Pros
My journey with yFiles has been characterized by seamless customization, stunning templates, and a level of integration that aligns perfectly with my creative process.
From intricate data structures to elegant flowcharts, yFiles seamlessly adapts to my creative vision, turning concepts into visually stunning realities.
Cons
The palette of icons is limited in terms of available computers / servers / networking equipment, therefore the diagrams look a little repetitive.
I also think it is outdated that you have to manually resize blocks when text overflows it; this is a bit of a downer for me.

"Designed for diagrams and flow charts"
Overall: We use yED to map out workflow algorithms in a clinical laboratory.
Pros: This software is designed to help create flow charts and other types of organizational diagrams. It is similar to Vizio, but free. Can also import and export to Vizio. The interface takes a little bit of getting used to if you are familiar with MS Office type applications but after getting used to the way it works you appreciate quickly how it makes the process of making high quality illustrations very easy. It is superior in every way to trying to do the same thing in Word or Powerpoint where you have to fiddle constantly with alignments to get a diagram to look right. There are also a ton of customizations for nodes and different types of chart templates for a variety of standard uses. Files can be saved in native .graphml format or easily exported to many other files types.
Cons: There is a bit of a learning curve to get good at using this software. Not really a con, because the investment in learning to use it properly is worth it. Definitely recommend reading a bit about the software before jumping in.
"yEd - solution for companies and students"
Overall: My overall experience is very good. The price of the software is nice, the features are amazing!
Pros: I started using this software as a management student and keep using it daily on the company. The software has amazing features, is very easy to create flows and diagrams and is even easier to import and export.
Cons: Most probably the biggest improvement is the customer service that is not bad but sometimes takes some time to understand and reply to the real question.
"yEd usability"
Overall: I was looking for a tool easy, with light installation, available in multiple Operating Systems, with a ready to use library to create diagrams like BPMN, Network, UML and so on, this tool helped me multiple time to be honest, the only thing is to make more easy the usability
Pros: yEd is a good tool to use for diagrams like BPMN, UML, business or similar kid of schema. In summary you can install a simple SW , where the library already give you a set of shapes ready to use for your activity, you can use it to create all the process schema requires in your documentation for example. This Sw is java based so, you can ran it on Windows, Mac or Linux, as you like, create your diagram, exporting it as image and include in your presentation or documents. Moreover you can have a web interface, interesting if you can't install this sw in the PC that you are using
Cons: Tool is good, you don't need to install so much SW in your PC/Mac to use it like other tools, however the usability is not so friendly, for example when you have to connect 2 shapes in a complex diagram is bit tricky adapt the arrows to avoid to overlap other shapes, using the local installation you cannot drag easily an existing shape in your diagram , you have to select first and drag it as second action, after that adapt again the arrows used for the connect
"yEd is a great alternative to commercial diagram software"
Overall: There is a constant need for diagrams, mostly network and server ones, in our company and the solutions we found were expensive and/or didn't provide the results we expected. After some research, we found yEd that is free and fulfills the majority of our needs. My only wish is for a larger palette of icons, but otherwise, it is a good software.
Pros: yEd is free, easy to use and fulfills the majority of our needs for diagramming networks and servers.
Cons: The palette of icons is limited in terms of available computers / servers / networking equipment, therefore the diagrams look a little repetitive.

Cons: Nothing, it totally satisfiesd all requirements I had and I love the chatgpt Yed integration
"Once you dig in, you find the real value!"
Overall: yED is a feature rich experience that offers everything I need to present diagrams and flow charts to clients. I am able to format the charts professionally and change details on the fly, all the while making sure that the information stays correct.
Pros: What I like the most about yED is that it has absolutely any feature that you can think that a diagramming and graphing editor should have. It most useful, powerful feature is that it rearranges your flow diagrams for you based on criteria that you set. Using this feature allows you to go wild and add branches everywhere on your diagrams which yED will then rearrange neatly for you when the time comes.
Cons: What I liked the least about yED was the initial learning curve it took to get everything right. There are a lot functions that do not work seamlessly, and you need to click around a bit to figure out how to get the program to respond the way you expect it to. I also think it is outdated that you have to manually resize blocks when text overflows it; this is a bit of a downer for me.
