office on a trip etc. Cons Sometimes the audio and video are difficult to use or might be of poor quality. September 1, 2021 5.0 Doxy.me is excellent for videoconferencing. Like everything else, it has its moments, but their staff seems to be “on it” to resolve issues quickly. Pros Due to Covid, nursing homes where I had a contract informed me that I would not be able to come back into the building on March 13, 2020. I started using other video conferencing tools when a colleague told me about Doxy and how it was HIPAA compliant. I started using it then and I have never looked back. When the nursing homes got to where they could not do telehealth with me anymore, I started looking around and found Cerebral. I signed on with them and was pleased that I already knew how to use that software. To me, it’s easy to use. Wish I could put a consent form in my waiting room on the free side of it. Cons I wish there was a way that I could move the thumbnail of me to a different location on the screen. Sometimes the person holding the device in the nursing home is behind that… It looks like their head on my body. It would be nice if there was a way to boost their signal when it is weak. Used all day long for 3 years during Covid, now using it 75% of time as only see a few clients in person until illnesses are lower. Ease of signing in to my virtual waiting room was very important. And clients being able to access it from phone or a notebook also helpful as many were calling in from their cars or a closet for privacy during Covid Pros very easy for all clients to use, including elderly clients who were inexperienced with technology. Especially helpful that it can be used on telephone (as all my older clients have smart phones), or ipad/notebook or computer. With the onset of the pandemic, I began using Doxy every day paying a fee. I did not switch to another provider out of loyalty to Doxy. My clients were impressed with how smoothly the transition happened, they never missed a session. We have not had any problems with it. Patients come to counseling sessions in all manner of emotional states. Doxy works well, it is not complicated or intimidating, it is not over engineered or constantly changing the platform to "improve the user experience" (which I hate and I think is "the cult of cool" - people who are making a living by changing what you are used to). Doxy does what it is supposed to do. Pros Doxy does what it is supposed to do! The links work, the waiting room works, the quality of the teleconference with my therapist works great. While in person meetings would be preferable, this has not been possible because of the pandemic. Doxy is the next best thing. I guess it is secure too. Cons I can't think of any cons for Doxy. I have over 369 pages of meetings thanks to Doxy.me. That is 3,689 sessions so far thanks to them :) Pros This program got me through COVID, as I was able to see my clients through a free HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform. Cons I don't know if it's the program or the way a phone works, but clients tend to get bumped or interrupted when they get a phone call while in session with me. It's not a big deal, because they can just refresh and start over again with me. I think this is just the phone prioritizing incoming phone calls over anything else the client is doing on the phone. Pros I like that I can use the free version and that my clients don't need to download anything or to have a user name and password. They just open the email, click on the link and they are in my virtual waiting room. Cons Sometimes I hear my words echoing and that is very annoying, but it doesn't happen often. Once in a while clients are not able to get on or we get cut off or they freeze and it takes a few seconds for them to come back and they have to repeat themselves (or I do if I was the one speaking). Sometimes we have to get out and sign back in cause it doesn't come back. And again, it doesn't happen often or I would stop using doxy.me. My clients are mostly satisfied with doxy.me and so am I. I love Doxy Pros Doxy.me is easy to use, people can reuse their link continuously without fear that someone can get in to their session by hacking, I have to let them in. The waiting room is awesome as I can see if someone has shown for their appointment and if not, I can continue with the current patient longer if I need to. It is very helpful to use either on my phone or on my computer. I can send the link on a phone and answer the call on the computer. I cannot think of another platform being so useful and safe for my patients. Cons I don't know? Like others, I have experienced the value of being available through HIPAA compliant computer sessions so that clients can keep appointments when under the weather and in the comfort of their own homes. Doxy has enhanced my practice overall and provided extra benefit for clients. Pros This has been a wonderful and free or fairly priced means of communicating that is HIPAA compliant and easy to use for both providers and consumers. I love that it was free during the pandemic when I was struggling to become more tech savvy. Cons I would like to be able to design the waiting room and have some other features that are also free, but I will take what I can get :) I don't make a lot of money so I am careful with expenditures. I truly appreciate that their goal of increasing telehealth access means that solo practitioners like me can use the software for free. Connectivity issues happen with different platforms on different days, and the free account allows me to have a Plan B when my EHR's video function fails. Pros I started using doxy.me in late February, 2020, when an immunocompromised patient requested video sessions to limit their exposure to COVID-19. I found it very easy to use, greatly appreciated the ease with which I got a Business Associate Agreement, and I like that it shows how much time has elapsed in each session. My patients have also found it to be easier to use than my EHR's video function. Also, it keeps a record of the start and stop times of all my sessions, which makes it easier to get the times right on my progress notes. Cons There's nothing that jumps out at me as an issue, honestly. Alternatives considered [Zoom Workplace](https://www.capterra.com/p/144037/Zoom-Video-Conferencing/)[CounSol.com](https://www.capterra.com/p/124769/CounSol-com/) Reason for choosing Doxy.me For my small practice, it is free. I ultimately signed up for Counsol.com's video, too, in mid-March, 2020, because I rapidly learned that connectivity was not always possible (which I chalked up to getting what I paid for - LOL) and I wanted access to another HIPAA-compliant option. I continue to use Doxy.me the most, however, because I prefer its "stopwatch" feature and my patients find it so easy to use - no username, no password, just type in the URL and we're off. LMFT Mental Health Care Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "I really want to like Doxy.me" October 30, 2020 4.0 I like the simplicity, but the platform has more issues than SimplePractice (in terms of internet, dropouts, et cetera). I wish this issue could be fixed, since I don't know of any similar platforms (in terms of simplicity, which is really helpful with clients. Pros The simplicity - it's great that the client does not need to download and install anything - not all clients are very computer savvy. Cons It's unbelievably glitchy. As an older therapist, I work only part time. I use Doxy.me for about 10 hours a week. However, it's rare that I make it through an entire hour without a problem. I often have to resort to using the phone, et cetera. Additionally, Doxy.me has had periodic problems with which browsers it works on. As a Mac user, I prefer Safari as my browser. For a couple of months, I used Doxy.me on Safari, and it ran acceptably (I'm not talking about the glitchy issues here). Then, I began to have a problem with sound. I'd sign in, but clients couldn't hear me. I finally spoke to someone at Doxy.me and they told me that it wasn't working on Safari, wouldn't work on Firefox, and they recommended a microsoft browser that I don't think is still in existence. I asked about Google Chrome, and for a while, Doxy.me worked fairly well. However, the problems with dropouts seem to be getting worse, rather than better.