"Great for personal use"
Pros: I've used this nice little Java tool to draw the diagrams of my bachelor degree thesis, and I still use it sometimes at work. The styles and colors of the preset components are nice, choice is large enough but you won't spend days choosing. The alignment features are well laid out and intuitive, I've never had problems with finding the right "snap point". Being Java it runs on any OS. Can export in PDF, SVG and raster formats. An online version is available but I haven't had experience with it.
Cons: I've never managed to get anything good from the auto-arrange feature, it's probably worth only for massively imported data. It's not really a widespread program and although it uses a supposedly standard format, there's not much interoperability with other graphing tools (if you start drawing with this, you have to end with this).
"yED is a tool that i have for years, it makes the creation of flowcharts and class diagrams so easy"
Overall: I can use this application to create flowcharts and diagrams
Pros: yED is so easy to use, from a developer perspective. i use yED for the creation of flow charts and class diagrams for projects and
Cons: The software is abit easy to use from a developer perspective. However there are many non developers that create flowcharts. So maybe making a user friend interface will polish the app.
"one of the best diagrams designer"
Pros: It is very easy to use and you could start to work once you open it. Symbols are enough and good looking. It works with the most known operative systems.
Cons: Maybe a more rich library of symbols could get the best from this software
"Great free charting and graphing tool"
Overall: As a Technical Architect, I am using yEd to create ERD data models, System class diagrams and integration diagrams. It gives me the tools I need without having to pay for additional software licenses.
Pros: This is an great solution for those who don't have enough budget to go for a paid charting tool. It provides a good set of basic shapes and graph types which enable you to complete your work. It works fast and does not demand a lot of computer resources.
Cons: The shape and graph tool library is sometimes not large enough so in that case you will have to go with a paid solution like Visio or Lucidchart.
"All you need to create great flowcharts, org-charts and the like. Completely free. "
Overall: Clean-cut, easy to prepare charts in our documentation
Pros: This piece of SW is dedicated to creating high quality flowcharts, org-charts, mind-maps and the likes with ease. You'd probably never ever need to pay for anything like Visio. Moreover, yEd is available for Win, MacOS, and Linux, and you can even run a live version from any suitable browser. And, being free, its performance/price ratio soars to infinity :).
Cons: yEd has a bit specific philosophy, including the user inetrface, but once you learn it, you make your charts in a snap.
"After 10 years, still my go-to tool for most technical diagrams"
Overall: Fulfilled 95 % of all my diagramming needs
Pros: Yed makes it simple to just start drafting relationships between entities in a drawing and worry about how to best order and present those at a later time. The wide variety of options to arrange messy, complex diagrams seem overwhelming at first, but I have grown to love them. It makes it easy to produce good flow charts, ERDs, collaboration diagrams
Cons: I wish there was an option in Yed to easily make sequence diagrams similar to Web Sequence Diagrams.
"Belle qualité pour un logiciel gratuit"
Overall: Je m'en sers pour faire des logigrammes de description de processus, de flux, de workflows... Permet de mixé différents langages pour avoir un résultat qui parle au client.
Pros: Pratique pour faire des logigrammes, avec certains langage codifiés (BPMN par exemple)
Cons: Un petit peu rigide et des bases graphiques assez limités. Editions des textes pas très intuitive (trop de clics)
"Easy to use simple program to create network diagrams"
Overall: I need to create network and infrastructure diagrams with a budget of £0. I would normally have used Visio but with a budget of £0 I searched for a free alternative. After tested various products within a few minutes of using yEd it was easy to see the program would do the job well. In the space of a few hours the diagrams were complete at zero cost.
Pros: Free Easy to use but powerful, great import/export options.
Cons: Would like a few more shapes and libraries. Java
"Flujogramas con yEd "
Overall: Buena experiencia, menú amigable y buena interface
Pros: La versatilidad de la aplicación para crear flujogramas.
Cons: Crear más plantillas para facilitar flujogramas u organigramas
"yEd"
Overall: Free way to create flow charts, process flows without needing to buy/install Visio.
Pros: Free software with capabilities similar to Visio.
Cons: User Interface isn't completely intuitive. Takes some time to learn it.
